Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Hitter and Pitcher Pickups Based on Weekly Projections

These eight waiver wire and streaming options have favorable schedules heading into the new fantasy baseball week.

As promised, let's discuss some more fantasy baseball waiver wire/streaming options. We'll use weekly projections to identify some more players.

Also be sure to check out today's starting pitcher streaming article, plus check out the waiver wire article on hitters.

Weekly fantasy baseball projections can be found on FantasySP all season! Daily projections are also available!

Hitters

Nolan Arenado - Arizona Diamondbacks

Arenado is projected for a big week across eight games. He's rostered in 45.67% of fantasy leagues right now.

He went hitless on Sunday, but had four hits over the three games before that. Arenado has a .241 average and .319 on-base percentage over 122 games and 477 plate appearances this season. The veteran third baseman has 102 total hits, 20 doubles, 21 homers, a triple, 65 RBIs, 63 runs scored, 43 walks, four stolen bases and 100 strikeouts.

Arenado is a better deep-league fantasy asset, but there's stretches where he is worth trying in standard leagues. Right now, I mostly like him in deeper leagues, but with eight games on tap, he's not a bad 3B streaming option for the coming week, so consider him at least.

Vinnie Pasquantino - Kansas City Royals

Pasquantino is owned in 61.46% of leagues as the new week begins. He's got six games scheduled for the coming week.

Pasquantino has been a bit better at the plate of late. He has a .245 average and .329 OBP over 86 contests and 365 plate appearances on the season. Pasquantino has 15 doubles, eight homers and two triples among his 78 total knocks, plus 38 RBIs, 40 runs scored, four stolen bases, 40 walks and 60 strikeouts.

The first baseman has underwhelmed most of the season, but better marks of late makes him one to try in all deeper leagues, at least. Those lacking at first base in standard leagues could also try Pasquantino while his bat is a bit hotter.

Trent Grisham - New York Yankees

Grisham could play up to seven games this week. He's currently rostered in 68.27% of leagues.

Grisham has also been a bit better at the plate of late. He's up to a .221 average and .317 OBP over 110 contests and 443 plate appearances. Grisham has 19 doubles, 18 homers, two triples, 85 total hits, 56 RBIs, 63 runs scored, 55 walks, nine stolen bases and 79 strikeouts.

The outfielder has been another fantasy draft disappointment in 2026, but he's done enough of late to own/utilize in all deeper leagues, and also a few standard leagues. Roll with him as long as he's playing and producing daily.

Tim Tawa - Arizona Diamondbacks

Tawa is only owned in 21.08% of leagues. He could play up to eight games, of course.

Tawa is a guy we covered in the waiver wire hitting article. He has six hits over his past three games, which bumps his average to .250 on the season.

He has a .302 OBP over 74 games and 238 plate appearances overall. Tawa has 10 doubles and eight home runs among his 53 total hits, plus 32 RBIs, 26 runs scored, 17 walks, seven stolen bases and 53 strikeouts.

Tawa can play all over the field too, so that bumps his fantasy value up some more. He's worth more deep-league ownership/utilization for the time being, and if he keeps rolling this week, he could sneak into some standard leagues too.

Pitchers

Jose Urquidy - Chicago White Sox

Urquidy is scheduled to start two games this coming week. He's rostered in just 5.37% of leagues.

He's set to face the Rangers and Twins. Both are pretty solid streaming targets, so it's no surprise to see him projected for a big week.

Urquidy is coming off a great outing - he worked six scoreless frames out of the bullpen, striking out eight along the way, while allowing two hits and no walks. He has a 5.06 earned run average over seven appearances and 16 innings in 2026.

He's a bit riskier fantasy option with such a limited sample size, and not much success in there, but coming off a strong outing, maybe he can keep rolling this week. Only consider him in deeper leagues.

Zebby Matthews - Minnesota Twins

Matthews is at 18.05% rostered as the week begins. He has two starts lined up as well.

Matthews has a start today against the Athletics, then is supposed to face the White Sox later in the week. The Athletics are a good streaming target, while the White Sox are a decent option.

He too is coming off a strong start - Matthews allowed a run on five hits and a walk over 5 2/3 innings in that one, while striking out four. He's 7-8 with a 5.12 ERA over 17 starts and 96 2/3 innings this season - Matthews has 81 strikeouts.

Matthews is worth some deep-league looks this week, and is even a standard league option today because there's less MLB teams in action. Don't expect excellence out of Matthews, but he could surprise and put up decent fantasy totals in both outings.

Matthew Liberatore - St. Louis Cardinals

Liberatore sits at only 14.15% rostered as he prepares for a two-start week.

He's lined up to face the Orioles and Pirates this week. Both are pretty good streaming targets, so we'll see if Liberatore can deliver for fantasy owners.

Liberatore has been in the St. Louis starting rotation all season, and he sits with a 5.04 ERA over 25 starts and 125 innings, with 125 strikeouts over that span. He's struggled of late, losing three straight starts, and giving up 10 runs over 16 1/3 innings in that stretch.

With some strikeout upside and going into solid matchups, Liberatore is a sneaky-good fantasy option this week. I'd only trust him enough to try him in deeper leagues. We'll see if he can get back on track and fare a bit better this week.

Chris Bassitt - Baltimore Orioles

Bassitt is only rostered in 5.85% of leagues right now. He too has two starts lined up for the coming week.

Bassitt gets starts against the Cardinals and Athletics this coming week. Both are solid streaming targets.

He has pitched pretty well of late, just not been consistent in the length of his outings. Bassitt is 4-4 with a 5.08 ERA over 12 starts and 14 appearances this season. He's got 46 punchouts over 67 1/3 innings, so he's underwhelming in that aspect.

I don't mind the matchups, but don't see a great upside with Bassitt this week. He's worth more deep-league utilization, but I'd stop short of trying him in any standard leagues this week.
