There's some movement with MLB prospects again, so let's do a fantasy baseball dive on a few players for Tuesday, June 3.

We'll check in on Ronny Mauricio, Jac Caglianone, Matthew Lugo and Sam Aldegheri.

Mets Promoting Mauricio

Mauricio is being called up to the big leagues for his first regular season action since 2023.

He got in 26 games and 108 plate appearances that year, hitting .248 and getting on base at a .396 clip. Mauricio had 25 total hits, including four doubles and two homers. He had nine RBIs, seven stolen bases, 11 runs scored, seven walks and 31 strikeouts.

Mauricio missed all of 2024 with a torn ACL. He's played in 19 minor league games this season, with five each at Single-A and Double-A and then nine contests at Triple-A.

In his minor league games this season, Mauricio has a .323 average and .384 on-base percentage. He has 21 hits, including three homers and doubles. Mauricio also has 11 RBIs, six stolen bases, 13 runs scored, seven walks and 17 strikeouts.

He clearly has nothing to prove at the minor league level, so the Mets are calling him back up to the show. Mauricio has played second and third base, while also doing some work as a designated hitter. He's also played shortstop and left field in his minor/major league career.

Luisangel Acuna leads New York with 49 appearances at second base this season. Jeff McNeil has played 18 games there, while Brett Baty has played in 17 contests.

Mark Vientos has played third base on 41 occasions for the Mets. Baty has appeared in 27 games, while Acuna has played three times there.

Starling Marte has been the team's designated hitter most often, doing so 31 times. Jesse Winker has been the DH 20 times, while Vientos has appeared there 12 times.

Vientos was injured last night, so it's possible he's going to hit the injured list. That opens a starting spot at third base for Mauricio, so there's a good chance he gets in the lineup daily for the foreseeable future. Depending on how long Vientos is out, Mauricio could become a pretty good fantasy asset.

He's a highly-regarded prospect, with the injury derailing things for him. This is a great lineup to be part of, regardless of where Mauricio hits.

Mauricio is rostered in just 7% of leagues right now. I expect that number to grow when he gets called up officially, and in the days to come.

To start, Mauricio is a deep-league fantasy asset. If you don't have room to add and start him, just stash him for a bit to see if Mauricio can turn into the big league hitter so many scouts expect him to be. He could turn into a daily starter and never relinquish his spot in the Mets' lineup.

All fantasy owners need to keep an eye on Mauricio, even though it'd likely take a week or two of really strong hitting for him to work into standard leagues.

Update on Caglianone

Caglianone will officially be added to the Royals' roster today, and he should be in the big league lineup tonight against the Cardinals.

He was the centerpiece of a prospect story I did on Sunday, and was mentioned in my Monday waiver wire article too. Caglianone is now rostered in 74% of fantasy leagues synced here at FantasySP, and he's still not yet officially been promoted to the big leagues.

His own percentage is going to rise some more when that happens, and after he makes his first start, Caglianone's own percentage will keep moving up. He could really surge up if he delivers in his first big league game.

Anyways, I bring up Caglianone again because fantasy owners are running out of time to add him. If you are interested in adding the slugging youngster (and you should be really interested), you need to add Caglianone now.

He's likely to slot into the heart of the Royals' lineup in due time. He's going to play daily and immediately be a big-time fantasy asset.

Kansas City's offense isn't super intimidating, but Caglianone could help change that. There's enough talent, especially at the top of the lineup, to give Caglianone plenty of fantasy upside.

Add Caglianone to your team before it's too late. Sure, there's a chance he fails to deliver in his first big league stint, but he could also be an elite fantasy bat, and that upside means you should at least stash him on your bench.

Angels Recall Lugo and Aldegheri

Lugo is back up in the big leagues after last appearing in a game on May 28. He got in 15 games and 40 plate appearances after being called up on May 9.

Lugo hit .231 and got on base at a .250 clip. He had three homers, a triple and two doubles among his nine total knocks. Lugo also had six RBIs, five runs scored, no walks and 15 strikeouts in his first taste of the big leagues.

He's the team's No. 13 prospect, so while he's not super highly regarded, he's also got the chance to at least be a regular starter for the Angels. Lugo is a .265 hitter with a .332 OBP in the minor leagues, and that could translate to some fantasy success eventually.

Lugo is rostered in just 1% of fantasy leagues right now. He hasn't gotten over 5% yet this season, and that's not going to change unless he's delivering at the plate.

That makes Lugo someone to keep an eye on, especially in deeper leagues. A path to playing time isn't super clear, but if he hits, he could earn more playing time in the future. He's worth tracking to see if he ever breaks out.

Aldegheri is the team's No. 5 prospect. It will be his first MLB action this season, but he made three starts in 2024.

Aldegheri went 1-2 in those starts and covered 13 innings. He allowed 15 hits, while walking and striking out 10.

His minor league numbers are much better. Across parts of five seasons, Aldegheri is 13-13 with a 3.74 earned run average over 260 innings. He has allowed a .220 average against him, while walking 120 batters and striking out 330 batters.

Aldegheri had been pitching at Double-A, making nine starts so far this season. He's 2-2 with a 4.34 ERA over 47 2/3 innings. He's expected to fill a long relief role for the Angels right now, but that doesn't mean he couldn't someday become a bigger fantasy asset.

Aldegheri only has fantasy appeal in the deepest of leagues right now. Dynasty/keeper leagues that are really deep might also see Aldegheri get picked up and utilized while he's in the big leagues.

Aldegheri has a chance to make a statement while working out of the pen. He could make a case to join the rotation eventually if he pitches well during his time in the big leagues.

It'll take several weeks of strong play, and Aldegheri sticking in the big leagues, for him to start to earn fantasy traction in any redraft leagues, but you just never know what might happen with these young players.

He might not be tearing it up in the minor leagues, but with MLB experience already under his belt, Aldegheri could take a step forward in his newest taste of the big leagues.
