Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire: Opening Day Streaming Targets & Adds
Looking for pitching help on Opening Day? Here are the top waiver wire adds and streamers to consider, all of which are pitchers.
The MLB regular season opened last night with the Yankees drubbing the Giants, but today is truly Opening Day, with most of the other MLB teams kicking off action today.
Here, let's go over another round of fantasy baseball waiver wire options. Here are stories we did on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Fantasy baseball waiver wire options can be found all season on FantasySP!
Matthew Liberatore - St. Louis Cardinals
Liberatore has been added in 4.05% of fantasy leagues today, bringing his overall mark to 32.21%.
Liberatore is one of the rare fantasy starting pitchers you could stream on Opening Day. He will get the nod against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Liberatore transitioned to being a full-time starter in 2025, and had decent results. He worked 151 2/3 innings over 29 starts, going 8-12 with a 4.21 earned run average. Liberatore struck out 122 batters and had a WHIP of 1.31.
St. Louis' roster is decimated after an offseason of moves, but that should only negatively affect pitchers a little bit. Wins might be a bit harder to come by, and ERA's might increase with unproven players in the field around the pitchers.
I like Liberatore as a fantasy asset, especially in deeper leagues. He was a standard league option at times in 2025, and he could be again in 2026 if he shows good results. Today, I'm good with streaming him in deeper leagues, but I'd stop short of trying him in standard leagues until we see if he can improve his stats a bit.
Brandon Sproat - Milwaukee Brewers
Sproat is rostered in 25.48% of leagues after being added in 6.55% of leagues.
Sproat was traded to Milwaukee in the Freddy Peralta trade over the offseason. He made the team's initial roster and will make his first start on Sunday against the Chicago White Sox.
Sproat has been a pretty highly-regarded pitching prospect on his rise through the minor leagues. He got in four big league starts with the Mets in 2025, going 0-2 with a 4.79 ERA over 20 2/3 innings. Sproat allowed 11 runs on 18 hits and seven walks, while striking out 17 batters.
Being in the big league rotation gives him some fantasy upside, and being in an organization that always seems to get the best out of pitchers is another plus for Sproat. His matchup on Sunday is also a good one, so I like the idea of adding/streaming him.
He'll be a good option in deeper leagues, but probably needs to prove himself a bit before you try him in standard leagues. Keep an eye on Sproat and be ready to add him if he excels early in the season.
Will Warren - New York Yankees
Warren is up 4.46% and now sits at 40.87% overall.
Warren made the Yankees' initial roster and will be starting Saturday against the Giants. After Max Fried shut down the Giants on Opening Night, Warren was going to get a slight boost before he took the mound.
Warren is coming off a 33-start campaign in 2025. He went 9-8 with a 4.44 ERA over 162 1/3 innings. Warren struck out 171 batters along the way.
Warren was really good in spring training, sporting a 1.42 ERA over 25 1/3 innings, while striking out 22 batters. That doesn't always translate to the regular season, but I'd rather have pitchers who excelled already than ones that struggled.
Warren is another good deep-league asset, and he's the best standard league streamer we've discussed today. Unless he lowers his ERA from last year though, he'll likely be more of a streaming pickup than a long-term asset in standard leagues.
Jordan Romano - Los Angeles Angels
Romano is owned in 11.06% of leagues after being picked up in 4.75% today.
Romano is another pitcher to discuss, but this time, it's a reliever. He's expected to close games for LA, at least to start the 2026 season.
Romano has 113 saves over his seven-year career, but has just 16 over the past two years. He had 36 saves in 2022 and 2023, so he's fallen off a bit since then.
Romano had an ugly 8.23 ERA over 42 2/3 innings last year, which is the bigger issue. He landed on a team needing a closer, which is why he's the best option the team has for now. Romano will need to pitch well in order to hold that role.
Romano is just a deep-league fantasy asset to kick off the regular season, and he'll need to pitch really well in order to sneak into standard leagues one day. Los Angeles might not even win enough to support him in that role, but he's worth watching nevertheless.
Jose Soriano - Los Angeles Angels
Soriano is sitting at 55% owned, which is up over 3% already today.
We'll end with another streaming starting pitcher option for Thursday. He is getting the ball against the Rangers tonight.
Soriano regressed in 2025 across 31 starts. He was 10-11 with a 4.26 ERA over 169 innings. He struck out 152 batters and had a 1.40 WHIP.
In 22 games (20 starts) in 2025, Soriano was 6-7 with a 3.42 ERA over 113 innings, and he struck out 97 batters. He's a bounceback candidate going into his age-27-season.
The Angels might not be a very good team this season, but that doesn't mean Soriano and others couldn't be fantasy assets. He's a very good deep-league asset, and could work back into standard leagues permanently with better results in 2026.
I'm good with streaming him in standard leagues until he proves it. The matchup isn't a fantastic one because of who is in the Rangers' lineup, but Texas struggled last year, so it's also not a matchup to avoid right away.
