Leevi Merilainen | Fantasy Outlook
Merilainen projected in backup role as Canucks visit Anaheim
Leevi Merilainen and the Canucks travel to Honda Center tonight for a Pacific Division matchup against the Anaheim Ducks. With no fresh news updates over the past week, Merilainen remains settled in Vancouver’s backup role behind regular starter Kevin Lankinen while Thatcher Demko continues his recovery on injured reserve. The 24-year-old netminder has endured a difficult recent stretch, posting a 3.75 GAA and a .903 save percentage without a win across his last four appearances. Vancouver enters tonight struggling at 2-10-1, positioning them as road underdogs in what our matchup context grades as a higher-scoring environment.
Our daily projection does not anticipate Merilainen taking the crease tonight, keeping his win chance off the table alongside zero projected saves and zero fantasy points behind regular starter Kevin Lankinen. Looking at the weekly horizon, Vancouver has three total games scheduled, where our models project roughly 53 saves, a 1.90 GAA, and 5.4 fantasy points if he picks up a spot start later during the week. With no starting assignment expected in Anaheim, he belongs firmly in reserve. Today’s action: Bench.
