Midweek Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Targets: Bats Trending Up Fast
Looking for offense on the waiver wire? These four hitters are producing now and deserve consideration in fantasy leagues.
Let's take a look at some more fantasy baseball waiver wire hitting options in the middle of the work week.
Here are our waiver wire stories on hitters from Monday and Tuesday. Also be sure to check out Wednesday's starting pitcher streaming article.
Fantasy baseball waiver wire options can be found all season on FantasySP!
TJ Rumfield - Colorado Rockies
Rumfield is rostered in 46% of fantasy baseball leagues right now. He was at just 35% just three days ago, so he's rising quickly.
He has a hit in six of his past seven games played, and 10 total knocks in that span. Rumfield has eight extra-base hits in that timeframe, plus seven RBIs, six runs scored, three walks and three strikeouts.
In 71 games and 285 plate appearances in what is his rookie year of MLB play, Rumfield has a .275 average and .354 on-base percentage. He has 14 doubles, 10 home runs and two triples among his 69 total hits. Rumfield also has tallied 36 RBIs, 32 runs scored, 27 walks and 41 strikeouts so far.
Rumfield has mostly played first base, while also appearing as the team's designated hitter on 11 occasions. First base is a loaded position, but he's delivering enough at the plate to add and utilize in more fantasy leagues.
I like him in most deeper leagues, especially while his bat is hot. He could even be worth roster spots in standard leagues, but just as a short-term option. Move off him when his bat cools off, but take advantage of his production while he's delivering big.
Brandon Marsh - Philadelphia Phillies
Marsh sits at 75% owned at this time. That's up a couple percent from yesterday.
Marsh had a homer and a walk on Tuesday. He had two hits on Monday and three knocks back on Saturday. Marsh has five runs scored, three RBIs and two stolen bases over that short stretch.
The Phillies' outfielder is enjoying a career season, sitting with a .324 average and .359 OBP over 68 games and 262 plate appearances so far. Marsh has 79 hits including 13 doubles, nine homers and two triples, plus 34 RBIs, 39 runs scored, seven stolen bases, 13 walks and 63 punchouts.
Marsh is playing regularly, and most importantly is delivering plenty at the plate. He should be rostered and utilized in all deeper leagues for sure right now, and that might remain the case all season if he just stays healthy.
While his bat is this hot, he deserves some ownership/utilization in standard leagues. I just added him in one of my standard leagues, and I'd suggest you at least entertain the idea, because Marsh is a very good fantasy asset right now.
Kody Clemens - Minnesota Twins
Clemens is up to 42% rostered. He was at 35% three days ago, and was at only 14% on June 7.
He homered among two hits on Tuesday, and had another two-hit outing three games ago. Clemens has 16 hits, 10 RBIs, 11 runs scored, nine extra-base hits, a stolen base, three walks and eight strikeouts over 14 games and 55 plate appearances this month.
Clemens is up to a .251 average and .318 OBP over 62 contests and 238 plate appearances this season. He has 15 doubles, 11 homers and two triples among his 54 total knocks, plus 28 RBIs, 32 runs scored, six stolen bases, 16 walks and 51 strikeouts.
He can play all over the field, so see where he's eligible. That position versatility makes him a sneaky-good deep-league fantasy asset. If he keeps producing at the plate, Clemens could also work into some standard leagues soon, but just treat him as a short-term option in those leagues.
George Springer - Toronto Blue Jays
Springer is trending back up after falling to roughly 69% owned. He's at 72% right now.
He has two hits in back-to-back games, and homered onTuesday. Springer also homered four games ago, and seems to be trending back up after a slow start to the year.
Springer has a .215 average and .309 OBP over 51 games and 226 plate appearances so far. He has 10 doubles, seven homers, 42 total hits, 19 RBIs, 22 runs scored, four stolen bases, 25 walks and 41 strikeouts.
The Blue Jays' primary designated hitter should still have outfield eligibility from last season. There's plenty of fantasy outfielders to choose from, but when right at the plate, Springer can be an above-average option.
He should be rostered in all deeper leagues yet, and now he's worth re-adding in standard leagues. Give him a look, especially if you are lacking with your current fantasy outfielders.
