Minor League Standouts: Hitting Leaders You Need to Watch
Tracking the top-hitting prospects and minor leaguers making an early impact this season.
We just went over fantasy baseball hitters who are excelling and struggling in the early going, and now it's time to turn our attention to the minor leagues.
Here are some of the top-hitting prospects early on. I used FanGraphs to find players/stats, and filtered things to include only hitters with 20 or more at-bats.
Explore the best in-season tool to manage lineup/start decisions including waiver pickups, projections, trade suggestions, trade value charts, rest of season rankings, power rankings, and tons more with Fantasy Assistant.
James Tibbs III - Los Angeles Dodgers
Tibbs has the most hits in the minor leagues so far, with 18. He has four doubles, seven home runs and one triple. Tibbs also has 15 runs scored, 13 RBIs, five walks and nine strikeouts.
Tibbs is the No. 10 prospect for the Dodgers, and has a 2027 ETA, but he's playing in Triple-A now, and is 23, so he could really be called up this year.
He was part of the Rafael Devers trade, then sent to LA in the Dustin May deal. Tibbs has broken out in his first full season with the Dodgers.
He's one to keep an eye on, especially if an injury hits the LA outfield. Tibbs could be next in line for a call up. If he keeps hitting, there's a chance Tibbs is traded at the deadline, at which point he'd likely get called up.
So be keeping close tabs on Tibbs, as I think he is closer to an MLB debut than most.
Brian Serven - Athletics
Serven has the top batting average (.571), collecting 12 hits over 25 at-bats. He has four doubles, one triple and one home run, plus 10 runs scored, four RBIs, three walks and four strikeouts.
He is nearly 31 years old, so he's no longer a prospect. Serven is worth mentioning, especially being with an organization that will take all the help it can get at the big league level.
He's mostly caught over his baseball career, otherwise being a designated hitter. Serven has just a couple innings at first base. That doesn't give him a ton of ways to reach the big leagues.
Shea Langeliers is the team's regular catcher, and Austin Wynns backs him up. If Serven keeps hitting and Wynns struggles, Serven could get a call up. Otherwise, it'd likely take a change of scenery to get him in the big leagues.
He's not likely to turn into a big fantasy asset no matter what happens, but I'm talking about the best minor league hitters so far, and he's one of them.
Alika Williams - Pittsburgh Pirates
Williams is 27 years old, so he's another guy who isn't a prospect on the rise. He still could make the big leagues if he keeps hitting like he is now.
He has 13 hits over 26 plate appearances so far. Williams has four doubles and a triple, plus four runs scored, five RBIs, two walks and just one strikeout.
Williams was in the big leagues in 2023-24, playing in 83 combined games. The middle infielder will have a tough time reaching the big leagues with Brandon Lowe and Konnor Griffin at those positions now. An injury could help Williams get there, but he's not likely to be a big fantasy asset, even if he were to get daily big league starts.
William Bergolla Jr. - Chicago White Sox
Bergolla is the team's No. 11 prospect and has a 2026 ETA.
He has 13 hits over 31 plate appearances so far. Bergolla has four doubles among the hits, plus six RBIs, four runs scored, four walks and just two strikeouts.
The middle infielder could force his way to the big leagues, even with Chicago having locked-in starters at second base and shortstop. Chicago could look to move Bergolla around, in order to get him to the big leagues quicker.
Bergolla is worth watching, especially if a starter for Chicago gets injured. He should get called up at some point in 2026, so be ready to add him in some deeper leagues if that happens.
Blaze Jordan - St. Louis Cardinals
Jordan has 12 hits over his first 28 plate appearances. He has three homers and two doubles among the hits, plus eight RBIs, five runs scored, two walks and four strikeouts.
He's the team's No. 26 prospect and has a 2026 ETA. The corner infielder could force his way to the big leagues, or be called up if the Cardinals sell more at the trade deadline.
Jordan has put together good numbers in the minors, so be watching in case the 23-year-old gets called up.
Patrick Wisdom - Seattle Mariners
Wisdom is tied with Tibbs at seven home runs. Wisdom has 10 hits in total, with the other three being singles. He has 15 RBIs, eight runs scored, seven walks and five strikeouts.
The 34-year-old hasn't been in the big leagues since 2024, but could be worth a call up based on how he's done to start 2026. He can play all over the field, so that works in his favor.
He wouldn't be a huge fantasy asset if he gets called up, but he could have some deep-league appeal if he's playing enough. Keep tabs on him, but don't be adding him outside super deep redraft leagues.
Yanquiel Fernandez - New York Yankees
Fernandez is not a top-30 prospect for New York, as he played 52 games with Colorado in 2025.
He has five homers, a double and a triple among his 10 hits so far. Across 40 plate appearances, Fernandez also has nine runs scored, 10 RBIs, three walks and 11 strikeouts.
The outfielder will likely need injuries to New York outfielders or a change of scenery if he wants to get back to the big leagues and deliver in 2026.
Rece Hinds - Cincinnati Reds
Hinds is another hitter with MLB experience, playing 39 combined games between 2024-25.
He has four homers, two doubles and a triple among his 13 hits and 42 plate appearances. Hinds also has nine runs scored, 14 RBIs, seven walks and nine strikeouts.
The outfielder could rejoin the big league team if a regular starter gets injured, or as a bench option. He's only 25, so I bet the Reds give him another shot or two at the big leagues.
Christian Moore - Los Angeles Angels
Moore is off the prospect list after playing in 53 MLB games in 2025.
He has four hits, including two doubles, but 13 walks across 33 plate appearances. Moore has three RBIs, four runs scored and seven strikeouts.
Moore had just a .198 average and .284 OBP last season in the big leagues, so it's good to see him being patient in the minor leagues now.
He'll get called back up at some point in 2026, and hopefully he can post better numbers at that point. Be watching him for when he gets re-added to the big league team, and ready to pounce if he starts delivering more.
Zack Gelof - Athletics
Gelof is another minor league hitter excelling who has MLB experience. He's played in 237 MLB games between 2023-25.
Gelof has 14 hits, including four homers and three doubles, plus 10 walks over 44 plate appearances. He's struck out seven times, drove in 10 runs and scored 10 times.
The second baseman could get another crack at the big leagues if the team's platoon of Jeff McNeil and Andy Ibanez doesn't produce enough.
Gelof would need to be playing daily and delivering more to re-emerge as a fantasy asset. It's not crazy to expect it, but it seems pretty unlikely at this point. He's worth watching anyways.
Jimmy Crooks - St. Louis Cardinals
Crooks is the team's No. 8 prospect after debuting in 2025.
Across 26 plate appearances this season, Crooks has eight hits, including three home runs and one double. He also has seven runs scored, six RBIs, five walks and six strikeouts.
The primary catcher might need an injury at the big league level to get called back up. Pedro Pages and Yohel Pozo are the primary catchers this year, and Ivan Herrera is another option - he usually is the designated hitter.
We'll see if the team gives Crooks another crack at the big leagues soon, so be watching him. He'd need to be regularly starting in the big leagues to be a legit fantasy asset.
