Agustin Ramirez Leads Group of Four Deep-League Fantasy Baseball Waiver Hitters

Looking at a few waiver wire hitters to consider adding in fantasy baseball leagues.

In the middle of the fantasy baseball week, let's take a look at another round of waiver wire hitters.

We won't cover anyone we talked about on Tuesday or Monday. Check back soon for the waiver wire pitcher story.

Check out the top fantasy baseball waiver wire options everyday on FantasySP.

Should You Add Agustin Ramirez?

Ramirez is the top waiver wire pickup overall at the time of publication. He's up 6.09% and is now rostered in 22.83% of fantasy leagues.

Ramirez was called up earlier this week, and has looked great in his first two games. He has five hits across eight plate appearances.

He's doubled three times among those hits, and has also walked twice to sit with a .875 on-base percentage. Ramirez has an RBI, stolen base and run scored, while not having struck out yet - he also has been caught stealing.

Ramirez is showing off all his tools early in his MLB career, and he's getting waiver wire attention now because of it. He wasn't a top-100 prospect when he was called up, but he was a highly-regarded prospect that was at least worth watching in case he took off right away as a fantasy asset.

Ramirez started at catcher and batted sixth in his MLB debut on Monday. That came against a left-handed starting pitcher. He moved up to the cleanup spot on Tuesday and again started at catcher. The Marlins took on a right-handed starting pitcher in that contest.

Miami has a lack of talent in its MLB lineup, so if Ramirez can keep mashing, he's likely going to keep hitting in the heart of the team's lineup. Even if he slots in where he did for his first two MLB games, Ramirez will be primed for big things, because hitters face more right-handed pitchers.

Consistent fantasy catchers are hard to come by, so Ramirez's first couple games have him turning heads. I really think his own percentage could explode over the next couple days, especially if he keeps producing as much as he has in the first two games.

Depending on my fantasy catcher situation, I'd say Ramirez is nearing must-add status in deeper redraft fantasy leagues. At the very least, I'd want to stash him on my roster, instead of losing out on him to another fantasy opponent.

A week or so of strong fantasy production would get Ramirez some standard league attention, so all fantasy owners need to keep an eye on the youngster. Of course, most dynasty/keeper leagues should already roster the 23-year-old catcher.

Should You Add Noelvi Marte?

Marte has only played eight games in the big leagues this season, but he's starting to garner attention for his work with the bat. He was added in 4.74% of fantasy leagues, and is up to 16.67% rostered overall now.

Marte has 28 plate appearances over his eight games so far. He's posted a .346 average and .393 OBP in that short sample size.

Marte has three doubles and two home runs among his nine total knocks. He also has eight RBIs, two stolen bases and walks, six runs scored and three strikeouts.

All of his big league hits this season have come in the past three games. He had a five-hit game on Sunday against the Orioles, before two hits on Monday against Miami, and then another knock against the Marlins on Tuesday.

Marte has had an up-and-down start to his now three-year MLB career. Across 35 games in 2023, he hit .316 and got on base at a .366 clip. That made him a breakout candidate for 2024.

In 66 games last season, Marte had just a .210 average and .248 OBP. He struck out 75 times. Marte was also suspended 80 games to begin the season.

It's hard to say what direction Marte is moving in right now, but he has some promise because of his recent hot streak. He's just a deep-league option at this point, but is definitely hitting well enough to add and utilize for at least a short-term time.

More strong play is only going to drive his own percentage up, so keep a close eye on Marte. If he reverts back to his 2023 self, he might eventually become a standard league option again.

Should You Add Eric Wagaman?

Wagaman is another Marlin on the rise. He's up 3.62% today, bringing his overall mark to 11.19%.

He's quietly put up great numbers to open the 2025 season. Wagaman has played in 19 games and gotten 75 plate appearances so far.

Wagaman has 19 total hits, including four doubles and three home runs. He's also accumulated seven RBIs, a stolen base, six walks, 11 runs scored and 10 strikeouts.

He's appeared at first base 11 times, while playing at third base once. Wagaman has served as the designated hitter on seven occasions.

Wagaman is on a 10-game hitting streak, collecting 14 of his hits over those contests. He's got a .378 average and .425 OBP in that span.

His strong hitting has Wagaman in favorable positions in the batting order. He's been between the No. 2-4 spots over the past six games, and has been playing everyday, whether it be at first base or designated hitter.

His own percentage tells you he's another deep-league option, but he's a pretty strong choice at this point. Wagaman only had 18 big league games under his belt (all in 2024), so we don't really know what to expect out of him.

I wouldn't say he has the upside of a Ramirez or Marte, but until he cools off, Wagaman could be added and utilized in a lot of deeper fantasy setups. It really comes down to your current roster and if you have the space to add a hot hitter.

Don't wait around to add Wagaman - do it now if you are thinking about it.

Should You Add Luke Keaschall?

Keaschall made his major league debut at the end of last week, and has gotten off to a pretty solid start. He's up to 18% rostered in fantasy leagues.

In his first four games and 17 plate appearances, Keaschall has two doubles among his five total knocks, two RBIs, three stolen bases, walks and runs scored and two strikeouts. He's really flashed all the tools he brings to the table.

He was a top-100 prospect, so he's also highly regarded and was worth keeping an eye on in case he settled in quickly. Keaschall has played a game at second base, and served as the designated hitter in his other three appearances.

He began his MLB career by hitting eighth against a right-handed pitcher. Keaschall moved up to second in a start against Chris Sale, one of the best left-handed pitchers in the game. The rookie then dropped back to seventh against a righty, before most recently slotting in third against a righty.

It appears the Twins are trying to jumpstart their offense, so moving Keashall around makes sense. If he keeps producing at the plate, I'd expect the prospect to hit toward the top of the lineup. The only stat I'd be worried about if he's batting third is his stolen bases, but he swiped two bases while batting third on Tuesday.

Keaschall is another deep-league option at this point, but is another guy to target in case he really takes off (since we don't have much history to go off of). I'd rather have him on my roster, even if he's stashed on the bench, than watch him take off on a leaguemate's roster.

More strong production at the plate, and starts in the heart of the team's lineup, is going to move Keaschall's own percentage up in a hurry. If you aren't adding him today, keep a very close eye on Keaschall, because his own percentage could skyrocket in the days to come.
