Should You Add Jacob Lopez?
Lopez has been added in 7.77% of leagues, bringing his overall mark up to 46.95%.
He's another streaming option on Monday. Lopez will face off against the Rays. It'll be the first time in 2025 that Lopez has faced Tampa Bay.
Lopez has started seven times this season, and made 11 appearances overall. He's 2-4 with a 3.56 earned run average over 43 innings. Lopez has allowed 20 runs (17 earned) on 39 hits and 17 walks, while striking out 55 batters.
Lopez has been stellar in his past four starts, going 2-0 with a 0.39 ERA. Over 23 innings, he's allowed two runs (one earned) on 14 hits and seven walks, while punching out 29.
He's had some favorable matchups over that span, and another solid matchup on Monday is making Lopez a great waiver/streaming option. It's not just a streaming opportunity though, as Lopez faced the Giants maybe after that - that's another favorable matchup to stream Lopez in.
I like the idea of streaming Lopez for his Monday start, and that's true in standard or deeper redraft leagues. He's very close to being a must-start pitcher in deeper leagues.
If he looks good in this outing, I'd keep rostering Lopez for that start against the Giants. He'll be in a similar boat for that outing, but off another good start, would be a bit more popular streaming choice.
Should You Add Otto Lopez?
Lopez is up 6.54% today - he sits at 38.41% overall.
Lopez is on a 10-game hitting streak, collecting 17 hits over that span. He has two doubles and triples among those hits, along with 15 RBIs, 10 runs scored, a stolen base, four walks and five strikeouts.
He's not going to keep hitting .415, or getting on base at a .478 clip, but he has pretty solid season-long numbers now. Over 67 games and 278 plate appearances, Lopez has a .260 average and .331 OBP. He has nine doubles and eight home runs among his 65 total hits, along with 40 RBIs, 65 runs scored, nine stolen bases, 25 walks and 38 strikeouts.
Lopez has played second base and shortstop this season, and might be eligible at other positions from past seasons. The more positions he's eligible at, the more valuable he is as a fantasy asset.
Lopez is a really good deep-league asset right now, and I'd say he's getting close to being a must-own player in those leagues. It might not last the remainder of the season, but Lopez should be added and kept in deeper leagues for the time being.
In a pinch, I also wouldn't mind streaming Lopez in standard leagues. I'd only do that if I had an open roster spot or was looking for some short-term help.
Should You Add Spencer Steer?
Steer is up 5.59% overall and is at 65.24% overall now.
Steer made headlines over the weekend with a three-homer game, but he's been on a tear for a week-plus now. During an ongoing eight-game hitting streak, Steer has a .469 average and .471 OBP. He has 15 total hits, including three homers, a double and a triple. Steer also has seven RBIs, six runs scored, two stolen bases, a walk and only five strikeouts in that stretch.
He got off to a rough start at the plate this season, so his .254 average and .306 OBP figures still don't look great. Steer has 72 total hits, including 13 doubles, nine homers and a triple. He has 32 RBIs, 34 runs scored, six stolen bases, 21 walks and 77 strikeouts.
Steer has played first base and left and right field this season, and might have extra position versatility elsewhere from past seasons. The thing you need to know is that he's in the lineup daily for the Reds.
He's around his career average, while being below his career OBP so far this season. Steer has inconsistent results over his first three years in the big leagues, and it's continued this season.
Steer was looking like a draft bust earlier this season, but is trending in the right direction now. He's working his way back into standard leagues again.
Steer should be added and started somehow in deeper leagues right now. He should remain a pretty solid option in those leagues all season. At the very least, he's a good backup option.
Steer is a worthwhile pickup in some standard leagues as well right now, especially if you need help at first base or in the outfield. He won't stay as hot as he's been for the whole year, but he's at least worth rolling with during his hot stretch at the plate.
Should You Add Cam Smith?
Smith is still trending up, and is now rostered in 54.57% of leagues. He's up 4.86% today.
He went hitless on Sunday, but had a .355 average and .410 OBP over the 21 games and 83 plate appearances before that. Smith had four homers and five doubles among his 27 hits in that stretch, along with 16 RBIs, 14 runs scored, two stolen bases, six walks and 17 strikeouts.
Smith has played in 70 games and logged 266 plate appearances so far this season. He has a .276 average and .350 OBP - he was at a .245 average and .330 OBP before that 21-game stretch. Smith has 13 doubles, seven homers and a triple among his 66 total hits, along with 33 RBIs, 32 runs scored, four stolen bases, 23 walks and 71 strikeouts.
The right fielder has started to find his footing in his first big league season. The 22-year-old is a better dynasty/keeper asset, but he's doing enough, especially of late, to be a redraft fantasy option too.
There's plenty of fantasy outfielders to go around, but there's a good chance Smith has outperformed a couple of your other options right now. That means he's a standard league option, but not a must-add hitter.
Smith should be rostered in all deeper redraft leagues at this point. He should remain a good fantasy option in those leagues for the remainder of the season too.
Should You Add Michael Wacha?
Wacha has been added in 2.98% of leagues and sits at 65.55% overall now.
He will make a start against the Mariners on Monday, so he's another streaming option. Wacha hasn't faced Seattle yet this season.
Wacha has made 16 starts, with the Royals going 8-8 in those games. He's 4-7, but with a 3.33 ERA. In his 92 innings, Wacha has allowed 34 runs on 88 hits and 24 walks, while striking out 74 batters.
Wacha gave up nine hits and a walk in his last start, but allowed just three runs, and also struck out nine batters. He has at least five punchouts in five straight starts. Wacha allowed five runs in one of those games, one run in another, three runs on two occasions and then had a shutout for the other performance in that five-start stretch.
Wacha is an underrated fantasy asset, probably because of his win-loss record. If you look past that, you find a pitcher with a good ERA and solid strikeout totals.
Wacha is a good deep-league option for most starts, and today is no different. I'd call him close to a must-start option in those leagues.
He's a fine standard league streaming option for the day as well. He has a tougher matchup against the Diamondbacks looming after this start, so now is the day to stream Wacha.
