Fantasy Football Week 10 FantasySP Expert Picks: Russell Wilson, Diontae Johnson, Saquon Barkley and More
The experts at FantasySP answer a handful of questions about Week 10 of the NFL season.
Week 10 marks the beginning of the second half of the NFL season, but fantasy football is coming to an end fast. Most leagues have about five weeks until the playoffs start, meaning time is running out fast to make a push for the postseason.
To help you prepare, Mark Morales-Smith, Morgan Rode, Daniel Leonard and Daniel Hepner convened to answer five questions in advance of Week 10 of the fantasy football season.
Give us a streaming quarterback who will excel in Week 10.
Mark: Despite losing both games, Tua Tagovailoa has looked good since returning from injury. I think he has a breakout game this week against the Rams. The Dolphins defense being awful will only drive up his need to throw early and often.
Morgan: Give me Brock Purdy. Getting Christian McCaffrey back would open the offense up, but the matchup against the Buccaneers is what makes Purdy so appealing this week.
Daniel L.: Russell Wilson is a streaming QB that people might want to start. Although the Commanders just picked up Marshon Lattimore, they aren’t a great defense against the pass and don’t possess a great pass rush either.
Daniel H.: Daniel Jones has one of the best matchups this week against Carolina. The Panthers have allowed the fourth-most yards per pass attempt and third-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks.
Is there a running back you are advising owners to sit this week?
Mark: Everyone is going to hate me for this, but McCaffrey. It makes all the sense in the world for the Niners to ease him into action, and I think they limit him a lot more than people are expecting.
Morgan: I’ll say James Cook. Buffalo hasn’t been giving him too many looks of late, and an average matchup against the Colts isn’t enough to make him a great starting option. I think the only way he puts up an average fantasy score is if he scores, and Indy is great at keeping opposing backs out of the end zone.
Daniel L.: Brian Robinson is someone you might want to sit. The Steelers have been exceptional against the run this year and are likely to get the Commanders off script with their daunting pass rush.
Daniel H.: Travis Etienne and his teammate Tank Bigsby face the Vikings, who have given up the third-fewest yards per rush attempt and sixth-least fantasy points per game to running backs. Minnesota has the best defense by DVOA.
How about a receiver in the WR3/4/flex area who is a must-start?
Mark: There are actually a handful, but I’ll go with a name a lot of fantasy owners have forgotten. I like Jauan Jennings this week in his return to action. He can be a major difference maker for fantasy owners down the stretch with Brandon Aiyuk out and everyone else seemingly always less than 100%.
Morgan: I’ll take another Buffalo player, Khalil Shakir. He’s one of the few healthy Bills wideouts and has performed well of late. I expect that to continue this week and see a big fantasy performance coming.
Daniel L.: I think that Ricky Pearsall has a big week. He is coming into his own, and he is facing a banged-up Buccaneers secondary on a short week.
Daniel H.: Jordan Addison hasn’t had a great encore to his rookie season, but the matchup is pristine in this one against the Jaguars. Jacksonville has allowed the third-most yards per pass attempt and fourth-most fantasy points per game to wide receivers.
Which trade deadline acquisition will make the biggest fantasy impact?
Mark: None of them were huge impact moves on Tuesday, but I’ll have to go with Khalil Herbert sliding into Zack Moss’s role in Cincy. If we are going over the past few weeks, it’s looked like DeAndre Hopkins so far, but I have to go with Amari Cooper. Josh Allen needed that WR1 more than Patrick Mahomes did.
Morgan: Mark named most of them, so I’ll give you another name in Diontae Johnson. I think in time he’ll carve out a big role on the Ravens’ offense, and he and Zay Flowers will both be great starting options down the stretch.
Daniel L.: All the top names were already named, so I’m going to go with an under-the-radar choice in Jonathan Mingo. With CeeDee Lamb possibly missing time, the Cowboys desperately need some juice from another playmaker. I think Mingo can give them that spark and more.
Daniel H.: If we name everyone, we have to get the answer right eventually! One of the receivers is most likely due to players moving in bulk. Johnson has the chance to help Baltimore take another step after joining a team that has struggled to form a full set of successful skill players recently.
And finally, who will be the fantasy MVP of Week 10?
Mark: Bijan Robinson.
Morgan: Kyren Williams. He didn’t score last week, so I feel he’s due for a multi-touchdown game. The matchup against the Dolphins is fantastic, and I think Williams goes off this week.
Daniel L.: Saquon Barkley. I think the mix of him being in rhythm and facing a weak run defense will make him the MVP.
Daniel H.: I’ll agree with the Philadelphia Eagles but focus on their QB Jalen Hurts. Dallas has been one of the worst defensive teams in the league, and Hurts is always involved in both the pass and run game.
