Weekly Fantasy Baseball Projections: 8 Waiver Wire and Streaming Options

As promised, we're back to discuss weekly fantasy baseball projections and some more waiver wire/streaming options!

Hitters

Mickey Gasper - Boston Red Sox

Gasper has seven games that he could play in this week. He's rostered in 13.02% of fantasy leagues right now.

Gasper rejoined the big league team in mid-August, and he's fared pretty well in the 11 games and over 37 plate appearances since. He has a .423 average and .595 on-base percentage.

Gasper has five home runs and three doubles among his 11 total hits. He also has tallied 12 RBIs, six runs scored, nine walks and just one strikeout.

He's getting regular starts as the team's designated hitter, and also has appeared at catcher and first base too. Gasper has excelled in his time on the field, and it makes him worth rostering and utilizing in more fantasy leagues as a result. He's a better deep-league asset, but worth keeping tabs on for possible standard league utilization if he keeps producing.

Steven Kwan - Cleveland Guardians

Kwan is owned in 76.88% of leagues as he gets ready for a seven-game week.

He's had several multi-hit games of late, and is now up to a .275 average and .377 OBP on the season. He has 17 doubles and just two homers, plus two triples, among his 123 total hits. Kwan has 27 RBIs, 68 runs scored, 71 walks, nine stolen bases and 53 strikeouts.

He's a contact hitter, but the lack of power holds him back quite a bit. Kwan doesn't strike out a ton either, so he's still a pretty good fantasy asset.

Being an outfielder, he's not owned in as many leagues as he probably should be. Kwan needs to be rostered/utilized in all deeper leagues, while also being worth more standard league utilization while his bat is hot.

Vinnie Pasquantino - Kansas City Royals

Pasquantino has six games lined up this week - he's rostered in 68.82% of leagues.

He has a three-game hitting streak going, and has produced pretty well of late overall. Pasquantino has underwhelmed overall this season though, and sits with just a .246 average and .335 OBP.

Pasquantino has 41 RBIs and runs scored, 44 walks, five stolen bases and 62 strikeouts. He's got 15 doubles, nine homers and two triples among his 83 total knocks.

The first baseman is worth some deep-league adds/utilization, and he's snuck back into some standard leagues of late. If you need help at first base, Pasquantino is definitely worth some consideration.

Isaac Paredes - Houston Astros

Paredes has seven games scheduled for this week. He's rostered in 72.58% of leagues.

He's struggled a bit of late at the plate, but has reached base in seven straight contests. Despite a .182 average in that span, a .406 OBP makes him a solid fantasy option still.

Paredes has a .256 average and .356 OBP over 130 games and 553 plate appearances this season. He has 23 doubles, 17 homers and a triple among his 121 total knocks. Paredes has 73 RBIs, 53 runs scored, 59 walks and 73 strikeouts.

The primary third baseman has also played some first and second base, so if he's eligible there too, that ups his fantasy value some more. Paredes is a better deep-league asset, but when right at the plate, he could be worth some standard league usage too.

Pitchers

Aaron Nola - Philadelphia Phillies

Nola has two starts scheduled for the coming week. He's rostered in 78.49% of leagues at the moment.

He has outings against the Diamondbacks and Braves lined up. Those aren't the best streaming targets, but Nola has pitched pretty well of late to be a good option for the coming week.

He has allowed two or fewer runs in four straight starts. Nola has worked at least five innings in those outings, and has at least seven punchouts in each appearance.

Nola is trending up, so he's usable in all matchups. I think he should be starting in all deeper leagues, plus most standard leagues this week. Roster him until his numbers fade.

Trevor Rogers - Baltimore Orioles 

Rogers has two starts lined up as well. He's owned in 77.6% of leagues at the moment.

Rogers has matchups against the Rockies and Red Sox. The game is in Colorado, so that isn't as good of a matchup as it could be. Boston isn't a great streaming target either.

He was roughed up in his last start, but had pitched well before that. Rogers is 9-9 with a 4.38 ERA over 137 2/3 innings this season - he has 121 strikeouts as well.

Rogers is a standard league streaming option at this point, and is worth trying in most leagues against Colorado. Be wary of where that game is being played, and trying him in standard leagues against the Red Sox.

Brandon Pfaadt - Arizona Diamondbacks

Pfaadt has two starts lined up as well - he's rostered in 61.83% of leagues.

Pfaadt has starts lined up against the Phillies and Astros. Philly is a tougher matchup, while Houston is a so-so challenge for Pfaadt.

Pfaadt has struggled over his past two outings, allowing nine runs over 12 1/3 innings. He pitched really well before that, so we'll see if he can bounce back this week.

I like him in deeper leagues for both of his starts this week, but would only feel really confident with him in standard leagues against the Astros.

Grant Holmes - Atlanta Braves

Holmes is owned in 42.47% of leagues as he readies for a two-start week.

He has starts lined up against the Nationals and Phillies this coming week. Washington is a pretty solid streaming target, while Philly is a tougher test.

Holmes has pitched pretty well of late, with just one bad outing over the past several starts he's made. He's lacking in the strikeout department, so that holds his outlook back some.

Holmes is worth trying in deeper leagues against both teams, and I'd only want to try him in standard leagues against the Nationals.
