Backup Role and Off-Field Comments Cloud Fantasy Value in Atlanta

Tua Tagovailoa enters his first season with the Falcons facing an uphill battle for playing time. Despite head coach Kevin Stefanski praising his accuracy during offseason workouts, our projections and the depth chart position him as the backup behind Michael Penix Jr. This restricted role severely caps his fantasy appeal, making him a bench stash rather than a weekly option.

In draft lobbies, Tua's market value has been highly volatile. After briefly climbing to an ADP around 169 in early June, his cost has plummeted back down to 220.00. Fantasy managers are clearly backing away, recognizing that without a starting role, he cannot be relied upon. At this price, he is a low-cost, high-risk flyer in superflex formats.

Historically, Tua is capable of high-end production, highlighted by his 4,624-yard season with Miami in 2023. However, with our projections mapping out just 2,190 passing yards and 13 touchdowns, he is entirely dependent on an injury to Penix to regain fantasy relevance.
