A new week of fantasy baseball is here, so let's dive into our first waiver wire stories of the week.

We'll begin with fantasy hitters, then cover pitchers in another article.

Check out the top fantasy baseball waiver wire options everyday on FantasySP.

Should You Add Jac Caglianone?

We'll briefly go over Caglianone to get this story started. He's rostered in 48.81% of leagues at the time of publication. Caglianone was the centerpiece of a three-prospect fantasy outlook story I did on Sunday night, which is why I won't spend more time on him.

He's getting called up by the Royals after being drafted in last summer's MLB draft. Caglianone struggled in his minor league action in 2024, but he's been red hot in stops in Double-A and Triple-A this season.

Caglianone should be in the lineup daily while he's in the big leagues, and there's a chance he hits in the heart of the lineup right away. He has big-time power, but has the chance to deliver a good average and on-base percentage along with the power.

I think Caglianone deserves to be added in all deeper redraft leagues immediately, while being added in a good amount of standard redraft leagues now too. If you don't have the room to start him, or don't trust young players without positive results, then at least stash Caglianone for a week or so.

He could be an elite fantasy player, and one who helps your team to greatness. I wouldn't want to miss out on that possibility, so I'd add Caglianone in all leagues right now.

Should You Add Max Muncy?

Muncy is rostered in 38.99% of leagues after a 7.34% increase today.

It's been a pretty rough season for Muncy, but he tallied five hits over his past two appearances. He had three homers, eight RBIs and four runs scored over his past two games.

I had high hopes for Muncy going into the season, and thought he could be a fantasy sleeper. He's got a .227 average and .346 OBP across 55 games and 214 plate appearances so far. Muncy has 40 total hits (seven homers, eight doubles, one triple), along with 32 RBIs, two stolen bases, 17 runs scored, 31 walks and 51 strikeouts.

Things haven't come together consistently for Muncy, but maybe he's on the verge of breaking out after his past two contests. Anyone starting regularly for the Dodgers has the chance to be a big fantasy asset, and that's especially true for a slugger like Muncy.

Muncy isn't starting against lefties, but he's still a good fantasy option when going well at the plate and facing a string of righties. He's worth owning in deeper redraft leagues when that's the case, so I'm all for adding Muncy now.

He's also worth streaming in standard redraft leagues when he's hot at the plate and has a string of right-handed pitchers coming up against him. The Mets will start righties on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, so now could be one of those streaming opportunities.

Should You Add TJ Friedl?

Friedl was added in 2.73% of leagues and is now rostered in 75.6% overall.

He didn't collect a hit on Sunday, but had 21 knocks over his past 11 games and 52 plate appearances in May. Friedl had a homer, triple and three doubles among the hits, along with three RBIs, a stolen base, 10 runs scored, five walks and six strikeouts.

This season, Friedl has a .300 average and .382 OBP over 56 games and 250 plate appearances. He's got 10 doubles, four homers and two triples among his 65 total knocks, along with 20 RBIs, nine stolen bases, 34 runs scored, 28 walks and 41 strikeouts.

He hits leadoff for the Reds and is playing every game. Friedl doesn't have a ton of power, but his high average and OBP makes him a really good fantasy asset anyways.

I think he's still severely undervalued as a fantasy player. He's a top-50 fantasy hitter overall and sits 16th among fantasy outfielders on the season.

That means he should be not only rostered in all leagues, but starting daily in them. Pick him up and at least utilize Friedl until he cools off. He's likely outperforming an outfielder or two of yours, and he'd be a good boost to your team on a daily/weekly basis for now.

Friedl should remain a good deep-league asset all season as well, so he needs to be rostered in all deeper setups already.

Should You Add Addison Barger?

Barger is up 5.47% today and sits at 19.57% overall.

Barger has been a sneaky good fantasy asset for chunks of this season, and is trending up now. He has nine hits over his past seven games. Barger has three homers and two doubles among those hits, along with six RBIs and runs scored and three walks and strikeouts over that span.

Across 38 games and 132 plate appearances this season, Barger has a .267 average and .333 OBP. He's got five homers and 11 doubles among his 32 total knocks. Barger has posted 17 RBIs, a stolen base, 15 runs scored, 11 walks and 27 strikeouts as well.

Barger has split time between third base and right field this season and last, so he's likely eligible to start at both spots, and maybe left field too after appearing there 10 times last season.

He's in a power surge now with three homers over his past three games, but typically doesn't hit for much power. Barger is worth adding in a few more deeper redraft leagues in case he's able to keep the power surge going though.

Barger would need a couple weeks of this good hitting and power to get into standard league conversations, but he's at least worth tracking. I like the idea of adding him in some deeper leagues for the time being though, even if it's just for a short-term stint.

Should You Add Jose Caballero?

Caballero is rostered in 40.48% of leagues after a 5.28% increase today.

He went hitless on Sunday, but had a five-game hitting streak before that. Caballero had a homer and three doubles among his seven total hits in that span. He also had six RBIs, four stolen bases, six runs scored, two walks and five strikeouts over that timeframe.

Caballero has played in 48 games and gotten 157 plate appearances so far this season. He has a .252 average and .331 OBP, along with 20 RBIs, 19 stolen bases, 19 runs scored, 16 walks and 44 strikeouts. Caballero has 11 doubles, a triple and two homers over his 35 total hits.

The stolen base total sticks out with Caballero, but the higher OBP is also appealing. Something else working in his favor is that he plays all over the field, so he could be eligible to play at several spots. Over this year and last, he's appeared at second and third base, shortstop and all three outfield spots.

He's going pretty well at the plate right now, and with that added position versatility, I like the idea of rostering and utilizing him in deeper redraft leagues. Caballero is an under-the-radar pickup in categories leagues for his stolen base upside.

I don't think he's going to be worth rostering in standard redraft leagues for long stretches, but he could be useful for short stints as a streamer.

Should You Add Ernie Clement?

Clement is up 3.59% and sits at 16.09% overall.

He is on a six-game hitting streak and has posted 13 hits over that span. Clement has two homers and four doubles among the hits, along with six RBIs and runs scored, no walks and three punchouts.

He's played in 57 games and gotten 189 plate appearances so far this season. Clement has a .283 average and .323 OBP, along with 17 RBIs, two stolen bases, 21 runs scored, 10 walks and 25 strikeouts. He has 11 doubles and three home runs among his 49 total hits.

Clement is a lot like Caballero in that he plays all over the field. Clement has appeared at first, second and third base and shortstop this season, while playing left and right field at times in past seasons. It's worth seeing what positions he's eligible at.

He's not a huge power guy, but he plays enough and has a pretty good OBP and average to consider in more deeper redraft leagues. I think that is his ceiling, but in really hot stretches, he could maybe be a standard league streamer. I do think he's a bit undervalued and is worth adding and utilizing in some deeper leagues, at least for a little bit.
