Edwin Arroyo - Cincinnati Reds
Arroyo is the main reason for this article. He's getting called up on Monday as Elly De La Cruz hits the injured list.
He is the No. 98 prospect in baseball, so he has a lot of hype surrounding him. Arroyo is 22 years old and was a second-round pick back in 2021.
Arroyo has a .279 average and .349 on-base percentage across parts of five minor league seasons. He has a .323 average and .383 OBP over 53 games at Triple-A this season, so the Reds are ready to give him a shot in the big leagues.
He might be filling in for De La Cruz, but the team will be playing him daily for the time being. Arroyo could be a fantasy asset right away as a result, but his long-term outlook will be determined by how much he plays in the long run.
Arroyo is a deep-league fantasy asset right away, and he's worth watching in case he takes off right away. He could be worth adding in standard leagues in due time, so be ready to make a move on him.
Gage Jump - Athletics
Jump is the No. 40 prospect in baseball. He made his MLB debut on May 26 against the Mariners.
His first MLB start lasted five innings. He took a loss after allowing four runs on nine hits and a walk. Jump struck out five batters along the way.
Jump was drafted 73rd overall in 2024, and he's just 23 years old. He posted a 3.58 earned run average across two minor league seasons and 150 2/3 innings.
Jump is just a deep-league fantasy asset until he proves more at the major league level. In time, he could become a bigger fantasy asset, but for now, just try him in some deeper leagues.
Tommy Troy - Arizona Diamondbacks
Troy isn't a top-100 prospect, but he's the No. 4 prospect for the Diamondbacks.
He got called up on May 24. Troy has played in seven big league games so far. He has five hits, including two doubles, across 19 at-bats. Troy has a .263 average and .364 OBP, plus has five runs scored, three walks and four strikeouts. He has not driven in a run yet.
Across four minor league seasons, Troy posted a .276 average and .367 OBP. The 2023 first-round pick is 24 years old and can play a few different positions, so he's got a decent chance at sticking in the big leagues.
Troy is only rostered in 7% of fantasy leagues right now. He's a better long-term option, so in dynasty/keeper leagues, but he is worth some ownership and utilization in deeper redraft leagues.
Troy is a fantasy hitter to keep tabs on in case he produces enough. He could be worth a spot in all deeper leagues and even some standard leagues in time.
Keep tabs on Troy, but his long-term outlook will be determined by if he sticks in the big leagues and keeps playing daily. Keep watch over him, and be hoping he sticks around for the long haul.
Pedro Ramirez - Chicago Cubs
Ramirez is the No. 84 prospect in all of baseball. The 22-year-old was signed by the Cubs in 2021.
He got called up to the big leagues on May 23. Ramirez has played in four games since, collecting two hits, including a double. He has an RBI, run scored, one walk and no strikeouts. Ramirez has a .286 average and .375 OBP.
Across parts of six minor league seasons, Ramirez had a .293 average and .365 OBP. He has some hype surrounding him, but hasn't been given too many chances to show off his skill yet.
The Cubs need some offensive help, but if he's not in the lineup daily, he's not going to be a big fantasy asset right now. Ramirez has a good long-term outlook, so the real upside with him lies in his dynasty/keeper value.
He's one to watch for the long haul, but for now, his fantasy value is pretty low. Ramirez sits at 4% rostered at this moment.
Keep tabs on Ramirez, but don't expect anything too crazy from Ramirez unless his playing time and production picks up.
