Should You Add Logan Allen?
Allen has gotten off to a hot start in 2025, so he's on the rise. He's up 7.94% at the time of publication, bringing his total mark to 36.71%.
Allen is 1-1 with a 2.11 earned run average across four starts so far. He's allowed six runs (five earned) on 18 hits and 10 walks, while also striking out 16 batters over 21 1/3 innings.
He's made starts against the Padres, White Sox, Orioles and Pirates, so a mix of good and bad offenses. Allen allowed four runs against San Diego in his first start, but has allowed no or one run over his past three outings.
Allen has at least four strikeouts in three straight starts, but has also walked five over that span. He's gone at least five innings in three starts, but hasn't reached six innings yet.
He could start against the Red Sox next, and then maybe take on the Twins. As his own percentage suggests, Allen is a better keeper in deeper leagues, even after his pretty good start to the season. He'll need to cover more innings, or strike out more batters to be a keeper in standard leagues.
I am a fan of adding Allen in some deeper leagues, but also don't view him as a must-add waiver pitcher. He can be a standard league streaming option in favorable matchups, and should appear in daily streaming stories for the time being.
Should You Add Andrew Abbott?
Abbott is up to 40.52% rostered after a 7.34% boost today. He got a late start to his regular season, but has been great so far.
In two starts, Abbott is 2-0 with a 1.64 ERA across 11 innings. He's allowed two runs on four hits and three walks, while striking out 16 batters.
He made starts against the Pirates and Orioles so far. The clash against Pittsburgh was favorable, and he struck out five over five innings, allowing a run on two hits and two walks. In a tougher test against Baltimore, Abbott punched out 11 over six innings, giving up a run on two hits and one walk.
Abbott is a better fantasy asset than Allen, and I'd say he's the best fantasy option in this waiver article today. I think he should be rostered and kept in all deeper leagues, at least for now, while also being a good streaming option in standard leagues for most starts.
He's got probable starts against the Marlins and Cardinals coming up, which both set up pretty well for Abbott. He'll be a great streaming option against Miami, and should be utilized in most fantasy leagues. Another good start in that game should get him rostered in all deeper leagues, while making him an even better standard league streamer for that possible start against St. Louis.
Abbott might be a streaming option in some fantasy owner's eyes, but I think he's a player you can add and hold for a majority of the season.
Should You Add Jake Irvin?
Irvin is up 6.38% and is rostered in 33.97% of fantasy leagues now. He turned in a good start in Colorado over the weekend, and has been pretty solid this season.
In five starts, Irvin is 2-0 with a 3.68 ERA. He's allowed 12 runs on 24 hits and seven walks overs 29 1/3 innings. Irvin has punched out 27 batters.
He's made starts against the Rockies, Pirates, Dodgers, Diamondbacks and Phillies now this season. He's allowed two or four runs in four of his appearances, and shut out the Pirates. Irvin has at least six punchouts in three straight games, and has covered at least six innings in those games (and at least five frames in every start).
I think Irvin is a bit underrated as a fantasy pitcher right now. His numbers aren't overwhelming, but at the same time, he's covering some innings and not getting shelled in any starts. He's faced weaker-hitting teams in his last two starts, but also fared decently against good opponents in his first three outings.
He's got probable starts against the Mets and Phillies coming up. Those aren't great matchups for him, but given how he's pitching, he should be utilized in deeper leagues at least. Some standard league owners are going to trust him enough to start against both of those teams, and I think he's done enough in the early going to get some standard league streaming starts.
If Irvin delivers a good outing against the Mets, he'll become that much better of a fantasy asset, so keep close tabs on him.
Should You Add Quinn Priester?
Prister is a starting pitcher who will pitch on Monday. He's up 6% today, bringing his overall mark to 14.96%. Priester will face the Giants, and could make another start this week against the Cardinals.
Priester has made two starts for Milwaukee after being traded a couple weeks back. He's 1-0 with a 0.90 ERA across 10 innings. Priester has allowed a run on seven hits and five walks, while striking out eight batters.
His first start was in Colorado, where he struck out four batters over five frames. He allowed a run on six hits and two walks. Priester struck out four Tigers in a five-inning outing his last time out. He allowed three walks, but just one hit.
He's a bit limited as a fantasy asset if he's only going to be covering five innings a start, but now that he's settled in a bit in Milwaukee, it wouldn't be surprising to see him work a bit deeper into games.
The matchup against the Giants isn't that favorable, but he's also pitched well enough in his first two outings to get plenty of starts in deeper leagues. The clash against the Cardinals is better, so he's a better streaming threat in that one.
If Priester excels against San Fran on Monday, you can expect his own percentage to keep growing. He might even be a good standard league streaming option against the Cardinals if he shuts down the Giants.
Should You Add Logan Henderson?
We'll end with another Brewer pitcher. Henderson made his MLB debut on Sunday, shutting down the Athletics. He's up 5.15% and sits at 16.47% owned now.
Henderson worked six innings on Sunday, allowed a run on three hits and a walk, while striking out nine batters. The Athletics are a favorable matchup for a fantasy pitcher, but Henderson definitely turned heads with his performance.
He's the team's No. 12 prospect, and is graded out a bit below average overall. Henderson was a fourth-round draft pick in 2021, and is only 23 years old.
Henderson has made 47 starts in the minor leagues over parts of four seasons. He's got a 3.12 ERA over 187 2/3 innings, allowing just a .198 average against him and striking out a whopping 257 batters.
Henderson might have been a touch undervalued as a prospect, and the Brewers have shown a knack for developing pitchers. He could be the next in line to be a good starting option, and fantasy option too.
The thing working against him is that the Brewers' rotation is getting healthier, so it's possible he gets sent back to Triple-A even after his great first start. He'll be back up at some other point this season most likely (if he does get sent down soon), so he's still worth adding and stashing in some deeper fantasy leagues. He's most valuable in dynasty and keeper leagues, but they'd still have to be fairly large leagues in order to justify keeping the mid-range prospect.
If he sticks in the big leagues, his next start could be against the Cardinals near the end of the week. He'd be a good deep league streaming option in that one, and I wouldn't be opposed to using him in some standard leagues either.
