Fantasy Football Running Back Rankings for Week 8: Chase Brown, Quinshon Judkins, Rico Dowdle and More
Morgan gives his week 8 fantasy football rankings for running backs.
Last but not least, let's put together top-30 PPR running back rankings for week 8.
We covered quarterbacks, wide receivers and tight ends in other articles.
Check out week 8 fantasy football projections for running backs on FantasySP as well.
Taylor gets the No. 1 fantasy RB spot for week 8. He's the No. 2 fantasy back on a per-week basis.
A very favorable matchup against the Titans is why he gets the top spot this week. He had over 30 fantasy points in the first game against Tennessee.
McCaffrey is the top fantasy back so far this season, and he gets the second slot going into a matchup against the Texans.
It's a slightly below-average matchup, which is why I passed on him as RB1.
Robinson had a case to be RB1 as well, but I don't trust the Falcons' offense as much, so he slides to No. 3.
The clash against the Dolphins is right up there with the favorable test against the Titans, so Robinson should shine in week 8.
In the other half of that game's RB battle is Achane.
He gets the No. 4 slot in his pretty average test against the Falcons. Achane can deliver against anyone, even if his offense is terrible, so I'd trust him at No. 4.
5. Josh Jacobs
Jacobs has been in double figures in every game, and has multiple scores in three straight contests.
A tougher test against the Steelers looms, which is why I don't have him ranked any higher. I still expect him to get the job done.
6. James Cook
Fresh off a bye week, I expect Cook and the Bills' offense as a whole to get back on track.
He has a below-average test coming against the Panthers, but I believe he'll bounce back and deliver a top-10 fantasy showing.
7. Rachaad White or Bucky Irving
I'm not really sure if Irving will be back for week 8, but he'd rank here if he plays. White would take his place if Irving is inactive. If Irving is out there, White would drop back into the late teens.
Whoever plays will have an above-average test coming against the Saints, so there's a chance for a top-10 finish, and both backs to deliver too.
8. Breece Hall
Hall has struggled the past two weeks, just like the Jets' offense has as a whole.
A favorable test against the Bengals is why I have him ranked so high this week. Cincy is the most favorable fantasy test for backs, so get Hall in those lineups!
Barkley continues to underwhelm, but most fantasy owners are still waiting for him to deliver every week.
The Giants are a pretty average test for Barkley. He finished with 67 total yards on 14 touches in the team's last meeting, but I'm expecting a bit more this time around.
10. Alvin Kamara
Kamara could get his lead RB role back with Kendre Miller now out for the season.
A very favorable matchup against the Buccaneers is why I have Kamara ranked so highly this week though. If he doesn't deliver, it'll be hard to start him in many many matchups going forward.
11. Derrick Henry
Henry was pretty good in his last game, and he'd get a bigger boost if Lamar Jackson returned.
A pretty favorable test against the Bears is a chance for Henry to keep trending up. He should be starting in all fantasy leagues this coming week.
12. Javonte Williams
Williams has been one of the bigger fantasy surprises this season. He's been in double figures in all but one week.
He has a tougher matchup against his former team (Denver), but I'm not betting against Williams or this Cowboys' offense right now.
13. Cam Skattebo
Skattebo has nearly 50 fantasy points over the past two weeks, and has been in double figures in every game since week 1.
His week 8 clash against the Eagles is pretty favorable. Skattebo had 110 total yards and three scores across 21 touches the last time the teams met, so I'd be happy to start him again this week.
14. D'Andre Swift
Swift has been stellar over the past two weeks, and now has a pretty good matchup coming.
In fact, facing the Ravens is the second-best fantasy matchup a back could have so far. We'll see if he can keep things rolling.
14. J.K. Dobbins
Dobbins has seen his fantasy output drop the past couple weeks, but I'm not giving up on him yet, as his usage is still good.
A favorable matchup against the Cowboys is another reason to keep him in those starting lineups for another week.
15. Jaylen Warren
Warren is coming off a huge fantasy performance, and had some extra time off after playing last Thursday.
The only thing I don't like is his tough matchup against the Packers. Maybe he can do enough as a pass catcher to be at least an average PPR back though.
16. Quinshon Judkins
Judkins scored three times last week and posted a monster fantasy score.
His matchup against the Patriots is a tougher one this week, so I'm a bit down on Judkins. I still think he'll deliver for his fantasy owners though.
17. Jordan Mason
Mason has been solid since taking over for Aaron Jones Sr., but the latter could play this week, so Mason takes a slight hit.
A favorable matchup against the Chargers on Thursday could mean Mason outperforms this ranking, but this is where I'd put him if Jones plays. If Jones is out again, you could slide him past Judkins, Warren and Dobbins in my rankings.
18. Rico Dowdle
Dowdle was the best fantasy back in Carolina last week, but splitting the workload is not a great thing for his outlook.
Buffalo has struggled to slow fantasy backs, so I see both Carolina backs being decent fantasy assets.
Stevenson continues to lead the Patriots' backfield, and he makes the top 20 for me this week.
A brutal matchup against the Browns actually held him back from being a top-15 option. On volume alone, Stevenson could get to a decent fantasy total still.
20. Chase Brown
Brown has trended up over the past couple weeks, even though he's losing some work to Samaje Perine.
I think Brown posts a solid fantasy score in a slightly below-average test against the Jets in week 8.
21. Isiah Pacheco
Is Pacheco back as the lead back in KC? I think he is.
I like him delivering again in week 8 in an average matchup against the Commanders.
22. Kimani Vidal
Vidal could be the workhorse back for LA with Hassan Haskins trending toward not playing - I'd rank Vidal here regardless.
The Vikings are a slightly below-average matchup, but I think on volume alone, Vidal will put up a decent fantasy score.
23. Chuba Hubbard
Hubbard got enough touches last week to consider again this week.
In a favorable matchup, he and Dowdle should be able to score a fair amount of fantasy points, even if they split the workload again.
24. Woody Marks
Marks led the Houston backfield again last week, so he gets the top-30 spot this week.
San Francisco is a slightly above-average test for him, so we'll see if he can deliver average-or-better marks.
Croskey-Merritt has been in single digits two straight weeks. I see him bouncing back in week 8.
The Chiefs will be a stiff test, which is why he doesn't rank any higher.
26. Tyjae Spears
Spears looks like the top back for Tennessee, which still isn't an appealing thing.
In a tougher test against Indy, I don't love Spears, but with six teams on byes, I'm gambling on him leading the backfield and scoring several points.
27. Tyler Allgeier
Allgeier is the clear No. 2 to Robinson, but in a good matchup, I think the backup could surprise.
If you are without several backs for week 8, there's crazier ideas than trying Allgeier.
28. Kyle Monangai
Monangai is trending up, and coming off a career game.
In a great matchup, I could see him doing enough on his touches to post a top-30 score.
29. Justice Hill
Hill is in a similar boat, clearly behind Henry, but in a great matchup.
Especially in a PPR format, and if Jackson is back, Hill could be a worthwhile flex play this week.
30. Tyrone Tracy
Tracy quietly had a good showing in week 7, and I think he could do something similar in week 8.
The Eagles' have struggled to stop backs, so I have him and Skattebo as top-30 backs in week 8.
