From Travis Bazzana to rising talent like Michael Arroyo and Tommy Troy, we break down the top second base prospects.

RubberDucks second baseman Travis Bazzana throws to first base in a game against the Altoona Curve on April 13, 2025, in Akron, Ohio.
RubberDucks second baseman Travis Bazzana throws to first base in a game against the Altoona Curve on April 13, 2025, in Akron, Ohio.

Let's continue our look at the top-ranked prospects at every position by going over second basemen.

We have looked at third basemen, first basemen, catchers, right-handed pitchers and left-handed pitchers so far. Keep checking back for more!

Just two second base prospects were in the most recent version of top-100 prospects, so we are just going to discuss the top-10 second base prospects in order.

Travis Bazzana - Cleveland Guardians

Bazzana is the top second base prospect, coming in 20th overall. He's 23 years old, was the first overall pick in 2024 and is expected to make his MLB debut in 2026.

Bazzana only has a .243 average across 111 minor league games so far, but a .384 on-base percentage keeps him as a highly-touted prospect.

I'd expect him up in the first half of the MLB season, if not right away after spring training. Keep an eye on him throughout spring training, and be ready to add him in a lot of fantasy leagues if he gets called up.

Michael Arroyo - Seattle Mariners

Arroyo is the No. 2 second baseman and the No. 67 prospect overall. The 21-year-old was signed by Seattle back in 2022, and he's expected to debut in the 2026 season.

Arroyo has posted a .275 average and .408 OBP over 351 minor league games in his four years of experience.

He has the chance to be another first-half call up, so he's another to keep tabs on this coming season.

Brice Matthews - Houston Astros

Matthews is the No. 3 2B. He made his MLB debut in 2025. The 23-year-old was a first-round pick in 2023.

Matthews struggled to a .167 average and .222 OBP over 13 MLB games last season.

He had a much better .254 average and .375 OBP over 226 career minor league games. We'll see if he can put together better results at the big league level, but for now, he just looks like a deep-league option.

Tommy Troy - Arizona Diamondbacks

Troy is 24 years old and is hoping to make his MLB debut in 2026. He was a first-round pick of the team in 2023.

He has a .270 average and .361 OBP over 224 minor league games. Troy can also play the outfield, so that works in his favor.

Troy has made it to Triple-A, so he likely doesn't need too much more time in the minors before he gets called up. He's another prospect to keep closer tabs on going into 2026.

Max Anderson - Detroit Tigers

Anderson also can play a couple spots - he also could be an option at third base. He's 23 years old, was a second-round pick in 2023 and has a 2026 ETA.

Anderson has a .282 average and .334 OBP over 280 minor league games so far.

He too has played in Triple-A already, so it shouldn't take too much longer for him to get called up. So add Anderson to the list of second base prospects to watch for the coming season.

Demetrio Crisantes - Arizona Diamondbacks

Crisantes is another second baseman who could also play third base. He's 21 years old, was a seventh-round pick back in 2022 and has a 2027 ETA.

Crisantes has a .323 average and .412 OBP over 155 minor league games, but didn't fare nearly that well in High-A last season.

He could use some more minor league seasoning, but a late 2026 call up is possible, especially if the D-Backs are banged up. With a couple teammates also a part of this story, it likely won't be until 2027 that we see Crisantes in the big leagues (unless trades help his cause).

Aroon Escobar - Philadelphia Phillies

Escobar is a 21-year-old who has a 2028 ETA. He was signed in 2022 by the Phillies.

Over four years, Escobar has a .262 average and .378 OBP over 225 minor league games.

He's a ways off from the big leagues, but could move his ETA up with a good showing in 2026. Escobar briefly played at Double-A, so he's only got a couple levels to go.

JD Dix - Arizona Diamondbacks

Dix is the third Diamondback prospect on the second base list. The 20-year-old has a 2028 ETA and was the 35th overall pick in 2024.

Between two minor league stops in 2025, Dix had a .297 average and .404 OBP over 89 games.

He only made it to Single-A though, so Dix is still a ways off from a possible MLB debut. Dix is a dynasty asset to hold depending on the league size.

Roc Riggio - Colorado Rockies

Riggio is 23 years old and is expected to debut in 2026. He was a fourth-round pick back in 2023.

In three minor league seasons, Riggio has a .235 average and .359 OBP, although he improved to a .262 average and .363 OBP over 88 games last season.

He topped out at Double-A, but could push for an earlier call up this season with a strong spring, or good minor league numbers in Triple-A, which is the level I'd expect him to be at if he doesn't make the opening day roster.

Sam Antonacci - Chicago White Sox

Antonacci is another second baseman who can also play third base - that increases the chances of a prospect being called up. He's 22 years old, was a fifth-round pick in 2024 and has a 2027 ETA.

Antonacci has a .298 average and .439 OBP over 139 minor league games in two years. He made it to Double-A last year.

I think there's a chance he makes the big leagues in 2026, especially after looking at the organization he's in.
