Looking at some players being added as the weekend slate of week 8 games near.

It's time to go over another batch of fantasy football waiver wire options, just ones who are trending up as the weekend hits.

We'll go over quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers and tight ends.

Fantasy football waiver options can be found daily on FantasySP!

Quarterbacks

Joe Flacco is the most-added waiver wire option right now. He's up 9.89% and sits at 57.77% overall.

He was a waiver option at the start of the week, and is getting even more love as the weekend hits. Flacco has a pretty favorable matchup coming against the Jets, so it makes sense to add him.

I like him enough to consider him in standard leagues during a week where six teams are on byes. He's played well enough since becoming a Bengal, and the matchup is good enough for him to deliver again.

Jaxson Dart and Michael Penix are the other quarterbacks on the waiver wire list here at FantasySP. Dart is up 2.36%, bringing his overall mark to 85.2%. Penix sits at 33.24% overall after a 1.87% increase.

Dart has the Eagles in week 8, who he delivered a nice fantasy outing against a couple weeks ago. Philly is an average matchup for him on paper, and after delivering a nice fantasy outing against a tough Denver defense, more fantasy owners should be willing to play Dart this week.

Penix has been so-so this season, and probably underwhelming more often than not. A fantastic matchup against the Dolphins has fantasy owners high on him this week though. He's working through an injury, but appears on track to play.

I had Dart as my top-ranked fantasy QB of these three waiver wire options. Flacco was just a few slots behind him, while Penix was a few spots below Flacco.

Running Backs

There's several running backs on the rise.

Kyle Monangai is up 6.07% and sits at 65.56% overall now. Woody Marks is rostered in 84.78% of leagues after a 4.35% increase.

Monangai had his best fantasy showing of his young career in week 7. In a week with several running backs on byes, or injured, it makes sense to consider the Bears' rookie.

A great matchup against the Ravens is a reason to add Monangai, especially in deeper leagues. He even made my top-30 PPR backs for week 8, so using him in a standard league isn't the craziest idea.

Marks looks like he's the top Houston back going forward, so I'm really surprised he's not rostered in all leagues already. Use that to your advantage and add him immediately - like stop reading and go pick him up if you need a running back.

I have him ranked 24th among RBs for week 8. San Francisco is a pretty average matchup for a fantasy back, so it's a fine matchup to try him in, especially with so many other backs injured or on byes.

Samaje Perine is up 2.86% and is rostered in 9.18% of leagues overall.

Perine has factored in a bit more over the past several weeks, but hasn't been a very good fantasy asset. He's topped 30 total yards in one game so far.

A bit below-average test against the Jets is Perine's matchup this week. He's only a starting option in really deep leagues, but he could be a sneaky good pickup for those desperate for help.

Devin Neal has been added in 2.16% of leagues, bringing his overall mark to 9.51%. Justice Hill is owned in 34.6% of leagues after a 1.9% increase today.

Neal should be RB2 in New Orleans after the season-ending injury to Kendre Miller. Taysom Hill would be the guy I'd want to pick up though.

Neal has a stellar matchup against the Buccaneers, so fantasy owners are hoping he emerges as the No. 2 back and can deliver right away in week 8. I'd only want to start him in deeper fantasy leagues. He's a player to keep an eye on this week though.

Hill is another sneaky good No. 2 back on a week where you need to get creative at running back. He's factored in more than expected this season, and been better than Derrick Henry at times.

A matchup against the Bears is very favorable, so adding and starting him in a flex spot in standard leagues isn't that crazy of an idea. I'd definitely do that in deeper leagues, so I think he's actually a bit underowned.

Wide Receivers

Tez Johnson is the most-added fantasy wideout, up 4.81% to 66.07% overall.

Johnson has been a big waiver name over the past couple weeks with the injuries the Buccaneers are dealing with. Mike Evans is out for a while, and Chris Godwin isn't likely to play again, so Johnson could be WR2 behind Emeka Egbuka, who is also battling an injury.

The Saints are a so-so matchup, and after a poor showing in week 7, I see the Bucs' offense bouncing back and marching up and down the field on the Saints. That makes Johnson a good fantasy option. I like him better in deeper leagues, but he's worth a standard league starting spot to some of you desperate for wideout help.

Troy Franklin has been added in 3.79% of leagues, bringing his overall mark to 55.16%.

Franklin has two double-digit fantasy outings this season, but both games included a touchdown grab. He's been steadily involved, but is coming off a game where he had 10 targets.

I don't see him getting 10 targets this week, but a favorable test against the Cowboys gives him streaming upside, especially in deeper leagues. I think you could do better in standard leagues, but in a pinch, he's not the worst option.

Kayshon Boutte, Josh Downs and Marvin Mims have been added in 1.81, 1.7 and 1.62% of leagues, respectively. Boutte is at 54.22% rostered, while Downs is at 60.49% and Mims at 36.78% overall.

Boutte has been great over the past two weeks, with three touchdowns over that span. He has just seven catches in that span, but going for 148 yards.

He has a tougher test against the Browns this week, but it's easier to start him because of the roll the Patriots are on. I like him best in deeper leagues, but wouldn't hate starting him in standard leagues in a pinch.

Downs missed last week with a concussion, so his status is still one to watch, although he's trending toward playing. He's been so-so this season.

A slightly above-average matchup against Tennessee awaits Downs if he can suit up. He had 34 yards on three catches and five targets the last time those teams met. Downs is another guy I like better in deeper leagues, but could see utilizing him in standard leagues this week between all the injuries and guys on bye weeks.

Mims is another Denver wideout on the rise. He was good in week 7, but that came in a game where the Broncos threw a ton to rally past a subpar Giants' defense.

That matchup against Dallas is appealing enough to consider Mims, Franklin and Courtland Sutton this week. I'd only want to start Mims in deeper leagues, but he also could lead the team and be deserving of a standard league spot, so he's a standard league option too.

While none of the waiver wire wideouts we just discussed made my top-30 PPR list for week 8, several were close.

Tight Ends

Cade Otton is the most-added tight end on the waiver wire, up 6.95% to 76.36% overall.

Otton has been stepping up over the past three weeks with the Bucs battling so many injuries. He's actually the guy I wanted to add the most after the news of Evans missing extended time hit.

New Orleans is a pretty average matchup for him, but I expect Otton to excel again and post another top-10 fantasy showing

Theo Johnson is up 3.22% and sits at 34.95% overall now.

Johnson was good in week 7, but struggled in his last game against Philly, tallying just 27 yards on two receptions and four targets.

Philly is a tough fantasy matchup for tight ends, so I'd only consider Johnson in deeper leagues, and really, I'd try to avoid him this week.

Noah Fant has been added in 2.38% of leagues, bringing his overall mark to 6.89%.

Fant was good in week 7, and could be the team's No. 3 pass catcher behind Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Fant had a decent fantasy outing in week 6, which was Flacco's first start for Cincy.

Fant has the Jets this week - New York is a pretty favorable test for tight ends, so I like the idea of adding and utilizing him in some deeper leagues. I think he'll surprise again this week.
