Fantasy Football Week 5 WR Start/Sit Decisions Involving Meyers, Wilson, and Doubs

Dohnte Meyers, Roman Wilson and Romeo Doubs headline this week's WR decisions as fantasy managers look for the right lineup combinations.

With Week 5 NFL games underway now, let's take a look at some wide receiver start/sit decisions involving players from Sunday and Monday games!

We'll discuss some of the more popular wideouts on the start/sit tool here at FantasySP, then compare them to several other wide receivers.

Use the FantasySP start/sit decision for all your Week 5 lineup decisions! Projections and defensive rankings are also available!

Popular Wideouts in Trending Decisions

There are three receivers who show up multiple times on the start/sit tool, so let's discuss them at length to kick off our article.

Cincinnati's Dohnte Meyers is the most popular receiver on the start/sit tool, with the injuries to Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins making Meyers more prominent.

With both those wideouts getting injured in Week 4, Meyers had his first breakout NFL game. He went for 82 yards on seven receptions and nine targets. It's no surprise that he logged a season-high 68 snaps, which was 89.5% of the team's total - he played 32 snaps (56.1%) in Week 3, so he's trending up the past couple weeks.

He'd be aided most if Higgins and/or Chase were out this week, but there's a chance Meyers produces a bit even with those two players out there. The Bengals take on the Dolphins, who are actually the third-toughest fantasy test for wideouts so far, so tread carefully with all the Bengals' wideouts.

Meyers is just a deep-league option if Chase and Higgins are cleared to play. He could be a flex-level option in standard leagues if just one of them is out, and he'd be a must-start guy if both missed Week 5, even heading into the tough matchup.

Pittsburgh's Roman Wilson is another popular wideout on the start/sit tool.

He was a popular waiver wire pickup this week after catching half of his six targets in Week 4 for 74 yards and a score. Wilson also scored in Week 3, adding in 60 yards on three catches and six targets.

He has six targets in all four games this season, and at least three catches, so he's been a decent fantasy option. With Michael Pittman banged up, his offensive role will improve in the meantime, so he's an even better pickup and starting option for this week, at least.

Indianapolis is his matchup, and the Colts have been a slightly better-than-average matchup for wideouts so far, so things are lining up pretty well for Wilson.

He's at least a deep-league fantasy starting option, and he could sneak in as a flex-level starter in standard leagues depending on your other options and matchups.

New England's Romeo Doubs is a third wide receiver who appears on the start/sit tool a couple times.

He's trending up as well after going for 58 yards and two scores on six receptions and nine targets in his last game. He had three catches over four targets in Weeks 2 and 3, rallying 96 and 49 yards, respectively.

Doubs could be the top pass catcher in New England as A.J. Brown continues to miss time with an injury. He's a pretty solid option for Week 5, but actually faces a tougher test against the Raiders.

I still see Doubs as a standard league option, but more so as a flex option. He's a pretty solid option in deeper leagues, and only should be benched if you are stacked at receiver.

Other Receivers to Consider

Meyers, Wilson and Doubs are in part of trending decisions with Minnesota's Jordan Addison, Miami's Malik Washington, Denver's Courtland Sutton, Jacksonville's Jakobi Meyers, Las Vegas' Tre Tucker, Washington's Terry McLaurin and Indianapolis' Josh Downs.

Let's discuss those wide receivers and their outlooks for Week 5 quickly before getting to start/sit decisions and more fantasy data!

Addison gets a below-average matchup against the Saints this week. He's had a couple decent PPR outings in a row, so he's trending up at least.

Washington has been pretty involved most of the season, but without a score, he's a better deep-league option. His matchup against the Bengals is below average as well.

Sutton has not gotten going yet this season, but maybe Sean Payton being more involved with the Broncos' offense will spark Sutton starting in Week 5. The Chargers are his matchup, and are an average test on paper.

Meyers has a couple of touchdown grabs to prop up an otherwise pretty lackluster season so far. His Week 5 challenge against the Eagles is above average though, so maybe he can deliver a season-best outing in a couple of days.

Tucker has one big game, and otherwise so-so PPR outings so far in 2026. The Patriots offer him an above-average matchup, so we'll see if he can deliver in it.

McLaurin has one solid fantasy showing, but also missed last week's game. Watch his status this week, but if he plays, he just has an average test coming against the Giants.

Downs has a couple solid showings this season, but also a couple of duds, so he's hard to trust right now. Pittsburgh will be a tougher test for him, so many might be skipping Downs this week.

Start/Sit Recommendations

A couple of the wideouts we've discussed made my top-30 fantasy WR rankings for Week 5.

Addison was the top-ranked guy, coming in 26th. Doubs was a spot after Addison.

After those two, here's how I'd rank everyone else: Downs, Washington, Wilson, Sutton, McLaurin, Jakobi Meyers and Tucker. Dohnte Meyers would come in last if Higgins and Chase play. If one of them is out, I'd slot Dohnte Meyers between McLaurin and the other Meyers. If both Higgins and Chase are out, then Dohnte Meyers would jump between Washington and Wilson.

We'll end by looking at trending decisions involving the wideouts we've discussed.

Fantasy owners like Addison over Dohnte Meyers right now, and are starting both guys just 8% of the time. Wilson is the favorite over Tucker, with both starting 13% of the time.

Doubs is the heavy favorite over McLaurin for now, with both starting 12% of the time. Washington is the heavily preferred guy over Dohnte Meyers for now, with both starting 20% of the time.

Downs is slightly preferred over Doubs, with both wideouts being started 21% of the time. Dohnte Meyers is started slightly over Sutton, with both starting just 8% of the time. Jakobi Meyers is favored over Wilson, with both starting just 10% of the time.
