Ryan Waldschmidt - Arizona Diamondbacks

Waldschmidt has been picked up in 2.48% of fantasy baseball leagues so far on Monday. He sits at 24.22% owned overall.

Waldschmidt was called up to the big leagues on Friday. He is the No. 44 prospect in baseball, so he saw his own percentage jump up a decent amount right away. After three games, he's still on the rise.

The 23-year-old outfielder was the 31st overall pick in 2024. He's a 55-graded prospect, with 55 marks for his hitting, power and running, then 50s for his arm and fielding.

In parts of three minor league seasons, Waldschmidt owned a .288 average and .421 on-base percentage over 182 games. He had 38 doubles, 21 homers and seven triples among his 189 total hits, plus 107 RBIs, 155 runs scored, 39 stolen bases, 130 walks and 153 strikeouts.

Waldschmidt had a .289 average and .400 OBP in 34 Triple-A games this season, and the D-Backs determined he was ready for the big leagues, which was a bit of a surprise to some. Waldschmidt has delivered early on, collecting three hits over eight plate appearances. He has a double, three RBIs, a run scored, no walks and four strikeouts so far.

I liked Waldschmidt as a prospect, and I'm going to trust the team that they believe he's ready for the big leagues. Adding Waldschmidt in deeper leagues is a good move in my eyes. Be ready to pounce if he delivers more at the plate - if you aren't ready to add him today.

Waldschmidt could eventually work into standard leagues too, so keep tabs on him and his stats.

Brandon Marsh - Philadelphia Phillies

Marsh is up 5.18% so far today, and he sits at 58.6% overall now.

In 37 games and 144 plate appearances this season, Marsh has 47 hits and seven walks for a .353 average and .382 OBP. He has seven doubles, four homers and a triple among his hits, plus 21 RBIs, 22 runs scored, three stolen bases and 28 strikeouts.

Marsh had a four-hit game on Sunday, and is riding a 12-game hitting streak. He has 20 knocks over that span, and a .500 OBP over that span.

Marsh is on a heater, and it's made him a great deep-league asset. He's even hitting well enough to try in some standard leagues for the time being. Marsh is a better deep-league asset over time, but you might as well add and utilize him while his bat is hot.

Samuel Basallo - Baltimore Orioles

Basallo has been added in 3.41% of leagues, which brings his overall mark to 49.68%.

Basallo is on a six-game hitting streak. He has nine knocks over that span, including four extra-base hits.

Over 33 games and 126 plate appearances this season, Basallo has a .270 average and .333 OBP. He has 31 total hits now, including six doubles, five home runs and one triple. Basallo has 15 RBIs, 14 runs scored, 11 walks and 31 strikeouts.

Basallo gets in the lineup plenty, either playing catcher or serving as the team's designated hitter. He also has four appearances at first base - if he's eligible at catcher and first base, his fantasy value is higher. Anyways, I like Basallo in all deeper leagues right now, and he could be a standard league option if you need help at catcher or first base.

Travis Bazzana - Cleveland Guardians

Bazzana is on the rise, and is rostered in 58.07% of leagues today. He was at 52% on May 8, and he's steadily risen since then.

Bazzana, another high-end prospect, has started to figure things out at the big league level. In 11 games and 48 plate appearances so far, he has a .194 average, but a .396 OBP.

He has seven hits, including a home run on Friday. Bazzana has four RBIs, seven runs scored, 10 walks, seven stolen bases and just six strikeouts so far.

It's great to see patience in a young hitter, and it's helping Bazzana rise as a fantasy asset despite a poor average. I expect the average and other hitting production to jump up in time. Right now, he's a good deep-league asset, but he could work into standard leagues in a hurry if his average rises, so be ready to pounce if he starts delivering a bit more.
