Jake Bauers and Andrew Vaughn - Milwaukee Brewers
We will kick things off today by discussing two players who play first base for Milwaukee. Bauers can also play the corner outfield spots, so they are both in the lineup regularly for the Brewers. Bauers is sitting at 80% owned, while Vaughn is at 24%.
The only thing really holding Bauers back from being owned in all leagues is that he's not playing every single day. He is starting to get more starts against lefties, and he keeps delivering at the plate, so he deserves the added ownership and utilization he's gotten of late.
Bauers has six hits over his past three appearances. He has a homer in back-to-back games, two more doubles in that stretch and five walks, seven RBIs, six runs scored and just two strikeouts.
Overall in 56 games and 226 plate appearances, Bauers has a .286 average and .381 on-base percentage. Bauers has 12 doubles and homers among his 56 total hits, plus 43 RBIs, 38 runs scored, five stolen bases, 28 walks and 50 strikeouts. He's enjoying a career season, and deserves to be utilized in fantasy leagues while he's going well at the plate.
Bauers should be rostered and starting in all deeper leagues now, and he's getting closer and closer to being the same option in standard leagues. Him being at stacked fantasy positions holds him back a bit, but Bauers is likely outproducing a 1B or OF of yours right now, so add and utilize him if you still can.
Vaughn was injured in the first game of the season, so he's played just 27 games overall. He has a .364 average and .417 OBP so far, plus 17 RBIs, 14 runs scored, six walks and 10 strikeouts. Vaughn has nine doubles, two homers and a triple among his 32 total knocks.
The first baseman has nine hits over his past four games, including seven in the past two. Vaughn has four extra-base hits, seven RBIs, four runs scored, no walks and a strikeout in that span.
His bat is heating up, and that means he deserves more fantasy love in deeper leagues. If Vaughn plays daily and keeps producing, he could eventually work into standard leagues, so keep tabs on him.
Matt McLain - Cincinnati Reds
McLain is up 5.29% and he now sits at 34.01% overall.
He has six hits during a four-game hitting streak. That included three homers, four RBIs, five runs scored, two walks and three strikeouts.
McLain has a .212 average and .310 OBP over 62 games and 243 plate appearances this season, so you can see he struggled early on. He has 45 total hits, including 11 doubles and eight home runs, plus 25 RBIs, 27 runs scored, seven stolen bases, 28 walks and 57 strikeouts.
The second baseman and shortstop is rising as a fantasy asset, and starting to show some better signs of life at the plate. McLain is worth adding in some deeper leagues, and he's another one to keep tabs on in case his bat stays hot, as he too could be a standard league asset in time.
Kody Clemens - Philadelphia Phillies
Clemens is rostered in 19% of fantasy leagues right now. He was at 10% on June 2, so he's risen a decent amount in the past week.
He has a four-game hitting streak as well, and he's posted seven knocks in those games. Clemens has four extra-base hits in that stretch, plus two RBIs, five runs scored, no walks and two strikeouts.
In 54 games and 207 plate appearances, Clemens has a .247 average and .317 OBP. He has 46 total hits, including 13 doubles, eight homers and two triples. Clemens has 20 RBIs, 26 runs scored, six stolen bases, 14 walks and 47 strikeouts.
Clemens has played all over the field, so it's worth checking into what positions he could play for your fantasy team. He is a sneaky-good fantasy asset in deeper leagues, so give him a look today.
Paul Goldschmidt - New York Yankees
Goldschmidt is owned in 26% of leagues at the moment. He was at just 8% back on June 2, so he's quickly been scooped up over the past week.
The veteran slugger is getting more playing time of late, with the Aaron Judge injury helping his cause, and Goldy is taking advantage of the extra ABs. He has at least one hit in 11 of his past 12 appearances, and 16 total knocks in that span. Goldschmidt has 13 RBIs, eight runs scored, a stolen base, two walks and eight strikeouts in that stretch.
Over 40 games and 151 plate appearances, Goldschmidt has a .274 average and .351 OBP this season. He has eight doubles and homers, plus a triple, among his 37 total knocks. Goldy has 27 RBIs, 23 runs scored, a stolen base, 13 walks and 29 strikeouts.
The primary first baseman is also getting some starts as the team's designated hitter of late. It doesn't add position versatility, but the extra playing time is giving him more chances to score fantasy points at the plate. He's a rising fantasy asset, and could be another sneaky-good option while Judge is out. Consider picking the veteran up for a little while in some deeper leagues.
