Sunday's Fantasy Baseball Starting Pitcher Streamers: Trey Yesavage, Eury Perez, and More

Five starting pitchers in action on Sunday who are widely available in fantasy leagues and have good matchups.

The success of the guys picked here for the streaming list isn't always perfect; we're talking mostly about below-average players after all. A duo of Cleveland Guardians made yesterday a great one, though.

Logan Allen and Slade Cecconi started two doubleheader games against the Minnesota Twins, and both were on our streaming list. They combined for 15 shutout innings with 15 strikeouts, as the Guardians swept the games by a combined score of 14-0.

That's about as good a day as any one team is going to have with streaming pitchers. We probably won't see anything like that again for years. These weren't two top-line pitchers coming out and doing their thing; Allen and Cecconi are both available in most fantasy leagues and went unplayed yesterday, a missed fantasy baseball opportunity.

(There's probably some kind of joke in here about a Fantasy Island wish, but it's a football Sunday, and I just don't have the patience.)

Let's look at five starting pitchers in action on Sunday who are widely available in fantasy leagues and have good matchups. Most stats are from MLB.com, as are the probable starters. The full streamer rankings are listed at the bottom.

Joey Cantillo, Cleveland Guardians @ Minnesota Twins

The Guardians have season-long numbers that say we should target them, but they have been on fire recently. Cleveland has won 10 in a row and 15 of their past 16 to move within one game of the Tigers in the AL Central. Because of that, we'll skip going after the Guardians today and instead just focus on Minnesota, who was shut out in both games of the doubleheader yesterday.

Cantillo is an above-average strikeout pitcher who walks a few too many guys. That can be a successful profile, especially as his high strikeouts rise to a bigger degree than his high walks. Cantillo has been very good limiting batters this year in 85 1/3 innings, giving up just 71 hits, 31 earned runs (3.27 ERA), and nine home runs with 40 walks and 95 strikeouts.

Cantillo is a mid-level streamer. While the matchup is good but not great, Cantillo's work has been good enough to push him up another level, especially with big K numbers.

Sean Manaea, New York Mets vs. Washington Nationals

Manaea missed most of the season with an oblique strain and some elbow issues, not making his debut until right before the All-Star break. There has been good and bad to his performance: Manaea has both a walk rate and strikeout rate far better than average, but he has also given up more than a hit per inning and a home run every five innings, particularly getting hit hard since early August.

The Nationals are in the bottom 10 in most offensive box stats, but they are closer to 20th place than 30th in many of those areas, bad but not among the worst. They have been a little worse over the past month and are one of a handful of teams that we can go after every day. Washington is especially poor in the power areas, ranking 27th in home runs, 24th in slugging percentage, and 25th in OPS.

Manaea is a mid-level streamer. His rates are good even if he has been hit harder, so there is a chance for better results over his final start or two, and what better time to turn things around than against one of the bottom offensive teams in the league.

Eury Perez, Miami Marlins @ Texas Rangers

Perez is average with walks and above average with strikeouts, something true in around 90 innings both last year and this year. He has also given up just 63 hits in 86 innings in 2025 and a home run every 7.8 innings, so Perez has run into some bad luck to have an ERA as high as 4.40. He was at 3.15 last season while giving up more hits and homers but also striking out more; ERA is a random stat at times.

The Rangers have been up and down offensively and hold bottom-10 offensive stats over the full season. They had a better stretch that helped play them back into the playoff race, but Texas has now lost six straight and is five games back of the wild card with seven to play. The Rangers are going to fall short of the postseason absent an absolute miracle. It helps that this game takes place in Texas, one of the most pitcher-friendly parks in baseball.

Perez is a mid-level streamer. His strikeout work gives him a nice ceiling, and pitching at the Rangers' home park is an advantage to the defense.

Mitch Spence, Athletics @ Pittsburgh Pirates

Pittsburgh offers one of the best matchups at this point in the season, especially with Colorado playing at home this weekend. The Pirates are in the bottom 10 in essentially every offensive box stat and rank in the top 10 in most batter strikeouts, checking every box. I am ready to go after the Pirates every day.

Spence is good with walks but a little below average with strikeouts, a common type here on the streaming list. Like all A's pitchers, he has fallen victim to pitching half his games in their current home park in Sacramento, a minor league park and one of the best hitter's havens in baseball. Consider his splits:

  • Home: 34 2/3 innings, 44 hits, 32 runs, 10 home runs
  • Away: 43 2/3 innings, 36 hits, 15 runs, 5 home runs

Spence is a low-to-mid-level streamer in this one. The game takes place in Pittsburgh instead of Sacramento, giving him a boost there, and the matchup couldn't be much better, but Spence is a little lower with strikeouts, so I'll dock him just a bit, though he's still a decent option here.

Trey Yesavage, Toronto Blue Jays @ Kansas City Royals

Yesavage made his first big-league start last Monday. It was a successful debut: five innings, three hits, one run, two walks, and nine strikeouts. That's the type of upside Yesavage has as a recent first-round draft pick and something we might see a lot more in the future. His minor league stats were good, so the only thing holding Yesavage back is his inexperience.

Every time they are here, I talk about how Kansas City fails in three main areas: drawing walks, hitting home runs, and scoring runs. The three go together, as free baserunners create more chances to drive in more runs, and home runs with guys on base are more valuable than solo shots. Without getting enough guys on or driving them in with big hits, the Royals fall short in scoring enough to win games.

Yesavage is a mid-to-high-level streamer. I might be a little too overzealous, but I love young pitchers with great pedigree and high upside, and that's exactly what Yesavage has. KC doesn't strike out much, but they are also devoid of power and non-threatening overall.
