A fresh batch of waiver wire targets for Monday, featuring hitters and pitchers off to strong starts in 2026.

After taking a look at fantasy baseball waiver wire/streaming options based on weekly projections, let's look at more traditional waiver wire adds for Monday here.

Also be sure to check out Monday's starting pitcher streaming article.

Fantasy baseball waiver wire options can be found all season on FantasySP!

Cam Smith - Houston Astros

Smith has been added in 5.88% of fantasy leagues, bringing his overall mark to 22.77% overall.

Smith has enjoyed a nice start to his second big league season. He has a .273 average and .400 on-base percentage over 10 games and 40 plate appearances. He has two home runs and a double among his nine knocks, plus six walks, three stolen bases, five RBIs, seven runs scored and 10 strikeouts.

He has a hit in six straight games, with eight knocks in that stretch. Smith has four RBIs over his past two games, so he's trending up for sure.

Smith is a pretty solid deep-league asset, and I'm a bit surprised to see his own percentage where it's currently at. I think he deserves more fantasy love.

If he keeps delivering, Smith could sneak into standard leagues too, so be ready to add him in those leagues too possibly down the line. He's worth adding in deeper leagues today though.

Bryce Elder - Atlanta Braves

Elder is up 10.07% so far today, and now sits at 34.65% overall.

Elder's first two starts have been stellar. He's yet to allow an earned run, although he took a loss after allowing two unearned runs in his last appearance. He has worked 13 innings, giving up nine hits and two walks, while striking out 13 batters.

He's looked very good in the early going, and maybe he is in store for a bounceback year. Elder had 3.17 and 3.81 earned run averages across his first two seasons, but has been over 5.30 in each of the past two years.

Elder is not even 27 years old yet, so maybe he's entering his prime and in for a career year. At least add him in deeper leagues after the start he's had to the season, and consider him as a streamer in standard leagues.

Ryan O'Hearn - Pittsburgh Pirates

O'Hearn has been added in 3.09% of leagues and sits at 68.54% overall.

He has played in eight games and logged 37 plate appearances so far this season. O'Hearn has a .367 average and .459 OBP so far. He's homered three times and doubled once among his 11 total knocks. O'Hearn also has 11 RBIs, five runs scored, six walks and six strikeouts.

O'Hearn is delivering early and often for his new team. I like his outlook in Pittsburgh, and importantly, he's playing daily and producing so far.

Add him in all deeper leagues, and stream him in some standard leagues for the time being. He's eligible at first base and in the outfield, so he can help out at a few different spots.

Jordan Walker - St. Louis Cardinals

Walker is up 12.45% and sits at 39.6% overall now.

Walker has turned up his production to kick off 2026. Over nine games and 34 plate appearances, he has nine hits and four walks, which equates to a .300 average and .382 OBP. He has two homers and doubles, plus eight RBIs, seven runs scored, a stolen base, four walks and nine strikeouts.

Walker has failed to live up to the hype he had when he reached the big leagues, and after his rookie season, but he could be on his way to a stellar year after how he's started.

I'd be adding Walker in deeper leagues today, and watching him for standard league adds down the line. He'll need to keep producing, and stay healthy, but in his age-23/24 season, it's more than doable.

Miguel Vargas - Chicago White Sox

Vargas is rostered in 43.71% of leagues after a 9.49% increase so far today.

Vargas has been pretty good to kick off the 2026 season. He has eight hits, including three doubles and one triple and home run across nine games and 36 plate appearances. Vargas has a .276 average and .389 OBP, along with seven RBIs, eight runs scored, three stolen bases, five walks and seven strikeouts.

Vargas has had stretches of strong play in the past, and he's in a good groove of late, filling up the stat sheet in the process. He's importantly playing daily and hitting in good spots for fantasy production.

Chicago might not be a very good team, but that doesn't mean a player like Vargas isn't worth rostering if he's delivering enough. Consider adding Vargas in all deeper leagues, and streaming him in standard leagues if his bat stays hot this coming week.

Garrett Mitchell - Milwaukee Brewers

Mitchell has been added in 6.57% of leagues, which brings his overall mark up to 15.51%. Mitchell was part of the weekly projection/waiver story, but I wanted to discuss him a bit more here.

He's off to a great start in 2026, collecting seven hits over his first eight games and 27 plate appearances. Mitchell has three doubles and a homer among the hits, plus 11 RBIs, four runs scored, three stolen bases, four walks and 10 strikeouts.

Mitchell had a five-RBI game over the weekend, and has reached base safely in each of his past four starts. He's playing a bit more with some injuries around him in Milwaukee, but could settle into more of a platoon when the Brewers are at full health.

Until that point, Mitchell can be added and utilized in deeper leagues. He could be considered as a streaming option in standard leagues, but he should just be viewed as a short-term asset in those leagues. If he stays healthy and keeps producing, Mitchell could work into standard leagues for good, but that's a ways off from happening.
