Fantasy Baseball Buy-Low Trade Targets After Recent Slumps

Identifying fantasy baseball hitters and pitchers who are slumping—and could be cheap trade targets right now.

We just went over some fantasy baseball sell-high candidates, and now are going to go over some buy-low candidates.

These are hitters and pitchers who have struggled of late. Let's get right to it!

Use the FantasySP trade value chart and trade analyzer as you propose and accept fantasy baseball trades all season!

Hitters Trending Down

Matt Chapman and Willy Adames - San Francisco Giants

Chapman has just a .071 average and .161 on-base percentage over the past seven games. He has just a .164 average and .292 OBP over his past 15 games.

Chapman has been so-so this season, but has underperformed overall. He is a big name, and that's keeping him rostered in more leagues than he should be.

If you still believe in Chapman, or simply believe he will bounce back in time, then now is a great time to buy low on him. It shouldn't cost you much, as he's being dropped in fantasy leagues now.

Adames is another Giant who is being dropped in fantasy leagues. He's only at 69% rostered right now.

Adames has a .185 average and .214 OBP over the past seven games, and he's at a lower .111 average and .125 OBP over the past 15 games.

He's not been good this season, and really probably shouldn't be in any standard leagues anymore. Adames still is a big enough name to flip him in deeper leagues, and his struggles make him very acquirable in those leagues as well.

Zach Neto - Los Angeles Angels

Neto is down to 92% rostered right now. He has been over 90% this season, but hasn't been able to get to 100%.

Neto has a .111 average and .200 OBP over the past seven games. He has a .169 average and .269 OBP over 15 games, so he's struggled for a while now.

Neto's season-long numbers don't look great after this recent rough stretch. I believe in him bouncing back and being better in the future, so it's a good time to buy low on Neto. See if you can land the Angels' shortstop for cheap, as some owners are looking to part with him.

Austin Riley - Atlanta Braves

Riley has a .143 average and .210 OBP over his past 15 games. His season-long numbers are really poor as well, even after some better results in the past seven contests.

Riley is still a big enough name to get some good value off him in a trade. It's also a good time to buy low on Riley, so he'll be a popular trade option over the next several days.

Riley won't perform this poorly all season, so I like the idea of acquiring him in some fantasy leagues. Don't bank on him coming back as a high-end player, but at least hope for a daily fantasy asset you can deploy.

Jose Altuve - Houston Astros

Altuve has struggled over the past seven games, and the numbers aren't much better over 15 games. He has a .175 average and .212 OBP in that 15-game stretch.

Altuve started the season really well, but he's cooled off significantly since. He was a sell-high candidate a couple weeks ago, and now is a buy-low guy.

Altuve should perform somewhere in the middle of these two stretches over the course of the season. That makes now a time to buy low on the veteran, as better days are ahead.

Pitchers Trending Down

Luis Castillo - Seattle Mariners

Castillo has been trending down for a while. He's sitting at just 77% rostered right now.

For the season, Castillo has a 6.29 earned run average over seven starts and 34 1/3 innings. He's struck out 31 batters along the way. Castillo is 0-3.

Castillo has been a good pitcher over his career, and better days should be ahead. Right now though, he's tough to trust in any leagues. Castillo is an intriguing buy-low trade option, especially because it shouldn't cost very much - only do it in deeper leagues though.

Michael Wacha - Kansas City Royals

Wacha was over 90% rostered earlier this season. He's down to 81% owned right now.

He looked pretty solid in his last start, but struggled in the two before that. Wacha allowed 10 runs over 10 1/3 innings in the two bad starts, before giving up two runs over seven innings a couple nights ago.

Wacha was due for some regression, and more is probably coming. Maybe that means he's a sell-high candidate, especially after his last start. I more look at him as a buy-low guy for those reasons though, so see what his asking price is, because the veteran can be a good fantasy asset at times.

Sandy Alcantara - Miami Marlins

Alcantara is coming off a start in which he allowed seven runs over 4 1/3 innings. He had another seven-run outing earlier this season, but allowed three or less runs in every other outing.

He has a 4.01 ERA over eight starts overall. Alcantara has 36 strikeouts so far. He is 3-2.

Alcantara was a sell-high candidate earlier this season, but now is a buy-low candidate after a blowup outing. See what the cost would be for the veteran, as better games are ahead for him.
