Cade Smith and Coby Mayo Among Tuesday's Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Targets

Looking at a few waiver wire pitchers and hitters to consider adding in fantasy baseball leagues.

Tuesday is here, so it's time for our second waiver wire story of the week.

We won't include anyone who appeared in Monday's waiver article or who showed up in Tuesday's streaming article.

Check out the top fantasy baseball waiver wire options everyday on FantasySP.

Should You Add Cade Smith?

Smith is on the rise after closer Emmanuel Clase was put on the non-disciplinary paid leave list as the MLB investigates possible sports betting.

Smith had been the team's primary setup man this season, so it makes sense to add Smith now. He's up 7.39% and sits at 59.02% overall.

His run as the team's closer got off to a rough start. Smith got the ball in the ninth with the lead on Monday and ended up giving up four runs, although just one was earned. He took the loss after blowing the save. Smith ended up giving up two hits, and got just one out while facing five batters.

Smith has worked 45 innings this season, and he has a 3.20 earned run average. He's now 2-4 with 19 holds, three blown saves and three saves. Smith has 65 strikeouts and just 17 walks against him.

It wasn't a great start to claiming the closer role for Smith, but I'm not going to give up on him after one outing, and I don't think the team will either.

However, I wouldn't add him in too many more leagues until we know Smith is going to be getting the save chances every time out. If things turn to a committee, then Smith is just a deep-league asset.

Keep an eye on the team's closer situation on a daily basis.

Should You Add Patrick Corbin?

Corbin is up to 36.99% after a 4.47% increase so far.

Corbin is another streaming option on Tuesday. He'll take on the Angels, which is a pretty favorable matchup on paper.

He's faced LA two times this season. Back on April 16, Corbin earned a win after allowing a run on five hits and a walk over 5 1/3 innings, while striking out six batters. He earned another win on July 10 after giving up two runs on seven hits and two walks, while striking out six.

Corbin has been pretty good overall this season and sits with a 3.78 ERA over 104 2/3 innings. He's 6-7 and has 87 strikeouts and 29 walks along the way.

He has allowed two or less runs in all four of his July starts so far, and has struck out at least six in three of those contests. He's worked at least five innings as well, but has topped out at six frames.

Corbin might not have the highest fantasy ceiling tonight, but he's a pretty solid option. Already having two above-average starts against this team is a plus for him, and with how he's pitched of late, I like Corbin a good amount tonight.

He's at least a deep-league streaming option, and I think he could also start in a few standard leagues if you don't like some of the other streaming options.

Should You Add Coby Mayo?

Mayo is up to 7% rostered, which is a couple percent up from where he sat on Sunday.

He had three hits, including a homer, on Monday, and has six hits over a four-game hitting streak. He has seven hits over the past six games, with another homer and two doubles among the knocks. Mayo has five RBIs and runs scored, four walks and no strikeouts in that span.

Mayo has just 107 plate appearances over 34 games played this season. He has a .240 average and a .318 on-base percentage so far. Mayo has seven doubles and three homers among his 23 total knocks, along with 14 RBIs, 13 runs scored, 10 walks and 22 strikeouts - he's also stolen a base.

Mayo might not have great season numbers, but he's definitely trending up of late. It's worth seeing what positions he's eligible at, as he's played first and third base, while also serving as the team's designated hitter a handful of times.

He's hit near the bottom of the order of late, but that could change if the Orioles sell off a couple hitters at the trade deadline. Trades would also help Mayo get in the lineup more down the stretch, so I like his fantasy outlook moving forward.

Pretty much every fantasy owner reading this has a chance to add Mayo now. He's not a must-add waiver hitter, but in some deeper setups, he's worth an add. If you are interested in adding him, you can beat the crowd by scooping him up today.

I think Mayo will top out as a deep-league option, but he's worth tracking in case he stays hot for a couple weeks and becomes a standard league option.

Should You Add Colson Montgomery?

Montgomery is owned in 25% of leagues - he was at 21.9% just two days ago.

He continues to deliver at the plate in his first taste of the big leagues. Montgomery had a homer among two hits on Monday, and he's racked up 18 hits over his first 66 at-bats for a .273 average. He has a .333 OBP over 73 plate appearances.

Montgomery has four homers, two doubles and a triple among his 18 hits. He's drove in 16 runs, scored eight runs, walked six times, struck out on 18 occasions and failed to steal a base.

He strikes out a bit too much, but his overall hitting numbers so far are really good. Montgomery is still hitting in the bottom half of the lineup, but is playing daily at least. His fantasy outlook is a bit hindered because of where he's hitting and what lineup he's in, but he's still producing enough to have fantasy relevance.

Montgomery should be eligible at shortstop and third base in time (if he isn't already), which is a plus in his favor. He could also move up the lineup with more good results at the plate.

Montgomery is starting to get a little fantasy love, but I still think he's worth owning in more leagues. He's a highly-regarded prospect and could keep these numbers up the rest of the season.

He's not only a good dynasty/keeper option, but is becoming a good daily option for deep-league fantasy owners, and could work into standard leagues one day as well.

Should You Add Ramon Laureano?

Laureano is at 35% rostered - he's slowly trickled up over the past few weeks.

He had a homer among his two hits on Monday. Laureano has four hits over his past three games, and nine hits over his past eight contests. He has four homers and a double among the hits, along with 10 RBIs, five runs scored, a walk and five strikeouts.

Laureano has a .279 average and .341 OBP over 79 games and 279 plate appearances on the season. He has 17 doubles and 15 homers among his 70 total hits, along with 46 RBIs, 40 runs scored, 21 walks, four stolen bases and 70 strikeouts.

Laureano seems to be a waiver wire option every week or so, but his own percentage isn't all that high. He's a bit underrated, but also isn't doing enough to own in standard leagues.

There's also plenty of fantasy outfielders to go around, so his own percentage is lower because of that. He's moved toward the top half of the order more often than not of late, and could remain there for the rest of the season.

There's a chance he gets moved at the deadline, and although he'd likely move to the bottom of a contender's order, hitting in a better offense would boost his fantasy outlook.

For everything I have said, I'd give Laureano a few more adds in deeper leagues. I think that's where he'll top out, but you just never know. At least utilize Laureano while he's going well at the plate.
