Wednesday's Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Options: Andrew Vaughn, Marcell Ozuna and More

Looking at a few waiver wire pitchers and hitters to consider adding in fantasy baseball leagues.

A day before the MLB trade deadline, let's go over another batch of fantasy baseball waiver wire targets.

We won't include anyone who appeared in stories on Monday or Tuesday, or who are a streaming option from Wednesday's article.

Check out the top fantasy baseball waiver wire options everyday on FantasySP.

Should You Add Andrew Vaughn?

Vaughn is up 3.61% so far and sits at 17.39% overall.

He's been on a tear since getting called up by the Brewers. Vaughn had another clutch hit on Tuesday, hitting a grand slam to help the team past the Cubs. He finished with three hits and six RBIs.

In 15 games and 57 plate appearances with the Crew, Vaughn has 18 hits, including five home runs and four doubles. He's added 21 RBIs, 10 runs scored and seven walks and strikeouts.

In his first 48 games and 193 plate appearances with the White Sox, Vaughn hit .189 and got on base at a .218 clip. He had eight doubles and five home runs among 35 total hits, while also posting 19 RBIs, nine runs scored, seven walks and 43 strikeouts.

Vaughn is a career .250 hitter now, and gets on base at a .306 clip, so he was always due for some improvement. Playing for a contending team has re-energized him, and Vaughn is taking advantage of an opportunity as Rhys Hoskins is out injured.

He won't stay as hot as he's been at the start of his Brewers' tenure, but he's absolutely worth rostering in some fantasy leagues right now. His own percentage says he's a deep-league option, but I'd be willing to add him in standard leagues too if I was lacking at first base. He's one of the hottest hitters in the league, so simply streaming him until he cools off makes sense too.

The only downside is that he's not starting every single game. That could change with how hot he's been at the plate, but until he is playing daily, he's maybe a better deep-league asset. He could still be streamed in standard leagues - just add and drop him as he's in/out of the lineup.

I didn't think Vaughn would ever become a standard leaguer with the Brewers, but this is why you can't ever write anyone off. His career has been given a jolt, and he's a legit fantasy asset again.

Should You Add Marcell Ozuna?

Ozuna is slightly trending back up after being on a downward trend for several weeks. He's at 75% now after falling as low as 72%.

How quickly things can change… Ozuna was part of my drop story just two days ago. Now he's back on the rise again.

He homered, walked twice and drove in two runs in Monday's game, then homered among his two hits, drove in three and walked once on Tuesday. It's easy to see why he's on the rise.

Ozuna is capable of being a top-end fantasy hitter, but has underwhelmed most of the season. He has a .236 average and .364 OBP, with his average way below his .270 career mark. Ozuna hit .302 and got on base at a .378 clip last season, so it's been a drastic falloff.

Ozuna has 79 total hits on the year, including 15 home runs and 11 doubles. He also has 47 RBIs, 39 runs scored, 68 walks and 92 strikeouts.

Something else working against him is that he might only be eligible to be a utility hitter for you, unless your league has a designated hitter spot. He hasn't performed well enough to take that utility spot most of the season, and he's probably overvalued still.

He appears to be heating up a bit, so I'm fine giving him a roster spot in a standard league, especially if you are looking for a jolt and are pretty set at most positions. Ozuna can be a difference maker, and could help lead your fantasy team down the stretch if he does catch fire.

If you aren't ready to add him today, be ready to pounce in the next couple days if his bat stays hot. It won't take long for fantasy owners to add him back in standard leagues.

Should You Add Will Warren?

Warren has been added in 4.5% of leagues, bringing his overall mark up to 42.69%.

Warren will start against the Rays in a night game on Wednesday, so he's another streaming option. He's made two previous starts against Tampa Bay, but both were early in the season.

He allowed a run on four hits and two walks over 1 2/3 innings back on April 17. Warren then surrendered five runs (three earned) on seven hits and three walks over 4 2/3 innings on May 4. He struck out one in the first outing and eight in the next.

Warren has improved since those outings, but is still prone to the blowup outing. So far across five July starts, he's allowed eight runs and five runs in two different outings. Warren allowed two runs on two occasions and also had a scoreless appearance thrown in.

He has made 22 starts this season, and sits with a 4.82 earned run average over 104 2/3 innings. Warren is 6-5 and has 124 strikeouts and has walked 50 batters. He's allowed 58 runs (56 earned) and 101 hits.

Warren has been up and down as a starter, and that makes a riskier streaming option. I'd be OK streaming him in any league, but prefer to only start him in deeper leagues. There's better streaming options to try out in standard leagues that offer safer fantasy floors.

Should You Add Chris Paddack?

Paddack is sitting at 18.58% after a 3.62% increase.

He's another streaming option today. Paddack will make his first start for the Tigers, working against the Diamondbacks in an afternoon tilt. Paddack did not make a start against Arizona while with Minnesota.

Paddack is 3-9 on the season, and sits with a 4.95 ERA over 111 innings. He's allowed 65 runs (61 earned) on 115 hits and 27 walks, while also striking out 83 batters.

I don't love the idea of streaming against the D-Backs, but after some trades (and other hitters likely sitting out today to avoid injuries), Paddack will have a pretty solid matchup.

I again only like the idea of streaming him in deeper leagues though. He's too risky of an option to try in standard leagues, and there's better options out there.

Should You Add Brayan Bello?

Bello is up 2.37% and is rostered in 67.19% of leagues.

Bello will make a start against Paddack's old team, the Twins. The game is another afternoon contest. He's faced Minnesota once this season, allowing a run on four hits and a walk over 6 2/3 innings back on May 2 - Bello struck out five in that outing.

He is 6-5 with a 3.32 ERA over 17 starts and 18 appearances this season. Bello has allowed 43 runs (38 earned) on 95 hits and 37 walks, while also striking out 79 batters. He's worked 103 innings.

While his strikeout numbers are down from past seasons, Bello's ERA has greatly improved, and that makes him a good fantasy asset. You can see that by his own percentage.

Bello is a great deep-league starting option today, and he's really close to being a must-start in those leagues. I also like the idea of streaming Bello in standard leagues today, and would say he's one of the better options. I like him more than Paddack or Warren, and any of the five streaming options listed in Wednesday's story.
