Yankees 5, Twins 0

Anthony Volpe hit a solo homer for New York in its win over Minnesota. Volpe also had a stolen base and finished with two hits and is now batting .273 for the season.

Aaron Judge and Gleyber Torres each posted two hits and scored once for New York, while Torres also drove in a run. ‘

Clarke Schmidt earned the win to improve to 5-1 on the season. He struck out eight over eight scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and no walks along the way. Schmidt’s ERA dropped to 2.49 for the season.

Joe Ryan took the loss and is now 2-3 for the season. He allowed four runs on six hits and a walk over 5 1/3 innings, while striking out five. Ryan has a 3.57 ERA.

Minnesota only had three hits in the contest, and no player got on more than once. 

Mets 6, Phillies 5 (12 inn.)

Pete Alonso hit a solo homer for New York. He also walked once and scored a second run.

Harrison Bader and Starling Marte each had two hits, with Marte scoring a run and Bader driving in a run. Marte also stole a base. J.D. Martinez got on base twice, drove in a run and scored once.

Jose Quintana started for the Mets, working 5 1/3 innings. He surrendered two runs on four hits, while striking out four and walking none.

Reed Garrett followed Quintana and was charged with his second blown save of the season. Edwin Diaz later blew his third save of the season. Jorge Lopez eventually got his first win, and Jake Diekman earned his first save.

Taijuan Walker allowed two runs on four hits and two walks over 3 1/3 innings for Philadelphia. He struck out one batter.

Jeff Hoffman was charged with his third blown save already, while Jose Alvarado took the loss after allowing two runs in the 12th inning.

Alec Bohm and J.T. Realmuto each had two hits for Philadelphia, with Bohm driving in one and Realmuto scoring once. 

Bryson Stott got on base twice, stole two bases, drove in two runs and scored once for the Phillies. Bryce Harper got on twice and scored once.

Rays 7, Red Sox 5

Josh Lowe hit a two-run home run for Tampa Bay. He also walked in the contest. 

Jonathan Aranda got on base three times and scored twice for the Rays. Isaac Paredes drove in a run on two hits. Richie Palacios drove in two runs without the benefit of a hit or walk. 

Randy Arozarena, Jose Caballero and Ben Rortvedt all got on base twice for Tampa Bay. Each player also scored once. 

Zack Littell started for Tampa Bay, allowing four runs on seven hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out three batters along the way and has a solid 3.44 ERA so far.

Kevin Kelly followed Littell and was charged with a blown save. Manuel Rodriguez got his first win out of the pen, while Erasmo Ramirez claimed his first save.

Cooper Criswell started for Boston, but lasted just 3 2/3 innings. He allowed five runs (three earned) on four hits and two walks, while striking out three.

Kenley Jansen eventually was tagged with his first loss after allowing two runs in the ninth inning.

Rafael Devers and Jarren Duran each had a solo homer for Boston. Duran finished with three hits and two runs scored, while Devers got on base three times and scored a second run. 

Garrett Cooper drove in a pair of runs on a hit for Boston. Rob Refsnyder got on base twice and scored once.

Pirates 5, Cubs 4

Edward Olivares hit a two-run homer for Pittsburgh, while Nick Gonzales added a solo shot. Olivares had two hits and runs scored total. Michael A. Taylor got on base twice and scored once.

Jared Jones improved to 3-4 after pitching six innings for the Pirates. He gave up three runs on seven hits, while striking out seven and walking none over six innings. His ERA is 2.89 for the season.

David Bednar worked a 1-2-3 ninth inning to claim his ninth save of the season.

Justin Steele took his first loss after allowing five runs on six hits and a walk over 5 2/3 innings. Steele struck out seven batters along the way, but has a 5.68 ERA through four starts this season.

Ian Happ hit a solo homer for Chicago. Michael Busch got on base twice and scored a run.

Astros 8, Athletics 1

Joey Loperfido hit his first career MLB home run for Houston, a two-run blast. He also walked once in the contest.

Jake Meyers had two hits, an RBI and a run scored for the Astros, while Alex Bregman stayed hot with two hits and a run scored. Kyle Tucker got on base three different times and went on to score two runs. Tucker has a .408 OBP this season.

Yainer Diaz doubled and drove in three runs for Houston. He also went on to score. Jon Singleton walked twice and scored a run, while Jose Altuve reached twice to bump his OBP to .376.

Cristian Javier got the win - his third of the season - after striking out eight batters over six scoreless innings. He allowed two hits and a walk and now has a 3.23 ERA this season.

Shawn Dubin pitched the final three innings to pick up a save for Houston.

Joey Estes started for Oakland. He was torched for eight runs on eight hits and four walks over 3 2/3 innings. Estes struck out four batters along the way.

Tyler Soderstrom got on base two times for Oakland, which had only four hits and one walk in the game.

Reds 7, Dodgers 2

Will Benson hit a solo homer and walked once for Cincinnati. Tyler Stephenson drove in two runs on two hits. Stephenson is hitting .255 this season and getting on base at a .336 clip.

Elly De La Cruz had four hits, a walk, an RBI, four stolen bases and three runs scored for the Reds. De La Cruz is hitting .277 and getting on base at a .378 clip. He’s got 30 stolen bases already, and leads the league by 13 in that stat.

Cincinnati had a bullpen day on the mound, using seven pitchers to get through the contest. Nick Martinez was ruled the winning pitcher after working five innings and striking out four.

Tyler Glasnow was charged with the loss, dropping his season record to 6-2. Glasnow allowed four runs on six hits and a walk, while striking out eight batters. His ERA is still a strong 2.90 so far.

Los Angeles only had four hits in the game, along with three walks. Gavin Lux drove in two runs on a hit, but no Dodger was able to reach base more than once.
