Top Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Adds Using Weekly Projections

It's time for our third fantasy baseball waiver wire article of the day!

We have looked at pitchers and hitters so far, and are now going to use weekly projections to highlight more hitters and pitchers worth possibly adding this week.

Hitters

Travis Bazzana - Cleveland Guardians

Bazzana has six games on the schedule this week and is rostered in 58% of fantasy baseball leagues at the moment.

He has played in 11 games and logged 48 plate appearances since getting called up to the big leagues. Bazzana has a .194 average only, but has a strong .396 on-base percentage.

He has seven hits, including a home run, plus seven stolen bases and runs scored, four RBIs, 10 walks and just six punchouts. Bazzana might not be racking up the hits, but he's getting on base a ton, and he's a rising fantasy asset as a result.

I like adding him in deeper leagues, and think he could be worth standard league adds to some, especially those needing help at second base. Give Bazzana some consideration.

JJ Bleday - Cincinnati Reds

Bleday is sitting at just 28% rostered, but is projected for a big week. He has six games lined up as well.

Bleday has cooled a bit of late, but has very good results over his first 13 games and 51 plate appearances this season. He has 11 hits, including four homers, a triple and two doubles. Bleday also has nine RBIs, seven runs scored, a stolen base, nine walks and seven strikeouts.

His .262 average and .392 OBP are both solid marks, and while they won't stick, Bleday is someone to try for the time being, at least until his bat cools off a bit.

Bleday is just a deep-league asset, and I'm not sure if he'll ever be worth adding in standard leagues. Keep tabs on him, at the very least.

Ryan Jeffers - Minnesota Twins

Jeffers could play in up to six games as well. He's owned in 66% of leagues.

Across 31 games and 125 plate appearances, Jeffers has a .298 average and .403 OBP. He has 31 total knocks, including six doubles, five home runs and a triple. Jeffers has 23 RBIs, 21 runs scored, a stolen base, 18 walks and 22 strikeouts.

The catcher has appeared 27 times at that position, while getting three designated hitter appearances. Jeffers is playing enough, and delivering plenty for good fantasy ownership and usage.

Jeffers is a better deep-league asset in the long run, but right now, he could be worth utilizing in some standard leagues. It all depends on your fantasy catcher situation.

Josh Jung - Texas Rangers

Jung is owned in 75% of leagues. He too has six games this coming week.

Back-to-back three-hit games has Jung's average up to .331 on the season. He also has a .382 OBP over 37 games and 152 plate appearances.

Jung has 46 total hits, including 12 doubles and five home runs. He has 20 RBIs, 17 runs scored, a stolen base, 10 walks and 23 strikeouts.

Jung is a really good fantasy asset right now, and he's worth adding and utilizing in more standard leagues. He will regress in time, but you might as well enjoy his fantasy value while he's red hot at the plate.

Casey Schmitt - San Francisco Giants

Schmitt could play in seven games this week. He is rostered in 58% of leagues.

In 33 games and 133 plate appearances this season, Schmitt has a .285 average and .331 OBP. He has 18 RBIs, 14 runs scored, five walks, two stolen bases and 27 strikeouts.

Schmitt has 35 total hits, including eight doubles, six homers and a triple. He is a versatile defender and should be eligible at several spots, which increases his fantasy value.

Schmitt is another hot hitter to utilize right now, even if his stats aren't sustainable in the long run. Try him in all deep leagues, and consider him for a short time in standard leagues until his bat cools off.

Pitchers

Trevor McDonald - San Francisco Giants

McDonald is rostered in just 10% of leagues. He's lined up for two starts, one against the mighty Dodgers and another against the Athletics.

McDonald made his season debut earlier this month and delivered a great outing against the Padres. He worked seven innings, earning the win after allowing a run on two hits and no walks. McDonald struck out eight in that game.

That great start makes him a deep-league streaming option against the Dodgers, who aren't one to test. McDonald has a much better outlook against the Athletics, if he ends up making that start.

The start against the Athletics is the one to really utilize McDonald for, especially if he looks OK against the Dodgers.

Ryan Weathers - New York Yankees

Weathers has starts lined up against the Orioles and Mets this week. He is rostered in 72% of fantasy leagues.

In seven starts so far, Weathers is 2-2 with a 3.03 earned run average over 38 2/3 innings. He's given up 15 runs (13 earned) on 36 hits and 10 walks, while striking out 45 batters. 

Weathers is a good deep-league asset right now, and in two solid matchups, he should be starting in all deeper leagues. He's also a standard league streaming option for both of his starts.

Adjust your outlook on Weathers for that Mets' start if he struggles against the Orioles.

Peter Lambert - Houston Astros

Lambert is set to face the Mariners and Rangers this coming week. He is owned in 26% of leagues.

Lambert has been a sneaky-good fantasy asset over his four starts so far this season. He's 2-2, but with a 2.42 ERA over 22 1/3 innings. Lambert has allowed six runs on 15 hits and 11 walks, while striking out 23 batters.

Lambert has two solid matchups this week, and he's a deep-league streaming option for both contests, at the least. Again though, you might need to adjust his outlook for the second start if he looks bad in his first start of the week.

Lambert is a standard league option for each start, but only in pinches. He could work into more standard leagues for the start against Texas if he looks good against Seattle first.

Kyle Harrison - Milwaukee Brewers

Harrison has starts lined up against the Padres and Twins this week. He's rostered in 73% of leagues.

He is 3-1 with a 2.41 ERA over 33 2/3 innings across seven starts so far. Harrison has allowed nine runs on 28 hits and 13 walks, while striking out 41 batters.

Harrison only pitched four innings in his last outing, and he threw 77 pitches only. That's something to be cautious of, and watching as the season progresses - the Brewers could be looking to limit his pitch counts here and there, which could lower his fantasy ceiling.

I like his matchups this week, but definitely like the Minnesota start more. He's a deep-league starting option for both games, and will be a great standard league option if he indeed faces the Twins later in the week.
