Fantasy Football Quarterback Rankings for Week 8: Jaxson Dart, Bo Nix, Baker Mayfield and More
Morgan gives his week 8 fantasy football rankings for quarterbacks.
Let's rank the starting quarterbacks from a fantasy football perspective for week 8!
We already looked at tight ends and wide receivers, and will cover running backs in a story to come.
Check out week 8 fantasy football projections for quarterbacks on FantasySP as well.
Mahomes is the top fantasy quarterback on a per-game basis now, so him getting the top spot shouldn't surprise you.
A very favorable test against the Commanders is another reason to have ranked first for week 8.
2. Josh Allen
Fresh off a bye week, we'll see if Allen can jump back into the upper echelon of fantasy QBs after a couple average-or-so weeks.
Carolina is a tougher test on paper, but I'm not worried about Allen, even after a couple down showings.
3. Jalen Hurts
Hurts has been a pretty steady fantasy asset all season, and I see him over 20 points against the Giants this coming week.
He had 283 passing yards, a touchdown and a pick against New York a couple weeks ago - he also rushed for a score in that one. Overall, the Giants are a great fantasy matchup for a QB, so I expect Hurts to deliver.
I expect Jackson back out there for week 8 against the Bears.
Chicago is an above-average matchup for a QB, so Jackson could star if he returns.
If he misses another week, Cooper Rush would likely make another start. He'd rank at the bottom of this week's rankings if he ends up playing.
5. Bo Nix
Nix put up stellar numbers last week in a historic comeback win.
A super favorable week 8 matchup against the Cowboys is a chance for him to deliver again, so get him in those lineups!
6. Daniel Jones
Jones just keeps delivering, and you have to believe in him at this point.
Tennessee is a tougher test on paper, but again, I'm going to simply trust Jones to keep putting up good fantasy totals.
Daniels is banged up coming into the week, so his status is another one to be watching.
If he plays, he'll be taking on the Chiefs, who are a very tough matchup. I'd still trust the dual-threat QB to get the job done.
If Marcus Mariota ends up starting, the only guy I'd rank him ahead of is Rush.
8. Drake Maye
Maye has been a very good fantasy asset so far this season, so I'll keep him in my top 10, even in a tougher matchup.
Cleveland is his matchup, and they have been the third-toughest on fantasy QBs so far. I expect Maye to still get the job done, similar to Jones.
Mayfield struggled to get rolling in week 7 against Detroit, but I have him bouncing back in week 8 against New Orleans.
That's a pretty nice fantasy matchup, so he and the offense could bounce back in a big way, and he could blow past this ranking.
10. Justin Herbert
Herbert has been in double figures easily in every game this season, and I see that continuing in week 8.
A test against the Vikings on Thursday night is a tougher one, but on a short week, I see him and the Chargers' offense finding enough success to make him a top-10 QB.
11. Jaxson Dart
Dart has given the Giants some life since he took over as the starter.
A test against the Eagles this week is pretty average on paper. He had nearly 25 fantasy points the last time these teams met, so I could be underranking him.
12. Dak Prescott
Prescott has been on fire over his past four games, scoring 20+ points in each contest.
He has a very tough matchup against the Broncos in week 8, but after Dart ripped them apart last week, I could see Prescott staying hot and delivering a big fantasy showing in this one.
13. Jordan Love
Love has been so-so as a fantasy asset more often than not this season, but I like his week 8 matchup.
A test against the Steelers is very favorable for Love, and he will be looking to put on a show against his former mentor.
14. Joe Flacco
I'm on the Flacco train! He has been awesome in his first two games with the Bengals, and I see him being a sneaky good option this week.
The Jets are a pretty favorable matchup on paper, so I expect Flacco to keep slinging it around and racking up plenty of fantasy points.
15. Caleb Williams
I'm down on Williams a bit after a rough showing in week 7.
He could definitely bounce back in week 8 against Baltimore, who are the second-easiest fantasy matchup for a quarterback so far. Williams will start for many standard league teams this week, but I'm seeing more average results coming.
16. C.J. Stroud
Stroud took a step back in week 7, but on a week with six quarterbacks out of play, he gets a pretty high ranking.
The Niners pose a pretty average test for him, although it is below average. We'll see if he can bounce back a bit.
17. Aaron Rodgers
Rodgers was overshadowed by Flacco in the week 7 Thursday game, but Rodgers performed very well.
The matchup against his former team (Green Bay) is a chance for him to keep trending up as a fantasy asset. We'll see if he has a vintage Rodgers' game against his old squad.
18. Michael Penix
Penix has a really great matchup coming against the Dolphins, but nursing an injury and coming off a down showing, I'm not very high on Penix.
Miami is a top-five fantasy matchup, so if he plays, Penix could surprise.
Kirk Cousins would rank here if he ended up making the start instead of Penix.
19. Tyrod Taylor
It looks like Taylor will be starting in week 8, but Justin Fields would rank close to here too.
The Bengals will be a pretty favorable matchup for whatever QB makes the start. Don't be afraid to run Taylor out there, especially in deeper leagues.
20. Mac Jones or Brock Purdy
I think Jones will be making another start in week 8. Usually, I'm a fan of whatever San Fran QB is starting, but a brutal test against the Texans has me down on them for week 8.
Houston has been the toughest fantasy matchup for QBs so far, and it's really not all that close either.
21. Carson Wentz
Wentz will start instead of J.J. McCarthy again on Thursday against the Chargers.
He's been so-so lately, and in a slightly below-average matchup, I'm not very high on the Vikings' starter.
22. Tua Tagovailoa
Tagovailoa has been terrible over the past two weeks, and now he has a tougher matchup coming, so I'm way down on him.
Atlanta is the second-hardest fantasy test for a QB, so Tagovailoa might not even finish this high.
23. Spencer Rattler
Rattler has been in double figures every week this season, but only above average on one occasion.
A slightly above-average test against the Buccaneers is a chance for him to score a few more points, but I don't know how you trust him outside deeper fantasy setups.
24. Cameron Ward
Ward hasn't found his footing yet, and has scored in double figures just three times, while being below average every week.
The Colts are an average matchup for him, so maybe he can finally deliver an average result.
25. Dillon Gabriel
Gabriel was solid in his first start, but has been way below average the past two weeks.
New England is a slightly below-average matchup now, so I'm not very excited about him in week 8.
26. Andy Dalton
I see Dalton starting for Bryce Young this week, but you could argue Young in this ranking as well.
Buffalo is a tough matchup, and they will be ready to go after the bye week, so I see Dalton or Young really struggling in week 8.
