Dustin May - St. Louis Cardinals
May has been added in 7.09% of fantasy baseball leagues today, which brings his overall mark to 51.03%.
He will be taking the mound against the Padres on Monday evening. That's been a surprisingly good matchup so far this season, and May has pitched fairly well, especially of late.
May has allowed three or fewer runs in three straight starts, and worked at least 5 2/3 innings in each of those outings. He has made 13 starts, and has a 4-6 record and 4.21 earned run average. May has allowed 37 runs (34 earned) on 71 hits and 20 walks over 72 2/3 innings, while striking out 66 batters.
Between the matchup and his pitching of late, May is a pretty good streaming option for the day. I'd trust him most in deeper leagues, but also would consider him in some standard leagues.
Elvis Alvarado - Athletics
Alvarado is up 7.56% and now sits at 13.1% overall.
He has saves in back-to-back outings, so he's on the rise. Alvarado has pitched in 14 games overall, and has a 2-0 record, the two saves and four holds - so nothing negative.
Over 15 innings this season, he's allowed nine runs on 12 hits and seven walks. Four of those runs came in one outing, and the other five runs he allowed across his first four appearances of the season. Alvarado has 20 strikeouts to his name.
He's a rising fantasy asset, and is worth scooping up in some deeper leagues today. The Athletics are winning enough to support a go-to closer, so if Alvarado sticks in the closer role, he could be a legit fantasy asset in all leagues over the course of the season.
Walbert Urena - Los Angeles Angels
Urena is rostered in 52.76% of leagues after being scooped up in 5.17% of leagues.
He gets the nod for a start against the Diamondbacks tonight. I don't love that matchup for Urena, but he's pitched well enough to consider still.
Urena has appeared in 12 games, starring in every appearance since mid-April. He is 4-4 with one hold, and he has a stellar 2.44 ERA over 55 1/3 innings. Urena has allowed 21 runs (15 earned) on 42 knocks and 33 walks, while striking out 55 batters.
Urena is a good deep-league asset right now, but in a bit tougher test, I would do my best to avoid him in standard leagues today. He could surprise and post an above-average score, but he's just a bit more trustworthy in deeper leagues.
Jacob Latz - Texas Rangers
Latz is up to 65% rostered at this time. He was around 45% near the end of May.
He continues to shine for the Rangers. Latz is 2-1 with 11 saves, two blown saves and two holds on the season.
Across 26 appearances, he's allowed six runs on 13 hits and seven walks. In 33 1/3 innings, he's struck out 35 batters.
Latz has a save or win in 13 of his past 15 appearances, and that makes him a good fantasy asset. The Rangers are winning enough close games to set up chances for Latz to score some fantasy points. He's a very good deep-league fantasy asset, and I also like him for standard leagues, especially if you are struggling for fantasy relievers - consider Latz at least.
Eric Lauer - Los Angeles Dodgers
Lauer is sitting at 14.14% owned after a 4.48% increase so far today.
He will make a start against the Rays on Monday evening. It's not a good matchup on paper, but on a stacked team, Lauer is a decent streaming option.
Lauer has improved since joining the Dodgers (shocker there), allowing three or fewer runs in all three of his starts. He's pitched between 4 2/3-6 innings in those outings, and only has 10 strikeouts in that timeframe.
He actually pitched against the Rays this season, but while Lauer was on the Blue Jays. He took a loss after allowing three runs on five hits and a walk over just 4 1/3 innings - Lauer struck out two batters in that outing.
I get the appeal with Lauer, but between a poor matchup and so-so results with LA so far, I'd only trust Lauer in some deeper fantasy leagues today. Look elsewhere for fantasy help in standard leagues, and don't be expecting anything too great out of Lauer tonight.
