Thursday Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pickups: Jakob Marsee Headlines Latest Targets
Rhett Lowder and Eduardo Rodriguez are streaming options for Thursday, while Marsee, Josh Bell and Troy Johnston are worth waiver wire looks.
Thursday is upon us, so let's go over our fourth round of fantasy baseball waiver wire/streaming pickups of the week!
Here are the stories from Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, plus a starting pitcher streaming article for Thursday.
Fantasy baseball waiver wire options can be found all season on FantasySP!
Rhett Lowder - Cincinnati Reds
Lowder sits at 40.69% owned as he prepares to make his next start.
Lowder will be making a start against the Marlins on Thursday afternoon. That's a pretty solid matchup on paper.
He's been good in his first two starts. Lowder took a no decision against the Red Sox in his first outing - he allowed two runs on three hits and two walks, while striking out five over five innings. He won against the Rangers in his last outing, not allowing a run on three hits and two walks, while striking out four over six frames.
Lowder has been good so far, and the matchup today is good enough to lead to a third positive start. I'm all for streaming him in deeper leagues for this start. I'd even consider him in standard leagues, but wouldn't force him into my lineup.
Josh Bell - Minnesota Twins
Bell is up to 17% owned, after starting the regular season near 7%.
Bell has performed well in the early going for his new team. Over 12 games and 47 plate appearances, Bell has a .270 average and .404 on-base percentage. He has 10 hits, including four doubles and two home runs, plus nine RBIs, 10 runs scored, eight walks and 14 strikeouts.
He plays most days, and had been hitting in the top half of the lineup. He hit sixth in back-to-back games, and those came against left-handed starting pitchers. So it appears that he's hitting third or fourth against righties and sixth against lefties.
Either way, he's in the lineup daily, which is good for his fantasy outlook. He's delivering enough at the plate to add and utilize him in some fantasy leagues.
He's a first baseman, which is a loaded fantasy position, otherwise he'd be an even bigger fantasy asset. Consider adding Bell in deeper leagues, and don't be afraid to stream him in some standard leagues when he's hot at the plate - just don't expect him to be a long-term option in anything but deeper leagues.
Troy Johnston - Colorado Rockies
Johnston is up to 14.78% rostered - he was barely rostered to start the season.
In his first 11 games and 41 plate appearances of 2026, Johnston has a .342 average and .375 OBP. He has 13 hits, including three doubles and two home runs. Johnston has six RBIs, six runs scored, two walks and seven strikeouts as well.
He should have position eligibility at first base and in the corner outfield spots. Those are loaded fantasy spots, but the multi-position eligibility is a plus for Johnston.
With how he's hitting to start the year, Johnston is worth rostering and utilizing in more deeper leagues. Get him added to your league, especially if you need a 1B or OF.
Jakob Marsee - Miami Marlins
Marsee is trending back up after falling below 70% owned. He's at about 72% rostered right now.
Marsee was a popular fantasy player coming into the season, but he started the year poorly. He has a .174 average and .278 OBP over 12 games and 54 plate appearances. Marsee has eight hits, including one double and triple, plus three RBIs, eight runs scored, five stolen bases, six walks and 14 strikeouts.
He has two hits in two straight games, and he stole four of his bases in one of those games. Marsee can stuff the stat sheet when he's able to get on base.
Marsee looked good in a 55-game showing in 2025, and I like his outlook for 2026. He started slow, but appears to be heating back up now. Give him some adds in standard leagues, and if he keeps producing, he could be owned in most leagues in a hurry, so don't wait too long to add him.
Eduardo Rodriguez - Arizona Diamondbacks
Rodriguez is owned in about 34% of fantasy leagues right now - he is another streaming option for Thursday.
He will be making a start against the Mets on Thursday afternoon. New York isn't the best team to target, but they are a better matchup down Juan Soto, who is on the injured list.
In Rodriguez's first start, he worked five innings against the Dodgers, allowing an unearned run on four hits and two walks - he struck out five. He worked seven scoreless frames against the Braves in his second start - Rodriguez allowed four hits and one walk, while striking out three.
Those are both good offenses, so I get the idea behind starting him today against the Mets, who might actually be the worst offense of that trio of teams. That makes Rodriguez a streaming option for Thursday.
I'm fine with streaming him in some deeper leagues today, but think there are probably better options available to stream in standard leagues. I'm not totally opposed to it, but I'm not sold on Rodriguez after two good starts.
