Monday’s Best Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pitcher Pickups

It's the start of a new work week, and we have a bunch of fantasy baseball articles to get to this morning. Let's start with a waiver wire/streaming article for pitchers.

Peter Lambert - Houston Astros

Lambert has been added in 7.77% of fantasy baseball leagues already on Monday. He sits at 26.71% overall.

Lambert will be facing the Mariners on Monday night. That's an OK matchup on paper, despite Seattle having some big names in its lineup.

Lambert has made four starts this season, and he's 2-2 in those outings so far. He's allowed just six runs for a 2.43 earned run average over 22 1/3 innings, while giving up 15 hits and 11 walks along the way. Lambert has 23 strikeouts to his name.

Lambert has pitched well enough to stream in some leagues, and this matchup is good enough to try him in even more leagues. I like him best in deeper leagues tonight, but you could at least consider Lambert for standard leagues.

Ryan Weathers - New York Yankees

Weathers sits at 66% owned as he prepares for a start on Monday.

Weathers will face off against the Orioles on Monday evening. That's another solid matchup, but Baltimore has some big names and is capable of going off any game.

Across seven starts so far, Weathers is 2-2 with a 3.03 ERA over 38 2/3 innings. He's allowed 15 runs (13 earned) on 34 hits and 10 walks, while striking out 45 batters.

Weathers has pitched well, and that's why he's owned in as many leagues as he is right now. The matchup is good enough to utilize Weathers in all deeper leagues tonight. He's also a standard league streaming option, but he's not a must-start streamer in those leagues.

Joey Cantillo - Cleveland Guardians

Cantillo is up 2.49% so far today, and he sits at 47.52% overall.

He will get a matchup against the Angels on Monday evening. That's the best matchup of anyone we've covered so far, and it's one of the better matchups out there.

In his eight starts, Cantillo is 2-1 with a 3.43 ERA over 39 1/3 innings. He's allowed 19 runs (15 earned) on 35 knocks and 19 walks. Cantillo has struck out 37 batters so far.

Cantillo has been pretty good this season, and the matchup is right to try him in. I like utilizing Cantillo in all deeper leagues tonight, and I think he's worth trying in a lot of standard leagues as well. 

Michael Soroka - Arizona Diamondbacks

Soroka has been picked up in 2.17% of leagues, which brings his overall mark to 66.77%.

He will start against the Rangers on Monday evening. That's a pretty good matchup on paper.

Soroka is 4-2 over his seven starts, but he sits with a 4.14 ERA. He's given up 17 runs on 42 hits and 11 walks, while striking out 42 batters. Eight of those runs came in one outing, so he's been pretty solid otherwise.

Soroka is worth trying in all deeper leagues today, and he can be a standard league streaming option as well. He's not a must-start guy after that blowup outing, which came two starts ago, but Soroka could deliver average-or-better marks tonight.

Trevor McDonald - San Francisco Giants

McDonald has been added in 7.45% of leagues and he sits at 10.87% overall.

McDonald made his fifth MLB appearance of his career on May 4. It was his first outing with the big league team in 2026. 

In that start against the Padres, McDonald allowed a run on two hits and no walks over seven innings. He struck out eight along the way.

Those are great marks, but his matchup on Monday will come against the Dodgers, who are not a team to test. I don't mind trying McDonald in some very deep leagues, but I'd be cautious in most other deeper leagues, and I'd look elsewhere in standard leagues for sure.

Aaron Ashby - Milwaukee Brewers

Ashby is sitting at 36% rostered right now. That's a pretty high percentage for a non-starter or closer.

Ashby has been stellar all season for the Brewers. He has appeared in 19 games already, and despite not having a save or hold, Ashby has already racked up seven wins. He doesn't have a loss or blown save.

He's pitched 26 innings, allowing seven runs (six earned) on 19 hits and 15 walks. Ashby has struck out 41 batters.

Ashby might not be able to sustain the pace he's started the season at, but for as long as his arm holds up, he can be a sneaky-good fantasy asset, even while not closing games. Look into adding him in some deeper leagues. He could even be a standard league option depending on your scoring settings, so look into those, then how Ashby has fared so far.
