Rising Pitchers & Hot Hitters: Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Adds
A second look at the top waiver wire adds and streaming options to help you win this week.
Let's go over a second round of fantasy baseball waiver wire options for the current week.
Here is the waiver wire story we did on Monday, plus Tuesday's starting pitcher streaming article.
Fantasy baseball waiver wire options can be found all season on FantasySP!
Joey Cantillo - Cleveland Guardians
Cantillo is on the rise as he prepares for another start. He is owned in 54.01% of fantasy baseball leagues at this time.
Cantillo will be making his fourth start of the year on Tuesday, taking on the Cardinals. That's a pretty solid matchup on paper, but it's what Cantillo has done overall this season that has him on the rise.
He's 1-0 with a 2.45 earned run average in his first three starts. Cantillo has worked 14 2/3 innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on 11 hits and seven walks. He has struck out 20 batters already.
Cantillo has had some success in his past, and now as a full-time starter, he has fantasy value to take advantage of. He's worth rostering/holding in all deeper leagues as long as he's pitching well, and he's worth streaming in standard leagues today. If he pitches well again, he could stick in some standard leagues too.
Jeffrey Springs - Athletics
Springs has been added in 10.59% of leagues and sits at 70.41% overall as he prepares for another start.
Springs will be starting against the Rangers on Tuesday. It's not a stellar matchup, but with how Springs has looked this season, he deserves more fantasy attention.
Across three starts so far, Springs is 2-0 with a 1.47 ERA. He has worked 18 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on eight hits and six walks. Springs has struck out 15 batters.
He dominated the Yankees in his last outing, and this matchup is more favorable, so he should be scooped up as a streaming asset in most leagues. With how he's pitched, Springs should be held until his numbers drop off. Definitely consider him at least today though.
Jeremiah Jackson - Baltimore Orioles
Jackson is up 5.36% and is now rostered in 6.86% of leagues overall.
Jackson has been red hot of late, tallying eight hits over his past four games played. He has three homers and a double in that span, plus seven RBIs and four runs scored.
Over 14 games and 46 plate appearances overall, Jackson has a .318 average and .326 on-base percentage. He has three homers and a double among his 14 total knocks, plus 11 RBIs, four runs scored, no walks and 11 strikeouts.
Jackson has been playing pretty much daily at second base, while Baltimore is without Jackson Holliday. Jackson is just a short-term fantasy asset, as Holliday is expected back in the near future. Jackson can play all over the field, so we'll see if this hot stretch keeps him in the lineup, at which point he can be added in more leagues.
Ryan Weathers - New York Yankees
Weathers has been added in 6.25% of leagues as he prepares for a Tuesday start. He is owned in 48.21% of leagues overall.
Weathers will start against the Angels on Tuesday night. That's another good matchup on paper, and Weathers has looked good this season.
He's 0-1 across three starts, but has a 2.81 ERA across 16 innings. He has allowed five runs on 17 hits and five walks, while striking out 18 batters.
The ERA and strikeouts are good marks, but the high WHIP is concerning. I like his matchup and think he deserves serious consideration in all deeper leagues for Tuesday. He's a standard league streaming option as well, and could work into more of those leagues with a good showing tonight.
Brandon Lowe - Pittsburgh Pirates
Lowe is rostered in about 86% of leagues right now, which is up from the past several days, when he was around 83%.
Lowe is back on the rise after posting six hits over his past three contests. He has three homers, 10 RBIs and five runs scored in that span.
He has a .278 average and .400 OBP over 14 games and 65 plate appearances on the season. Lowe has six homers and two doubles among his 15 hits, plus 14 RBIs, nine runs scored, 10 walks and 13 strikeouts.
Lowe has been one of the better fantasy second basemen this season, so he deserves more fantasy love. He's a bit of a streaky hitter, so his own/start percentage will fluctuate based on his numbers of late. He's trending up right now, so he's worth trying in all fantasy leagues until his bat cools back off.
