Saturday Features Strong Fantasy Baseball SP Streamers
Five starting pitchers with good matchups on Saturday who are widely available in fantasy leagues.
Let's jump right in today and look at five starting pitchers in action on Saturday who are widely available in fantasy leagues and have good matchups.
Most stats are from MLB.com, as are the probable starters. The full streamer rankings are listed at the bottom.

Javier Assad, Chicago Cubs @ Cincinnati Reds
Assad has mixed between starting and coming out of the bullpen while in the majors this season. He has been a much-needed part of the rotation for the past month-plus, as injuries have torn apart Chicago's pitching staff. Many of his numbers are average or better this season, but Assad is giving up too many home runs and has a far-below-average strikeout rate of 14.7% (versus league average around 22%). Assad has been good enough to consider in fantasy while holding a lower ceiling.
Cincinnati has the best record of all the last-place teams, but they play in maybe the best division in baseball so far in 2026, so seven games under .500 has them 16 back in the NL Central. The offense is a major part of the problem, as the Reds rank in the bottom 10 in runs, hits, batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, and OPS. They are up to an average level in the power categories, and Cincinnati draws walks at a good rate, but the Reds are also one of the three worst teams at striking out, setting a higher ceiling for opposing fantasy pitchers.
Assad is a low-to-mid-level streamer. The matchup is good, not great, and Cincinnati's propensity to strike out is mitigated a bit by Assad's low-level K rate, leaving this as a middling-at-best option.
Walker Buehler, San Diego Padres vs. Toronto Blue Jays
Toronto is the opposite of the Reds in a lot of ways, showing a good hit tool but not much power. The Blue Jays also don't walk or strike out much; those teams really are the inverse of each other. That still leaves Toronto as an OK target team but not a group that we will look to go after every day. When the numbers and opposing pitcher are right, though, we can look to target the Blue Jays.
Buehler had a very good June but has struggled hard in two July starts: nine innings, 14 hits, 16 runs, five home runs, and five walks to go with 10 strikeouts. His season-long numbers are just a little worse than average, but Buehler is right near the middle with both walks and strikeouts, something that hasn't been true in several years. Buehler is another guy who is fine to consider in the right matchups.
Buhler is a low-to-mid-level streamer here. His Ks might be enough to push him up another half-notch, but the matchup isn't great, so we'll temper expectations just a bit.
Griffin Jax, Tampa Bay Rays vs. Seattle Mariners
Jax is a fringe streamer, owned in just over 50% of fantasy leagues. We'll include him today because there's enough availability to make it worth checking on him with a positive matchup. Jax has given up a few too many home runs, and he has also allowed 10 unearned runs (and 25 earned), so his 3.46 ERA might be a little misleading. Still, Jax is average with walks and above average with strikeouts, setting him up nicely and giving him a good ceiling.
The Mariners are worse at home, as they play in maybe the best pitcher's park in baseball. They still top out as an average offensive team on the road and are probably a little below that level, making them an intriguing team to target no matter where they play. Seattle is also right at the edge of the top 10 in batter strikeouts, setting a nice ceiling for opposing pitchers.
Jax is a mid-level streamer. He would bump up even another level if this game were in Seattle, but Jax still has plenty of upside in this one and is worthy of a lineup spot in most fantasy leagues today.
Peter Lambert, Houston Astros @ Texas Rangers
Speaking of pitcher's parks, the Rangers' home field of Globe Life Field is the best contender to Seattle's home for the best pitcher's park in the game. This game takes place in Texas, improving the outlook for the pitchers. When looking just at games that teams have played at home, the Rangers are in the bottom 10 across the board, leaving them very vulnerable in this one.
After throwing more than 200 innings over four seasons with Colorado, Lambert is unsurprisingly having his best season after joining Houston. His walk rate is just a hair higher than average, but he offsets that with a strikeout rate a little better than average. Lambert has done very well limiting hits, runs, and home runs, giving him a solid outlook every time he takes the mound.
Lambert is a mid-level streamer. The location is heavily in his favor, and Lambert has been good enough to expect a strong outing in this one.
Casey Mize, Detroit Tigers vs. Philadelphia Phillies
Mize is another pitcher owned in over 50% of leagues, making him a non-streamer by some measures. There's still enough availability to make it worth checking on him, though, as Mize has been fantastic when on the field (he has hit the IL twice, missing time in May and June). In 71 2/3 innings, Mize has given up just 54 hits, 21 runs, and five home runs with both a walk rate and strikeout rate far better than average. The only thing going against him has been the missed time; Mize belongs on a roster in every league.
Philadelphia has found their way after a horrible start, playing like a top-10 offensive team by many measures over the past month. They still rate out in the middle overall, but I'm not excited about targeting the Phillies many days anymore. This has as much to do with the pitcher as it does Philadelphia's middling numbers, though the Phils do strike out at a top-10 rate.
Mize is a mid-to-high-level streamer. He won't be listed as a streamer often, as we'll usually have more guys who fit the bill, but on a day when we could use another pitcher, he's worth mentioning due to fantasy owners still letting him wallow on the free agent market in too many leagues.
