Baseball Is Back: Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pickups to Consider
A fresh batch of fantasy baseball waiver wire targets as the MLB season officially gets underway.
The MLB regular season opens today! Well, there's just one game between the Yankees and Giants, but it's still exciting to have baseball back.
Here, let's go over another round of fantasy baseball waiver wire options. We won't cover anyone who appeared in Tuesday's waiver article.
Fantasy baseball waiver wire options can be found all season on FantasySP!
Connelly Early - Boston Red Sox
Early is up 4% today and sits around 44% now.
Early has made the big league roster out of spring training, and will start opening weekend. He is getting the start on Sunday against the Reds.
He made his MLB debut in 2025, making four starts. Early worked 19 1/3 innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on 17 hits and four walks, while striking out 29 batters. Early was just 1-2 though.
Everyone is intrigued to see how Early fares in his first full season in the big leagues, and we get to see him right away, which is great. The Red Sox rotation is stacked, so he'll need to pitch well to stick in it all season.
I like the idea of adding him in deeper leagues, and holding him for as long as he sticks in the MLB starting rotation for the Red Sox. Early can also be a standard league streaming option too, and could become a hold in those leagues if he's pitching well, so keep close tabs on the young hurler.
Robert Garcia - Texas Rangers
Garcia is up nearly 5% so far today, bringing his overall mark close to 54%.
Garcia is projected to split the closer role in Texas with Chris Martin. Even splitting the role, Garcia could be a good fantasy asset in deeper leagues, thus why fantasy owners are adding him today.
He pitched in 71 games for Texas in 2025. He had just a 4-8 record, but earned nine saves and had a 2.95 earned run average. Garcia struck out 68 batters over 64 innings.
That level of production is good enough to utilize him in deeper leagues, so those are the leagues I'd add him in. He'd need to get all the save opportunities to sneak into standard leagues eventually.
He's worth watching, but just consider adding him in deeper leagues for the time being.
Bryson Stott - Philadelphia Phillies
Stott has been added in 4.42% of leagues, bringing his overall mark to over 80%.
Stott is projected to be in a platoon at second base, and as a left-handed hitter, Stott should play plenty. He's also projected to hit fifth in that stacked lineup, which is also good for his fantasy outlook.
In 147 games last season, Stott had a .257 average and .328 on-base percentage. He had 128 hits, including 22 doubles and 13 home runs. Stott also has 66 RBIs and runs scored, 24 stolen bases, 54 walks and 91 strikeouts.
Stott is a good deep-league asset, and is worth owning in some standard leagues, just not all of them. If he's playing daily and delivering good stats, then he could work into most standard leagues, so keep tabs on how Stott is doing.
Paul Sewald - Arizona Diamondbacks
Sewald is up to 22% owned. He's steadily been on the rise over the past week, which coincides with drafts being wrapped up.
Sewald is back in Arizona and is expected to close games for the D-Backs. That gives him some fantasy value, of course.
Over his nine-year career, Sewald has a 4.11 ERA. He has posted 4.58 and 4.31 ERAs over the past two seasons. If he is saving some games though, he has some fantasy intrigue.
He's past his prime and is likely to have a higher ERA again, but with saves and some decent strikeout marks, Sewald could be a decent fantasy option in deeper leagues.
Consider adding him in deeper leagues, and keep tabs on him in case he shines. He'd need to have a much lower ERA and be saving a bunch of games to work into standard leagues, but crazier things have happened.
Chase DeLauter - Cleveland Guardians
DeLauter is rostered in about 30% of fantasy leagues right now. He's up about 10% over the past two days.
DeLauter was a high-end prospect on his rise through the minor leagues. He's dealt with injuries, but it didn't stop the Guardians from adding the youngster to last year's postseason roster. They made that call with DeLauter only having played two games in the big leagues.
He's projected to hit sixth and start daily in right field for Cleveland. That's a good start for some fantasy value.
If he's delivering up to his potential, then he could be a great fantasy asset, and would likely earn a higher spot in the order. For now, he's an intriguing deep-league asset, and could work into standard leagues in time.
Keep close tabs on DeLauter and add him if he excels early. Just know there's some injury concern as well.
