Top-10 Shortstops

Pittsburgh's Konnor Griffin is the No. 1 prospect in all of baseball. He can also play the outfield. Griffin was the ninth overall pick in 2024 and has a 2026 ETA despite being only 19 years old.

He played at three minor league levels last season, making it up to Double-A. Griffin had a .333 average and .415 on-base percentage over 122 total games. He's one to keep tabs on, but he might not make the big league team right out of spring training.

Detroit's Kevin McGonigle is the No. 2 SS. He's 21 years old, was the 37th overall pick in 2023 and has a 2026 ETA.

Over three years and 183 minor league games, McGonigle has a .308 average and .410 OBP. He should push for an MLB spot to open the 2026 season. McGonigle will be a good fantasy asset in all leagues when he gets called up, so keep tabs on him.

Milwaukee's Jesus Made is a middle infielder who is 18 years old. He's made it to Double-A already after being signed in 2024. Made has a 2027 ETA.

Over 166 minor league games, Made has a .298 average and .402 OBP. I think there's a chance he makes the big leagues in 2026, but right now, he is a better dynasty asset.

Athletics' Leodalis De Vries is a 19-year-old who has made it to Double-A. He was signed in 2024 and has a 2026 ETA.

De Vries has a .248 average and .358 OBP over 193 minor league games. He's dropped several spots already, and could slip even more unless his hitting picks up - I'd expect him to be called up to the big leagues at some point in 2026.

St. Louis' J.J. Wetherholt is an infielder who is primarily a shortstop. He's 23 years old and has a 2026 ETA after being the seventh overall pick in 2024.

In 138 minor league games over two years, Wetherholt has a .304 average and .418 OBP. He has a great chance to make the MLB team out of spring training, so he has redraft value already, and that's for all fantasy setups.

Texas' Sebastian Walcott can also play third base. The 19-year-old has a 2026 ETA after being signed in 2023.

Across three years and 293 minor league games, Walcott has a .258 average and .347 OBP. After topping out at Double-A, I see a call up later in the 2026 season, not right away, so we'll see if he can surprise.

Seattle's Colt Emerson is the No. 7 shortstop in the rankings. The 20-year-old has a 2026 ETA and was the No. 22 pick back in 2023.

Over three years and in 224 minor league games, Emerson has a .287 average and .398 OBP. He has a shot to make the MLB team out of spring training, and will have pretty good fantasy value if he does.

Washington's Eli Willits is 18 years old and has a 2028 ETA after being last summer's No. 1 pick.

In 15 Single-A games, Willits posted a .300 average and .397 OBP. We'll see if he can move up his ETA with more good/great hitting numbers. He's a dynasty asset only for 2026 though.

Philadelphia's Aidan Miller is a 21-year-old who also has a 2026 ETA. He was the 27th overall pick in 2023.

Miller has a .265 average and .383 OBP over three years and 238 minor league games so far. He'll have a chance to make the big league team right away, but with only eight AAA games under his belt, he could get a bit more seasoning there first before a call up.

Colorado's Ethan Holliday is the No. 10 ranked shortstop. Last summer's No. 4 pick has a 2029 ETA and is just 18 years old.

Holliday played in 18 Single-A games, posting a .239 average and .357 OBP. We'll see if he can improve his numbers in his first full minor league season - if he does, he'll move up the prospect list.

Other Top-100 Ranked SSs

Holliday is ranked 24th, so there's a number of shortstops in the top 100 we need to discuss yet.

Milwaukee's Luis Pena is just 19 years old, has a 2028 ETA and was signed in 2024. He can play around the infield, which will help his chances of being called up over time.

Pena has a .307 average and .372 OBP over two years and 140 minor league games so far. He's a year-plus away from a potential MLB debut, but he's a dynasty asset to stash, and maybe he gets called up sooner than 2028.

Boston's Franklin Arias is 20 years old, was signed in 2023 and has a 2027 ETA.

He has a .299 average and .377 OBP over three years and 240 minor league games. Arias has 10 games of AA experience, so he needs more seasoning in the minors, but I could also see him being called up later in 2026.

New York Yankees' George Lombard Jr. is another shortstop that could move around the infield. He's 20 years old, has a 2027 ETA and was a first-round pick in 2023.

Lombard has a .236 average and .359 OBP over 255 minor league games in three years, so he needs some more minor league seasoning. We'll see if his bat heats up in 2026.

Detroit's Bryce Rainer was the No. 11 pick in 2024, is 20 years old and has a 2028 ETA.

In 35 games last season at Single-A, Rainer had a .288 average and .383 OBP. We'll see if he can keep that up in a full season of action.

San Francisco's Josuar de Jesus Gonzalez was signed in early 2025, is just 18 years old and has a 2029 ETA.

Gonzalez posted a .288 average and .404 OBP over 52 games in rookie ball. He's got a long way to go, but is a prospect to stash in deeper dynasty leagues.

Toronto's JoJo Parker was last summer's No. 8 pick. He's 19 years old and has a 2029 ETA.

He's yet to play in the minor leagues, so it'll be good to see him in action in 2026. Parker is a couple years away from debuting.

Miami's Aiva Arquette is 22 years old, has a 2028 ETA and was last summer's No. 7 pick.

He got in 27 High-A games, delivering a .242 average and .350 OBP. We'll see if the Marlins continue to push him, and maybe move that ETA up a year.

Milwaukee's Jett Williams can also play second base and the outfield. He's 22 years old, has a 2026 ETA and was part of the recent Brewers-Mets trade.

He's got a chance to make the MLB team right away, especially because he can play three spots. Williams has a .256 average and .388 OBP over four years and 294 minor league games. Keep an eye on him in spring training.

Minnesota's Kaelen Culpepper is a 23-year-old who was drafted 21st in 2024 and has a 2027 ETA.

He's made it to Double-A, and has a .280 average and .367 OBP so far. Culpepper could push for a call up in 2026, so I'm not writing him completely off, but he is still a better dynasty asset.

Chicago' Caleb Bonemer can also play third base. He's 20 years old, was the 43rd pick in 2024 and has a 2028 ETA.

Bonemer made it up to High-A, and played 107 minor league games overall last year. He had a .281 average and .401 OBP. Bonemer could rise through the ranks quickly, especially considering the organization he's with, but he's just a dynasty asset right now.

Tampa Bay's Carson Williams is 22 years old, was drafted 28th overall back in 2021 and made his MLB debut in 2025.

Williams had a .172 average and .219 OBP over 32 MLB games. He had a much better .247 average and .345 OBP over 465 minor league games. Williams is just a deep-league fantasy asset to kick off 2026.

Milwaukee's Cooper Pratt is 21 years old, was a sixth-round pick in 2023 and has a 2026 ETA.

Pratt has a .261 average and .355 OBP over 228 minor league games in three years so far. He struggled a bit with his average in AA last season, but his OBP was good. Pratt could be a call up option later in the season, especially if Milwaukee is in need of shortstop help.

Cleveland's Angel Genao is 21 years old, has a 2026 ETA and was signed by the team in 2021.

In five years and over 359 minor league games, Genao has a .289 average and .366 OBP. He still hasn't made it to AAA, so I'd expect him in the minors at least to open the 2026 season.

Chicago White Sox' Billy Carlson is 19 years old, was the 10th pick in last summer's draft and has a 2029 ETA.

He hasn't played in the minors yet, so I'm intrigued to see how he fares. Carlson is worth stashing in some deeper dynasty setups, but he's years from debuting.

Toronto's Arjun Nimmala is 20 years old, was a first-round pick in 2023 and has a 2028 ETA.

Nimmala has a .227 average and .325 OBP over 219 minor league games in three years. He needs to improve in order to stick in the top-100 rankings, and move closer to the big leagues.

Cincinnati's Steele Hall is 18 years old, was the ninth pick last summer and has a 2029 ETA.

He hasn't played any minor league games yet, so we'll see how he fares in 2026. Hall is another guy to stash in deeper leagues.

Los Angeles Dodgers' Emil Morales is just 19 years old, was signed in 2024 and has a 2029 ETA.

Morales has a .322 average and .423 OBP over 135 minor league games in two years so far. He could move that ETA up with more good numbers in the next year or so in the minor leagues.

New York Yankees' Dax Kilby is 19 years old, was drafted 39th overall last summer and has a 2028 ETA.

In 18 Single-A games, Kilby had a .353 average and .457 OBP. He too could move that ETA up with more good hitting numbers in his climb up the minor league ranks.
