Josh Lowe provides flashes of power but remains a batting average liability for the struggling Angels

Lowe has been cold at the plate recently, batting just .176 over the last week, though he did connect for his eighth home run of the season on July 4. He is currently operating as a secondary option in left field for an Angels squad that sits last in the AL West with a 38-59 record. With injuries to teammates like Adam Frazier and Anthony Rendon, Lowe has pathways to playing time, but his .250 on-base percentage makes it difficult to maintain a consistent role.

His current .208 season average is a significant drop from his 2023 breakout of .291, though his eight homers put him on pace to exceed our season projection of 10. While his 30-day average of .271 offered a brief glimpse of hope, his overall 2026 performance suggests he is struggling to find the same rhythm he had in previous years. Without an improvement in his contact rate, his fantasy value is tied strictly to sporadic power and occasional speed.

The upcoming schedule is very light and difficult, featuring only three games at home against the Tigers starting Friday. Lowe will face a daunting Detroit rotation including Tarik Skubal and Troy Melton, who both carry ERAs near or below 3.00 and elite WHIPs. Given the extremely limited volume of games and the high-end caliber of the opposing starters, Lowe should remain out of active lineups in most formats. Sit.
