Monday Night Fantasy Football Start Decisions and Rankings: Romeo Doubs, Dallas Goedert, A.J. Brown and More
Breaking down the week 10 Monday night game between the Packers and Eagles and ranking every offensive fantasy option.
The 10th week of the NFL regular season ends with a fun matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles.
Let's go over the best fantasy football players from the contest and offer up rankings for everyone.
Use the FantasySP start/sit tool for help with any last-minute lineup decisions.
Quarterbacks
Jordan Love will lead the Packers, while Jalen Hurts guides the Eagles in this one.
Hurts has been the better fantasy player so far, averaging over four fantasy points more per game so far. He has the tougher matchup against the Packers' defense tonight - Love's matchup is average.
Hurts was my No. 3 fantasy QB at the start of the week, while Love was 13th. Fantasy owners with both QBs are starting Hurts 86% of the time, while Love is only starting 3% of the time.
Hurts should start over Love tonight, but Love isn't a bad option in DFS lineups - check back in a bit, as I plan to put together a DFS lineup for Monday's game.
Running Backs
Green Bay's Josh Jacobs and Philadelphia's Saquon Barkley were each on the injury report this week, but both are cleared for the Monday night battle.
Jacobs has been the better fantasy asset so far, averaging three PPR points per game more than Barkley. Jacobs also has the better matchup, and it's an above-average one on paper. Barkley has a bit tougher test, but the Packers' defense has been shaky of late.
I had Jacobs ranked sixth among running backs for week 10. Barkley was No. 11 for me.
If fantasy owners had both backs, both were started 89% of the time. That's the way things should be. Jacobs was favored over Barkley, but again, fantasy owners are starting both guys almost every time.
I expect both running backs to have good fantasy showings tonight, but believe Jacobs will outscore Barkley because of his better matchup, and the nature of each offense right now.
Tank Bigsby was the Eagles' top backup the last time the team played in week 8. Barkley got injured in that contest, but he's cleared and ready to go, so I don't expect much out of Bigsby, or Will Shipley or A.J. Dillon for that matter.
Emanuel Wilson has been the Packers' top backup for the course of the season. He has seven or more touches in three straight games, while Chris Brooks has only factored in here and there.
So between the backup running backs, I'd take Wilson at the top, followed by Bigsby. After that, I'd rank them as follows: Brooks, Shipley and Dillon.
Barkley and Jacobs are the only backs I'd want to start in a standard league. Wilson and Bigsby are deep-league options only, and I'd only really consider Wilson, and that's if you are desperate for RB help. Everyone else I would avoid.
Wide Receivers
The Packers are hurting at wide receiver. They are still without Jayden Reed, and now down tight end Tucker Kraft, there's a need for other pass catchers to step up.
Matthew Golden, Dontayvion Wicks and Savion Williams are all questionable for the Monday night game, so their statuses will be worth watching.
Romeo Doubs is the top fantasy wideout in Green Bay so far this season. Golden is a distant second. Christian Watson, Wicks, Williams and Malik Heath have helped out, but have all been below-average fantasy assets.
No Eagles' wideout is in danger of missing the Monday night game. A.J. Brown was on the injury report, but practiced in full all week.
DeVonta Smith and Brown lead the Eagles' fantasy wideouts, with Jahan Dotson in a distant third. Nobody else is even worth mentioning, and really Smith and Brown are the only viable fantasy options.
The matchup is almost identical for these team's wide receivers, so everyone is on an even playing field.
In my weekly rankings, I had Brown ranked 11th, while Smith was 14th. The only Packer in my top 30 was Doubs, and he ranked 24th.
There's quite a few trending decisions involving wide receivers from this game.
Brown is preferred over Doubs, while Doubs is the clear favorite over Golden. In another teammate battle, Doubs is also preferred over Watson tonight.
In a decision between Doubs and Smith, Smith is preferred. In a bit of a surprise, Smith is preferred over Brown, but most fantasy owners are starting both guys.
After Brown, Smith and Doubs, I'd rank tonight's wideouts as follows: Watson, Golden, Williams, Dotson and Heath.
Brown and Smith are both locked-in standard league starters to me. Doubs was more a flex-level option. Watson and Golden are solid deep-league options in my eyes, while Williams, Dotson and Health should be avoided outside the deepest of leagues.
Tight Ends
Dallas Goedert is the only Philadelphia tight end that's factored in all season. Luke Musgrave looks like the best option to replace Kraft in Green Bay, although I wouldn't count out John FitzPatrick either.
This matchup is more favorable for Goedert, as Green Bay is a below-average defense when it comes to slowing opposing fantasy tight ends. Philly's defense is elite at it, so the Packers' tight ends have a brutal test ahead without Kraft.
Goedert was my No. 7 ranked tight end for week 10. I gave Musgrave a shoutout, but he ranked 22nd.
There should be no debate about the best fantasy tight end in this game - it's Goedert. He's preferred over Musgrave by a wide margin.
Goedert is the only tight end I'd want to start in a standard league. Musgrave is an OK deep-league starting option, but I don't expect a ton out of him in this tough matchup. FitzPatrick is one to avoid outside super deep fantasy leagues, and again, I'd avoid him because of the matchup tonight.
Kickers
Brandon McManus will kick again for the Packers. He was on the injury report, but has been practicing in full and has played the last couple games. Jake Elliott still does the kicking for the Eagles.
McManus is just 11-of-16 on his field goal attempts so far, while making 15 of his 16 extra points.
Elliott is 7-of-9 on his field goals and is perfect on his 25 extra point attempts.
Elliott looks like the better fantasy option, and is projected for seven points. McManus is projected for seven points as well though. Elliott is rostered in 37% of leagues, while McManus is at 32%.
It's really a toss up on who to take tonight. McManus gets more scoring chances, especially on field goals, but Elliott is the more trustworthy option right now. If I had to pick between the two, I'd go with McManus.
Defenses/Special Teams
The Packers' defense has allowed 20.8 points per game so far this season. They've allowed 330 or less yards in three straight games, but only have five takeaways on the season. Green Bay has 22 sacks though.
The Eagles' defense gives up 23.1 points per game so far. They have allowed 356 or more yards in all but three games. Philly has seven takeaways and 16 sacks on the year.
The Eagles DST has been the better fantasy option (using ESPN's scoring), with the Packers DST a point behind. The Green Bay DST is projected for seven points though, while Philly sits at six projected points.
The Packers DST is owned in 59% of leagues, while the Eagles DST is at 52%. Again, it looks like another toss up.
I think I'd prefer the Eagles DST tonight, just because the Packers' offense is dealing with a multitude of injuries.
