We're into the MLB regular season enough where recent trends can trump season-long numbers for some players.

In this article, let's look at some of the top MLB hitters over the past seven days. This could help you identify waiver wire options or trade targets in your fantasy baseball leagues.

Explore the best in-season tool to manage lineup/start decisions including waiver pickups, projections, trade suggestions, trade value charts, rest of season rankings, power rankings, and tons more with Fantasy Assistant. Use our fantasy baseball trade analyzer and trade value charts to break down trade scenarios and weekly projections to find the best fantasy options.

Brendan Donovan Surging at Plate

St. Louis' Donovan has a whopping 12 hits over the past seven days, and that covers just five games and 18 at-bats.

Donovan has three doubles and a home run among those hits, along with seven RBIs, two walks and no strikeouts. One of the few blemishes in that stretch is that he was caught stealing once.

He was rostered in around 80% of fantasy leagues when the regular season opened, and is now up to 91% rostered. He's gone up about 6% in just the past three days, which obviously coincides with his hot streak at the plate.

I thought Donovan was undervalued coming into the 2025 season after delivering a .278 average and .342 on-base percentage in 2024. He doesn't hit for much power, but the good average and OBP, mixed with good run production made Donovan a pretty solid all-around fantasy hitter.

I think he deserves to be rostered in all fantasy leagues at this point. I can understand if you want to drop him once his average and OBP dip, but I'd ride this hot streak as long as I could.

Tyler Soderstrom Continues to Rake

Soderstrom has been one of the league's best hitters in the early going.

He's got a .378 average and .440 OBP over 12 games and 50 plate appearances. Soderstrom has nine of his 17 hits over the past seven games, which covers five games and 18 at-bats.

Soderstrom has a double and three homers among his most recent nine hits. He's also got six RBIs, four walks, seven runs scored and just two strikeouts in that span.

He was owned in less than 20% of fantasy leagues at the start of the regular season, but is way up to 88% owned now. That number might be even higher if he hadn't left Tuesday's game with a calf injury.

It doesn't look to be a long-term injury, but he might miss a game or two as a result. Him sitting a couple days could bring his own percentage down a bit, and I'd jump at the opportunity and add Soderstrom.

He might not remain a daily fantasy starter in all leagues for the full season, but I'm all for utilizing Soderstrom while he's hot at the plate. Until he cools off, I'd want to be playing Soderstrom.

Luis Arraez Keeps Delivering

San Diego's Arraez is one of the more underappreciated MLB hitters in today's game.

He's constantly among league leaders in batting average, but because he doesn't hit for a lot of pop, he's rarely mentioned when discussing the league's best hitters.

He has 11 hits over his past 21 at-bats. Arraez also has a walk, two doubles, an RBI and a stolen base in that stretch. He has not struck out in any of those five games.

Arraez is owned in just about every fantasy league, so he's more a trade target than a waiver option. Anyways, I wanted to talk about him because he's pretty affordable and can be a big boost to your fantasy team.

He's not going to hurt your team with a bunch of strikeouts, and even if he's only delivering singles, he's going to add value to your fantasy team when you play him. See what Arraez might cost in a trade and see if you can add the .300-plus hitter to your roster.

Sal Frelick Posting Good Numbers

Frelick is a lot like Arraez in that his fantasy numbers come without much power. Frelick doesn't have the long track record Arraez does though, so Frelick is available in about 75% of leagues.

Frelick has a .375 average and .457 OBP for the season. Over the past seven days, Frelick has played in five games, collecting a double and triple among nine total hits. He also has three RBIs, a walk, two stolen bases, four runs scored, got caught stealing and did not strikeout.

He's hitting fifth in the Brewers' lineup, and starting against righties or lefties. That gives Frelick the chance to drive in a bunch of runs, even if they come on singles and doubles instead of home runs.

At least for the time being, Frelick is a good deep-league fantasy asset. His numbers are going to regress over time, but if he can avoid striking out, he's not going to hurt your fantasy team much.

It'd take another week or more of strong hitting to probably get Frelick on the radar of standard league fantasy owners.

Paul Goldschmidt Excelling in New York

Many thought Goldschmidt's career could be jumpstarted a bit by moving to the Yankees, and that looks to be happening early in the season.

In 11 games and 46 plate appearances so far, Goldy has a .381 average and .435 OBP. He has 11 hits over the past seven days, which covers six games. Goldschmidt has a double among the hits, along with an RBI, two walks and strikeouts and two runs scored as well.

Goldschmidt is hitting cleanup against right-handed starters and first against lefties, which both are favorable spots for fantasy production. Really, he just needs to deliver at the plate, and he's doing that of late.

He's more of a trade asset than a waiver option, as he's only available in about 10% of fantasy leagues. I'd pick him up and utilize him in standard leagues for as long as he's in this hot streak.

I'd definitely look into trading for Goldschmidt in a deeper league, but could also justify the move if you're weak at first base in a standard league. He's going to play almost everyday, and although he's past his prime, he's showing he's still capable of being a daily fantasy starter.

Jacob Wilson Garnering Attention

Wilson is another Athletic hitter performing well in the early going.

He's got a .400 average and OBP this season across 12 games and 45 plate appearances. Wilson has nine hits, including two doubles and one home run, over his past five games and 21 at-bats. He also has five RBIs and runs scored and just two strikeouts in that span.

Wilson not having any walks is a bit concerning, but his low strikeout numbers are keeping him in a good place from a fantasy perspective. He usually hits between fifth-seventh in the lineup.

He's a good dynasty/keeper fantasy asset and now should be rostered in most deeper leagues. Wilson is getting close to being a standard league asset, and could be for some fantasy owners lacking at shortstop.

He's a player to keep really close tabs on, as his own percentage will continue to rise if he keeps delivering.

Cedric Mullins Still Producing

Mullins is off to a really hot start in 2025, and I wanted to end this story talking about him.

In 11 games and 47 plate appearances, the veteran outfielder has a .308 average and .426 OBP. That's not sustainable for a whole season, and struggles over the past two seasons mixed with career marks of .253 (average) and .322 (OBP) show he could be in store for some drastic regression coming up.

Over his past five games and 16 plate appearances, Mullins has two doubles and a homer among his five total hits. He also has five walks, a stolen base, four RBIs, five runs scored and three punchouts over that span.

He's starting against right-handed starters, but was benched when the Orioles last faced a lefty. That limits Mullins' fantasy value, but it's hard to deny what he's done at the plate so far.

He went from around 65% rostered at the beginning of the regular season to over 90% owned now. That makes him a trade target more than a waiver option, and I'd be more inclined to want to trade Mullins away than add him to my fantasy team.

History shows he won't perform this well over the course of a full season, and if he isn't going to start against lefties, he's really going to be a deep-league fantasy option only when he's not red hot at the plate.

I'd throw Mullins' name on the trade block to see what offers pop up. He's going to have more value the deeper a league is, but probably could net you a return in a standard league too.
