Thursday's Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Targets: Romy Gonzalez, Walker Buehler and More
Looking at a few waiver wire pitchers and hitters to consider adding in fantasy baseball leagues.
The fantasy baseball season is just about in the books, and today will serve as my final fantasy waiver wire story of the season.
We won't cover anyone who appeared in waiver wire stories from Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, and we'll skip any starting pitcher streaming options from Thursday's story.
Thanks for following along all season!

Should You Add Masataka Yoshida?
Yoshida sits at just 5% rostered. He is up about 2% over the past two days.
Yoshida has been on a roll since September 14. In the eight games and 35 plate appearances since, Yoshida has 13 hits, including a homer and three doubles. He also has eight RBIs, four runs scored, a stolen base and walk and no strikeouts.
His season has lasted only 51 games thus far. He has a .260 average and .302 on-base percentage over 189 plate appearances. Yoshida has 11 doubles and three homers among his 45 total knocks, along with 24 RBIs, 14 runs scored, three stolen bases, nine walks and 23 strikeouts.
Yoshida has mostly been the team's designated hitter this season, but he's played in left and right field as well, and hopefully is eligible there too. If not, you can see why he's only rostered in a handful of leagues.
With how well he's been hitting of late, I like the idea of adding Yoshida for the final few games of the season, especially in deeper leagues. There's not a ton of pop in his bat, but on a high average and OBP alone, there's good fantasy value here. He doesn't hurt himself with a ton of strikeouts either, so don't write him off just because he lacks a ton of power.
He could be a useful fantasy bat over the final couple days of the regular season.
Should You Add Blaine Crim?
Crim is owned in 9% of leagues. He wasn't rostered in any leagues back on September 18.
Crim was called up to the big leagues on September 12. He has a .289 average and .341 OBP in the 11 games and 44 plate appearances since. Crim has 11 knocks over that span, including five home runs and a double.
Crim also has 12 RBIs, eight runs scored, four walks and 13 strikeouts. He's found some life with the Rockies, after getting to the big leagues with the Rangers back in May.
He's another deep-league fantasy asset, but a pretty solid one of late. There's some pop in his bat to take advantage of, even though the strikeout totals aren't the best.
Crim has mostly been a first baseman, which is already a stacked fantasy position. Still, I like the idea of adding him for the final few games of the regular season, as an extra infielder or utility hitter.
Should You Add Romy Gonzalez?
Gonzalez is rostered in 28% of fantasy leagues. He was at 23% back on September 20.
Gonzalez is on a five-game hitting streak, and has eight knocks over that span. He has two doubles among the hits, along with four RBIs, walks and runs scored, a stolen base and three strikeouts.
Over 94 games and 333 plate appearances this season, Gonzalez has a .309 average and .348 OBP. He has 23 doubles, nine homers and three triples among his 95 total hits. Gonzalez has 53 RBIs, 46 runs scored, six stolen bases, 18 walks and 78 strikeouts.
There's some really good numbers in there, so it's a surprise to see his own percentage a bit lower. He's played first and second base most often, but even that dual-eligibility would make him a better fantasy asset (and he's probably eligible at third base, shortstop and the outfield from past seasons).
I'd definitely add Gonzalez in some deeper leagues for the final couple games of the season. He has a longer track record of success this season than the two hitters we've mentioned so far, so I'd like adding him the most.
Should You Add Walker Buehler?
Buehler has been added in 2.07% of leagues as he prepares for a Thursday start. He is rostered in 28.87% of leagues overall.
Buehler will make a start against the Marlins, which is a favorable matchup on paper. He has not faced them yet this season.
Buehler has looked good in his two appearances for the Phillies. He allowed a run on five hits and a walk over five innings in a winning effort on September 12 - he struck out three in that one.
He struck out three more in another win on September 19. Buehler worked 3 2/3 innings in relief, not allowing a run on two hits and two walks.
He threw 90 pitches in one outing and 60 in his last one, so he's stretched out enough to cover several innings tonight. In the favorable matchup, it's easy to see why he's being added.
He's not a must-add pitcher in deeper leagues, but he's also probably one of the better options available, so I'd be happy to add and utilize him tonight. In a pinch, I don't think it'd be crazy to stream him in a standard league either.
Should You Add J.T. Ginn?
Ginn is up 2.06% and sits at 9.28% overall. He also will make a start on Thursday.
He'll have a bit tougher test against the Astros. Ginn has faced them three times already, combining for 10 2/3 innings over one start and two relief outings. He earned a win in the start, not allowing a run on three hits over six innings, while striking out four and walking none.
Ginn has allowed two or fewer runs in each of his past three starts. He's 2-0 with a 1.76 earned run average over 15 1/3 innings.
This matchup might not be the best, but I don't hate the idea of streaming him in some deeper leagues. I think you could do better in a standard league.
