Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire: Best Hitter Pickups for Tuesday
A look at the top fantasy baseball hitter pickups for Tuesday, including rising bats and short-term streamers.
We just went over some fantasy baseball pitchers to possibly add off the waiver wire on Tuesday. Here, let's go over some hitters to possibly add.
Here is the waiver wire hitter story from Monday.
Fantasy baseball waiver wire options can be found all season on FantasySP!
Dalton Rushing and Max Muncy - Los Angeles Dodgers
Rushing is rostered in 20.69% of leagues after being added in nearly 7% of leagues already today. Muncy is at 75.65% overall after being at about 73% a couple days ago.
Rushing has played in just eight games this season, but he's red hot. He's hitting .444 and getting on base at a .464 clip over 28 plate appearances. Rushing has 12 hits, including seven home runs and two doubles. He also has 13 RBIs, 10 runs scored, no walks and eight strikeouts.
I don't know how you keep a hot hitter like that out of the lineup - only on a stacked team like the Dodgers, I guess. Anyways, he's played in three straight games, and continues to deliver big for LA.
He mostly spells catcher Will Smith, but Rushing has also served as the designated hitter once. He started at first base on Monday - Freddie Freeman is on the paternity list.
What I'm getting at is that Rushing is stuck behind some really good players. He'll fill in for Freeman for a couple days, then likely go back to his reserve role. It's hard to be a legit fantasy asset in a reserve role, regardless of how much they are delivering when in the lineup.
Rushing is worth adding in really deep leagues, and can be a short-term streamer while Freeman is out. Otherwise, he's only startable/streamable when he's in the lineup, and that's only been a couple times a week early on.
Keep tabs on Rushing, but I think there are better targets out there to go after instead.
Muncy starts daily for the Dodgers, and is the team's third baseman. He has a .303 average and .376 OBP over 21 games and 85 plate appearances so far. Muncy has 23 hits, including eight home runs and a double. He also has nine RBIs, 18 runs scored, nine walks and 25 strikeouts.
Muncy has been red hot early on, and regression is coming at some point. I'm a bit surprised he isn't owned in more leagues right now, because he's worth utilizing in all leagues until his numbers drop off a bit.
He has seven hits over the past two games, and 10 hits over his past four appearances. Add and utilize Muncy until his bat cools off a bit.
Brayan Rocchio - Cleveland Guardians
Rocchio has been added in 4.53% of leagues, bringing his overall mark to 10.48%.
He starts most days at shortstop for Cleveland. Rocchio has 20 hits on the season for a .286 average, while posting a .390 OBP over 83 plate appearances in his 23 games played.
He has 12 of those hits over the past seven games, and has seen his average go up over 100 points in that stretch. Rocchio has three homers and doubles among his hits this season, plus 14 RBIs, nine runs scored, a stolen base, 10 walks and only nine strikeouts.
Rocchio has been flying under the radar, even after his red hot stretch of late. He's worth adding in some deeper leagues, although he's likely to cool off and top out as a deep-league option, so don't be adding him in any standard leagues today.
Mickey Moniak - Colorado Rockies
Moniak is up to 40.11% rostered after being added in 3.57% of leagues today.
Moniak has played in 16 games, getting 59 plate appearances on the season. He starts against right-handed starting pitchers, and usually sits when lefties are out there. Moniak has a .273 average and .305 OBP so far, plus 12 RBIs, 10 runs scored, a stolen base, three walks and 14 strikeouts.
He has 15 total hits, including three doubles and six homers. Moniak has at least one hit in five straight games, with three doubles and a double in that stretch.
Moniak has had some success since joining the Rockies, and he's a sneaky-good fantasy asset. He's just a deep-league asset right now, but more success could turn him into a standard leaguer, so keep tabs on him.
Leody Taveras - Baltimore Orioles
Tavares is owned in just 4.31% of leagues, but that's up from not being owned hardly at all on April 14.
Taveras might be the best kept secret in the big leagues, as he holds a .341 average and .453 OBP over 19 games and 54 plate appearances. He has 15 hits, including three doubles and two homers, plus 13 RBIs, eight runs scored, a stolen base, nine walks and 12 strikeouts.
He was a reserve early on, but has started nine of the past 11 contests, and played the entire game. He's been helped by injuries to several players, most notably outfielders Heston Kjerstad and Tyler O'Neill. Taveras' playing time could dry up soon, so utilize him while you can.
Taveras is just a deep-league option, and we're talking really deep leagues. He is producing plenty, so add and utilize him while he's still playing pretty regularly.
