Fantasy Baseball Weekly Projections: Top Waiver Wire & Streaming Pickups
A full breakdown of the top projected hitters and two-start pitchers to target on the waiver wire this week.
A new week is here, so it's time to go over fantasy baseball weekly projections and highlight some waiver wire/streaming pickups!
We have several players to get to, so let's dive right in!
Weekly fantasy baseball projections can be found on FantasySP all season! Daily projections are also available!
Hitters
Dominic Smith - Atlanta Braves
Smith is rostered in about 27% of fantasy baseball leagues right now. He has seven games scheduled for the coming week.
Smith has been red hot to open the 2026 season. He has a .353 average and .370 on-base percentage over 17 contests and 54 plate appearances. He also has four homers, two doubles, 18 total knocks, 16 RBIs, 10 runs scored, two walks and seven strikeouts.
He starts against right-handed starting pitchers, but hits in the bottom third of the lineup, which limits his fantasy upside a bit. Smith is still producing enough early on to add and utilize for a week.
Smith should be eligible at first base, at least. He has only been a designated hitter so far for the Braves, but he should be first base eligible from past years.
Dansby Swanson - Chicago Cubs
Swanson also has seven games that he could play in this week. He sits around 74% rostered though.
The Cubs' shortstop is hitting just .188, but he's getting on base at a .326 clip. He has 13 total knocks, four homers, one double, 12 RBIs, 19 runs scored, a stolen base, 15 walks and 21 strikeouts over 21 games and 86 plate appearances.
The average and strikeouts aren't great marks, but he's producing pretty well otherwise. His bat should heat up in time, but at least he's getting on base a good amount.
He's moreso a deep-league asset in my eyes, but on his bigger name, he's owned in a lot of standard leagues still. The projections like him this week, so keep tabs on him, if you don't want to add him today.
Mickey Moniak - Colorado Rockies
Moniak is another player who could play in seven games this week. He's owned in 35% of leagues.
Moniak is hitting .273 and getting on base at a .305 clip over 16 contests and 59 plate appearances. He has 15 total hits, three doubles, six homers, 12 RBIs, 10 runs scored, a stolen base, three walks and 14 strikeouts as well.
Moniak is nearly matching his marks from 2025, his first year in Colorado. His power numbers are up though, and he's taking advantage of the hitter-friendly confines of Colorado.
He might be part of a stacked outfield position, but I really like Moniak as a fantasy asset. He's worth adding and utilizing in deeper leagues, and in time, he could be worth standard league utilization.
Dillon Dingler - Detroit Tigers
Dingler sits near 63% rostered at this time. He has seven games that he could play in this week.
Dingler has a .302 average and .380 OBP over 19 games and 73 plate appearances so far. He has 18 RBIs, 10 runs scored, 19 total hits, four doubles, five home runs, four walks and 12 punchouts.
He put together a good 2025 showing, and is off to an even better start in 2026. I don't know if he can sustain it over a full season, but the catcher is definitely worth more fantasy ownership/utilization.
Really assess your catcher spot to see if Dingler is a better option. If he isn't, still consider adding the Detroit catcher, then utilizing him in a utility spot, because he's been very good early on.
Willson Contreras - Boston Red Sox
Contreras is yet another hitter with seven games lined up this week. He's rostered in 73% of leagues right now.
He has a .279 average and .417 OBP in his first season with Boston. Over 20 games and 84 plate appearances, Contreras has 12 RBIs, 10 runs scored, 19 total hits, four homers, two doubles, 11 walks and 24 strikeouts.
The first baseman strikes out a good deal, but has good stats otherwise. He's worth some more fantasy ownership.
He might not be worth adding in all leagues, but if you need a first baseman, or infielder, for a short stint, why not give Contreras a try.
Pitchers
Seth Lugo - Kansas City Royals
Lugo is one of five two-start pitchers I want to highlight at the start of the week. He has starts lined up against the Orioles and Angels, and is owned in 72% of leagues right now.
Lugo has made four starts this season. He's 1-1, but with a 1.48 earned run average. He's allowed five runs (four earned) on 18 hits and six walks over 24 1/3 innings. Lugo has struck out 21 batters.
He has had good fantasy seasons in the past, but regressed in 2025. Lugo appears on his way to a bounceback season.
At the very least, add and utilize Lugo as he's pitching well early on. Even in tougher tests, the veteran can deliver solid fantasy marks. I like his matchups this week, and think he continues his early-season success.
Connelly Early - Boston Red Sox
Early will be facing the Yankees and Orioles in his two starts this week. He's owned in 61% of leagues.
Early was good in four big league starts in 2025, and he's a touch better so far through four starts in 2026. He has a 2.29 ERA over 19 2/3 innings in his four outings so far.
Early is 1-0 and has 20 strikeouts along the way. He's allowed five runs on 15 hits and 10 walks.
The Yankees are a bit of a daunting matchup, but with how he's pitched so far, Early should be trusted until the numbers say otherwise. Don't avoid the young hurler just because the matchup might not be perfect.
Mick Abel - Minnesota Twins
Abel is sitting near 40% rostered right now. He has starts lined up against the Mets and Rays.
He has made four appearances so far, with three of them being starts. Abel has allowed nine runs over 20 1/3 innings, but five of those came in the relief appearance, and the other four were in his first start.
Abel is 1-0 with 16 punchouts over 13 scoreless innings in his past two starts. He's allowed 22 hits and 10 walks overall, but has also struck out 23 batters.
Abel is on the rise, and has solid matchups this week. He'll be a popular add the days of his starts, and should be trusted in deeper leagues, at least. He could work into standard leagues as well after what he's shown of late.
UPDATE: Abel has been placed on the 15-day injured list with elbow inflammation.
Keider Montero - Detroit Tigers
Montero is rostered in just 16% of leagues right now. He has starts lined up against the Brewers and Reds this coming week.
He's made three starts so far. He is 1-1 with a 3.31 ERA. Montero has allowed seven runs (six earned) on 12 hits and two walks over 16 1/3 innings, while striking out 15 batters.
Montero doesn't blow you away with his numbers, but he's had a solid start through three outings. I like his matchups this week and think he could surprise a couple times.
Montero is a better deep-league asset, but could at least be considered in standard leagues.
Michael McGreevy - St. Louis Cardinals
McGreevy has starts scheduled against the Marlins and Mariners. He's owned in about 30% of fantasy leagues right now.
McGreevy is 1-1 with a 2.49 ERA over his first four starts. He has allowed six runs on 15 hits and three walks, while striking out 12. So the WHIP is strong, but the strikeouts are a bit low.
His matchups this week are solid, and it could lead to more good results for the 25-year-old righty. He is worth some deep-league streams at least.
McGreevy is also worth considering in standard leagues, but there likely will be more than enough options available to choose over him.
