He Just Missed a No-Hitter: Should You Stream This Starting Pitcher on Saturday?

Let's jump right in today and look at five starting pitchers in action on Saturday who are widely available in fantasy leagues and have good matchups.

Most stats are from MLB.com, as are the probable starters. The full streamer rankings are listed at the bottom.

Use FantasySP's waiver wire tool to find the players being added to fantasy leagues most often!

Erick Fedde, Chicago White Sox @ San Francisco Giants

Adrian Houser, San Francisco Giants vs. Chicago White Sox

We'll start today with a game in which we can target both teams with starting pitchers. The White Sox have shown plenty of power, ranking in the top five in home runs (though they are last in doubles, mitigating their total power just a bit, even though homers are more valuable). They mostly top out in the middle, and Chicago's high strikeouts help raise the ceiling for opposing pitchers.

San Francisco is a bit the opposite, showing a decent hit tool but finding no power, ranking in the bottom five in homers (but they are much higher in doubles, coincidentally). The Giants are still far behind every other team in walks, and they have scored the fewest runs of any team, ending up lowlier than their opponents in this game.

Fedde is generally a little worse than average with walks and well below average with strikeouts, and those numbers have held in 2026. He has been OK with hits and runs, but Fedde has given up too many home runs this season, one every 4.2 innings (versus his career rate of one every 6.4 innings and league average around one every 7 innings). He's a fine innings-eater, but Fedde doesn't have many high-level aspects to his game.

Houser had a short stretch of success with the White Sox last season, making him valuable enough to flip to Tampa Bay at the trade deadline, but that luck soon turned, and he has continued struggling a bit this year. Houser is OK with walks but far below average with strikeouts, and he has been hit too hard, leaving him without many areas to excel.

Both Fedde and Houser are low-level streamers. They have decent matchups here, but neither pitcher puts together enough good innings to have much fantasy value, particularly with their lack of strikeouts. Fedde gets a slight advantage because his matchup is probably a little better.

J.T. Ginn, Athletics @ San Diego Padres

Ginn had the toughest of tough breaks in his last start against the Angels. Through eight innings, he gave up no hits, walked one batter, and struck out 10. Then in the bottom of the ninth, he gave up a single on an 0-2 count to lose the no-hitter before the next batter hit a home run, walking it off in a 2-1 defeat for Ginn and the A's. Ginn has been right at average with both walks and strikeouts while doing very well limiting hits, runs, and home runs, so there's value every time he takes the mound.

The Padres pepper the bottom 10 in most offensive box stats, including ranking last by a wide margin in base hits. They are also in the bottom five in all four slash categories, and the only thing in their favor is that they don't strike out a lot, sitting in the middle in batter Ks. There just isn't much to be scared of with San Diego's offense.

Ginn is a mid-to-high-level streamer. The only thing keeping him from the top is that his strikeout work is only average, but the matchup is right here, and Ginn has done well all season, allowing two runs or fewer in nine of his 11 outings (eight starts).

Stephen Kolek, Kansas City Royals vs. Seattle Mariners

Seattle is another team that hits for power but is in the bottom 10 in many other areas. Mashing the ball matters; it's what teams look for most right now. The Mariners are closer to the middle than the top in home runs, though, and they strike out at a top-five rate, helping to keep them at a below-average mark in runs scored. Seattle is a good-but-not-great target most days.

Kolek is a very average pitcher, good with walks but well below average with strikeouts (that's a common type among our streaming pitchers). He is average with limiting hits and runs, and Kolek does very well at keeping the ball in the park, giving up a home run every 11 innings, a fantastic rate. There's not a big ceiling, but Kolek is good enough for some streaming value.

Kolek is a low-to-mid-level streamer. Though Seattle swings and misses a lot, Kolek doesn't strike out a lot of batters, so he might not be able to take big advantage there, leaving him as more of a middling option.

Walbert Urena, Los Angeles Angels vs. Texas Rangers

Urena is in his first major league season, only 33 1/3 innings into his career. He has been decent with strikeouts while walking too many batters, matching his work in the minor leagues. He has done well limiting hits and homers so far, but he has six unearned runs to go along with 10 earned runs, making his 2.70 ERA maybe a bit of a mirage (though that number is very finicky after so few innings). There's a little intrigue here.

Texas is in the bottom 10 essentially across the board, even reaching the bottom five in some categories. Offenses are at a serious disadvantage when playing at the Rangers' home ballpark, as it has played as one of the most pitcher-friendly stadiums over the past few years, so that does eat into their numbers, and this game is on the road in LA, helping Texas a bit. Their numbers are low enough that we can still look at targeting them no matter where they are playing.

Urena is a low-to-mid-level streamer. The matchup is right, but his track record is way too short to expect big things, leaving this as more of a flier.
