Warming Bernabel and Giancarlo Stanton Among Saturday's Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Adds
Looking at a few waiver wire pitchers and hitters to consider adding in fantasy baseball leagues.
After the MLB trade deadline, it's worth doing a couple extra fantasy baseball waiver wire stories. So, I'm here today to go over some more players.
Also be sure to check out Saturday's streaming pitcher article.

Should You Add Warming Bernabel?
Bernabel is up 3.2% and sits at just 13.36% overall.
Bernabel is just six games into his big league career, but he's been absolutely red hot. He had four hits, including a triple and homer, on Friday, and now has 11 hits over his first 25 plate appearances.
He has three homers, two homers and a triple among those hits. Bernabel also has seven RBIs, five runs scored, a walk and two strikeouts.
The 23-year-old is not a top-30 prospect of the Rockies, but he posted good numbers over his minor league career. He had a .277 average and .327 on-base percentage over 475 career games and 2,009 plate appearances. He flashed some pop, with 103 doubles, four triples and 50 homers among his 507 hits.
Bernabel is taking advantage of available playing time and excelling at the plate so far. He's not going to stay this hot all season of course, but he's worth adding in more deeper leagues until his bat cools off.
He's played first base and third base in the big leagues so far. Bernabel has minor league experience at second base as well, so there's a few ways to get him into the lineup. That position versatility could be beneficial to his fantasy outlook in the long run.
He should top out as a deep-league option, but after the hot start he's had, all fantasy owners need to be aware of Bernabel.
Should You Add Lenyn Sosa?
Sosa is up to 19.03% after a 3.99% increase today.
He has multiple hits in four straight games, and has 12 knocks over his past seven games. Sosa has two homers and a double among those 12 hits, along with nine RBIs, four runs scored, two walks and just one strikeout in that span.
Sosa is a bit underrated looking at his season-long numbers. He has a .282 average and .308 OBP over 93 games and 345 plate appearances. He has 16 doubles, 11 homers and a triple among his 93 hits, while also tallying 43 RBIs, 33 runs scored, two stolen bases, 11 walks and 76 strikeouts.
He's played first, second and third base, so that position versatility is a nice bonus for fantasy owners interested in adding him. Again, I think Sosa is undervalued and underowned for what he's done at the plate so far.
I'd give him an add in a good amount of deeper leagues, at least until his hot streak wears off. There's a chance you add him and never end up dropping him in deeper leagues. He also has dynasty/keeper value as a 25-year-old.
I think he'll top out as a deep-league option, but in hot stretches, like the one he's on, I wouldn't mind utilizing Sosa in some standard leagues too, especially if you need infield help.
Don't avoid Sosa just because he's hitting inside a weak White Sox' lineup.
Should You Add Giancarlo Stanton?
Stanton is trending up and is now owned in 56% of leagues.
Stanton has popped a homer in back-to-back games, and has a hit in 25 of his first 33 games of the year. He has 26 RBIs, 16 runs scored, 11 walks and 42 strikeouts so far.
He has nine homers and three doubles among his 31 total hits. Outside a higher strikeout mark, Stanton is really putting together a nice season so far.
I think he's already made it to must-own status in deeper leagues, and am a bit surprised he's not rostered in more leagues. He's a big name and still playing for the Yankees, and usually just playing for the Yanks is enough to roster a fantasy player in more leagues than they should be.
Something holding him back from being owned in more leagues is that he's failed to play the field, but that could be changing. New York might play him in the outfield when Aaron Judge comes off the injured list, in an effort to protect Judge and minimize the risk of re-injury.
Stanton last played the field in 2023, so it'll be an adjustment period for sure, and it could impact his hot hitting a bit. We'll address that if his hitting marks start to dip when he plays in the field, but for now, I look at him playing the field as a positive.
Stanton should gain outfield eligibility soon, and that will make him more valuable in fantasy leagues. If he had outfield eligibility right now, I bet his own percentage would be closer to 70%, if not higher.
Keep tabs on Stanton if you aren't ready to roster him right now. Get creative and find a way to add and utilize him right now and then you'll likely gain a power-hitting outfielder for the stretch run.
Should You Add J.T. Ginn?
Ginn is up 4.02% and is rostered in 12.15% of leagues overall.
Ginn is a streaming option for Saturday. He'll be starting against the Diamondbacks in a night contest.
Ginn has been excelling on the big league hill of late. He's coming off a six-inning shutout of the Astros, who are a better lineup than the Diamondbacks right now. Ginn had four strikeouts in that outing, while allowing three hits, no walks and a hit batter.
He allowed a run on five hits and a walk over five innings against the Rangers in the start before that. Ginn struck out just two in that contest though.
Ginn worked in relief for several appearances before that, but has only allowed over four runs in an outing once this season, and that came way back on May 19.
Overall, Ginn is 2-2 with a hold over 13 games and 44 innings. He has a 3.89 earned run average, allowing 19 runs on 42 hits and 10 walks. Ginn has struck out 47 batters along the way.
I don't love the matchup against the Diamondbacks, although it's more favorable after the deadline deals that sent Josh Naylor and Eugenio Suarez away. At the same time though, Ginn has pitched well this season, so even a less than favorable matchup shouldn't be as intimidating.
I like the idea of starting Ginn in deeper leagues today, but wouldn't call him a must-start pitcher. He's an under-the-radar option who could surprise today though.
I wouldn't mind starting him in some standard leagues today as a result. I think there's better options out there, but again, things are more favorable for Ginn than they first appear.
Should You Add Cam Schlittler?
Schlittler got a 3.94% boost and is at 31.58% overall.
He'll be another streaming option, and face the Marlins in an afternoon tilt. It will be Schlittler's fourth start of the season.
In his first three outings, Schlittler has looked solid. He is 1-1 with a 4.91 ERA over 14 2/3 innings so far. Schlittler has allowed eight runs on 18 hits and nine walks, while striking out 15 batters.
He allowed three runs over 5 1/3 innings against the Mariners in his MLB debut on July 9. Schlittler allowed two runs over five frames against the Blue Jays on July 22. He then gave up three runs over 4 1/3 innings against the Rays on July 28.
You can see by those results that he hasn't worked deep in games, so his fantasy ceiling is capped. He had five and seven strikeouts in two of those outings, so there's some strikeout potential to offset the lower innings pitched.
I'd only want to start Schlittler in deeper leagues though, and he's not close to being a must-start pitcher. He could surprise tonight, but the Marlins' offense has been better of late, and I'm not as willing to stream against them as I was earlier in the season.
