Fantasy Baseball Hitters Trending Down: Jung Hoo Lee, Michael Harris II and More

Looking at hitting stats from the past week to see what fantasy hitters are trending down.

After looking at some fantasy baseball hitters on the rise, let's now go over some fantasy hitters trending down.

Again, we'll be using stats from June 17-23. We'll only mention notable fantasy hitters.

Use the FantasySP Trade Value Chart and Trade Analyzer all season when assessing fantasy baseball trades. Also be sure to check out the new “Ask Fantasy Expert” tool inside the analyzer.

Least Amount of Hits

Among qualified hitters, Toronto's Andres Gimenez and San Francisco's Jung Hoo Lee are among the notable names with only one hit over the timeframe we are using.

Gimenez singled for his lone hit, while failing to drive in a run. He had a run scored and four strikeouts, while also being hit by four pitches and grounding into a double play. Gimenez has had a rough go of things this season, and probably shouldn't even be rostered in 34% of leagues, like he is now.

Lee singled for his only hit last week. He also had two runs scored and RBIs, along with two walks and one strikeout. Lee didn't hurt himself much with punchouts, but he failed to deliver again at the plate. He's a big-time drop candidate of late, and is down to 82% owned now.

No Runs Scored

Cleveland's Jose Ramirez, Atlanta's Michael Harris II and Washington's Brady House all failed to score a run last week.

Ramirez is definitely the most notable name there. He still had a solid fantasy week with seven hits, including a double, two RBIs and walks and just one strikeout. The offense around him can hurt Ramirez from time to time, so it makes him someone to at least consider selling, especially if your team needs a jumpstart.

Harris is at 84% rostered, so he's a pretty big-time fantasy asset as well. He had just two hits (including a double) over the past week, along with two RBIs, no walks, a stolen base, five strikeouts and a double play. Harris is a bit of an overrated fantasy hitter in my eyes and not deserving of being rostered in that many leagues - maybe you could sell high because of his bigger name?

House isn't a big-time fantasy asset yet, but after just being called up, he's worth going over. He had eight hits, including a double last week. House had three RBIs, a walk, two stolen bases and five strikeouts as well. He's at 16% rostered right now, and could get a decent boost with a similar week of production, especially if he scores a couple times.

No RBIs

LA Dodgers' Freddie Freeman, Cleveland's Lane Thomas, Athletics' Brent Rooker, Boston's Abraham Toro, Toronto's Ernie Clement, Houston's Yainer Diaz, Boston's Jarren Duran, Colorado's Brenton Doyle, Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom and Chicago White Sox' Chase Meidroth were among the notable fantasy hitters with no RBIs last week.

This was the second straight week in which Freeman had no RBIs, which is honestly pretty wild. He had singles for all four of his hits, along with three runs scored, no walks and five strikeouts. I'm not going to panic about Freeman, but some might, so you could maybe buy low on him.

Thomas had two singles for his lone hits last week. He added a run scored, two walks, a stolen base and five strikeouts. Thomas has had a rough season and is down to just 13% rostered, and it probably shouldn't even be that high.

Rooker had a triple and five singles for his six hits last week. Rooker also had three runs scored, four walks and seven strikeouts. It wasn't his finest week of fantasy production, but he's done enough this season to still be rostered in every league.

Toro doubled among his four hits last week, while also tallying two runs scored, no walks and four strikeouts. Toro was owned in about 40% of leagues on June 15, but is down to 24% today, showing a hot stretch and then cooldown period.

Clement didn't drive in a run over the past week, but he did have 10 hits, including a double. He also scored three runs, failed to walk, struck out three times and also grounded into a double play. Clement is on the rise and is owned in 35% of leagues, and could rise more over the next week if his bat stays hot and he adds some RBIs to the mix.

Diaz singled for all four of his hits last week. He also had two runs scored, a walk and five strikeouts. Diaz has improved since a terrible start to the season, but is still underperforming this season. He's up to 89% rostered.

Duran doubled among his four hits last week, and he added a run scored and stolen base, no walks and four strikeouts. Duran is still owned in just about every league, but he's a buy-low candidate based on what he's done so far, and what he delivered last season.

Doyle had two doubles among his four hits last week, along with four runs scored, no walks, a stolen base and five strikeouts. Doyle is actually trending up with his own percentage, although it's at just 43%.

Soderstrom singled for all five of his hits last week. He added three runs scored, no walks, a stolen base and five punchouts. Soderstrom has cooled off from his red-hot start to the season, but is still owned in 94% of leagues. Fantasy owners are choosing to bench him instead of dropping him, for now - that makes this a buy-low time if you believe in Soderstrom bouncing back.

Meidroth singled for his four hits last week, while also tallying three runs scored and walks, a stolen base and seven strikeouts - he also grounded into a double play. Meidroth is trending down as a fantasy asset, and is owned in just 23% of leagues after being at 54% on May 27 and 41% on June 13.

Most Strikeouts

New York Mets' Pete Alonso and Pittsburgh's Oneil Cruz had 12 strikeouts each last week.

Alonso homered among his six total hits, while also tallying a run scored and RBI and two walks. It was a down week for one of the better fantasy hitters in the game. Alonso wasn't going to keep up his early-season pace all season, which is what made him a sell-high candidate then, and now.

Cruz had three hits over the past week, and they all were singles. He had a run scored, RBI, walk and stolen base as well. He's ever so slightly starting to trend down, but is still at 97% rostered. Sell him now before it becomes time to drop him outright.

LA Angels' Mike Trout struck out 11 times last week. He made the hitters trending up story because he also had five hits (including a homer) and eight walks. Trout had five runs scored and an RBI as well. He's a sell-high candidate for those who are worried about his injury history, but he could also be a reasonably-priced trade asset.

Cincinnati's Tyler Stephenson and LA Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani both struck out 11 times over the past week.

Stephenson had a double among his three hits, along with two runs scored, an RBI, three walks and two double play groundouts. He has mostly trended up since returning to the field, but the big strikeout totals might hold him back from rising much higher than his current 52% own mark.

Ohtani had a triple and a homer among his four knocks. He added six RBIs, three runs scored and walks and also grounded into a double play. Ohtani still put up solid fantasy numbers despite the big strikeout totals - his fantasy value isn't going to ever go down much, especially now that he's back pitching.

Other Hitters Trending Down

Texas' Josh Jung had a .091 OBP over 22 plate appearances last week. He had two hits, including a double, and no walks. Jung had a run scored, three RBIs and five strikeouts. Jung's own percentage is trending down and sits at 43% right now.

New York Mets' Jeff McNeil had a .130 OBP over 23 plate appearances. He had three hits, including a homer, and no walks, along with two runs scored, an RBI and a double play groundout. McNeil was on the rise as a fantasy asset last week, but is trending back down now - he sits at 31% owned.

New York Yankees' Paul Goldschmidt had a .136 OBP over 22 plate appearances. He doubled among his two hits and walked once. Goldy also had four runs scored, an RBI and seven punchouts. He's had a good season overall, and sits at 95% rostered now - his lower production of late could make him a good buy-low candidate.
