Fantasy Baseball Week 19 Waiver Wire Adds: Tyler Fitzgerald, Gavin Lux, Austin Wells and More
Discussing the most-added fantasy baseball players in the 19th week of the fantasy baseball season.
The 19th week of the fantasy baseball season is here, which means it’s time to go over some of the top waiver wire options.
There’s six hitters I want to talk about today. They were all taken from the Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pickups page, which updates daily. I skip the pitching options from the story because FantasySP’s Daniel Hepner covers a lot of those guys in streaming stories.

Xavier Edwards Fantasy Outlook
Edwards has been fantastic since being called up to the big leagues about a month ago. After another strong weekend of play, he’s the most-added waiver wire option among hitters right now. Edwards is rostered in 37% of leagues now.
In 25 games so far, Edwards has a .379 average and .462 on-base percentage. He has five doubles, one triple and a home run among his 33 total knocks. Edwards also has nine RBIs, 14 runs scored, eight stolen bases, 15 walks and 16 strikeouts.
As you can see from the overall stats, Edwards doesn’t have a ton of pop in his bat. Still, he’s a solid fantasy option with a high average and OBP, along with a decent amount of steals already.
He’s a good option in deeper leagues and dynasties, but without much power, Edwards lacks a bit in standard leagues. You still could roll with Edwards until his bat cools off, but I’d prefer to target a hitter with a little more power.
Edwards did homer on Sunday, so he’s worth tracking in case he unlocks a little pop.
Tyler Fitzgerald Fantasy Outlook
Fitzgerald has been one of the hottest hitters over the past couple weeks. He’s up to 70% owned now after barely being rostered in any fantasy leagues a week ago.
In 45 total games this season, Fitzgerald has a .319 average and .383 OBP. He has nine homers, six doubles and two triples among his 37 total knocks. Fitzgerald also has 19 RBIs, 25 runs scored, seven stolen bases, 11 walks and 38 strikeouts.
Fitzgerald is on an 11-game hitting streak, with 16 total knocks over that span. He has eight homers, two doubles and a triple during that span, along with 13 RBIs, 13 runs scored, six walks and 12 strikeouts.
You should be able to see why Fitzgerald is a popular waiver wire hitter right now. He was a good deep league fantasy option a couple days ago, but continues to mash, and is now a solid standard league option.
It’s unlikely that Fitzgerald stays close to this hot for the rest of the season, but he’s a short-term fantasy option in standard leagues at least. He should have a longer leash now in deeper leagues as well.
Add him now before his hot streak runs dry.
Gavin Lux Fantasy Outlook
Lux continued his hot streak over the weekend and is now seeing his own percentage shoot up. He’s rostered in 27% of fantasy leagues now.
In 88 games overall this season, Lux has a .238 average and .297 on-base percentage. He has 12 doubles, six homers and two triples among his 68 total knocks. Lux also has 32 RBIs, 35 runs scored, four stolen bases, 23 walks and 66 strikeouts to his name this season.
Since July 9 (16 games, 13 starts), Lux has 18 total hits, including four homers and doubles. He has 11 RBIs, eight runs scored, five walks and 12 strikeouts over that span.
Lux was a possible late-round draft pick this preseason, but had been a disappointment at the plate for most of the season. He’s starting to look a bit like the hitter he was before missing the entire 2023 season with an injury, and is an intriguing waiver wire option right now.
I like the idea of adding Lux in deeper leagues right now while he’s going good at the plate. Because he’s had MLB success in the past, I could also justify making the move in a standard league.
Even if Lux cools off soon, he’s worth taking a gamble on. He won’t continue to hit at a .400 clip, but he’s doing enough lately to be rostered and started in standard leagues. Give Lux a couple weeks and see how he builds on his recent hot stretch at the plate.
Colton Cowser Fantasy Outlook
Cowser is still a popular waiver wire option after collecting a few more hits over the weekend. His own percentage is 50 now.
In 97 games overall this season, Cowser has a .235 average and .320 OBP. He’s got 15 doubles, 14 homers and a triple among his 68 total hits. Cowser also has 43 RBIs, 40 runs scored, 32 walks, 97 strikeouts and seven stolen bases.
Cowser has hits in 10 of his last 11 games started, with 14 total knocks in that span. He’s had two doubles and homers among the hits, nine RBIs, eight runs scored, five walks and 13 strikeouts.
Cowser was a really popular waiver wire option at the beginning of the season, and now looks to be back in a similar groove now. He was always a solid deep league and dynasty option, but can be rostered and played again now in standard leagues for the time being.
He might just be one of those streaky hitters, but his hot stretches last for extended periods, and he stuffs the stat sheet enough to play him in standard leagues.
Victor Robles Fantasy Outlook
Robles was barely owned in any fantasy leagues at this point a week ago. After a hot week at the plate, he’s up to 19% owned.
He’s played with the Nationals and Mariners this season, but has found way more success in Seattle. He’s got a .379 average and .446 OBP across 31 games with the Mariners.
Robles has 17 hits since July 13, which is just 11 starts. He has three doubles and a homer among the hits, along with two RBIs, four runs scored, four walks and eight strikeouts.
His own percentage suggests he’s an option in deeper leagues, and that’s how I’d treat Robles too. He doesn’t have enough pop to warrant more fantasy love, but that also could come, so keep an eye on Robles.
But Robles is definitely a strong option right now in deeper leagues, even if it doesn’t last the rest of the season. Add him and get him in your starting lineup before he cools off.
Austin Wells Fantasy Outlook
Wells hasn’t been a big fantasy asset most of the season, but is trending up right now. He’s rostered in 15% of leagues.
In 70 games overall, Wells has a .241 average and .343 OBP. He has 10 doubles and eight home runs among his 47 total knocks. Wells also has 25 RBIs, 30 runs scored, one stolen base, 31 walks and 44 strikeouts.
Wells has hits in six of his last seven games played (six starts), with 11 total knocks over that span. He has two homers and a double in that span, along with five RBIs, five runs scored, five walks and just two strikeouts.
He’s a deep league option at this point, and at 25 years old, is a pretty solid asset in dynasties too. While he’s not a huge standard league threat right now, the fantasy catcher position is pretty weak overall, so Wells could be a big-time option with just another few games of strong play, so keep a very close eye on him.
