Fantasy Baseball SP Streamer Rankings: Grant Holmes and Joe Boyle Top Wednesday's Options
Five starting pitchers with good matchups on Wednesday who are widely available in fantasy leagues.
Injuries are a reality in all sports, but it seems like only a matter of time before pitchers start going down each season. Numbers show that the most pitcher injuries occur in April and May, so we are in prime time as far as losing hurlers for extended stretches.
It's tempting to think that this happens because guys aren't prepared to start the season, but the theory that makes the most sense to me is that when pitchers feel something isn't right at the end of the year, they just power through, thinking it will heal itself in the offseason. When they come back, the issue is still lingering, and the pitchers in question finally have to shut down when they stretch things out and have the same problems.
More injuries give us more streaming options, so let's look at five starting pitchers in action on Wednesday who have good matchups and are widely available in fantasy leagues. Most stats are from MLB.com, as are the probable pitchers. The full streamer rankings are listed at the bottom.

Joe Boyle, Tampa Bay Rays vs. Chicago Cubs
Boyle has been an early friend of the column here, showing up before each of his first two starts against the Cardinals and Twins, early target teams. He has been good so far, combining for 11 1/3 innings with seven hits, five runs (four earned), three walks, and 13 strikeouts. He has done strong K work his entire career, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see that continue.
The Cubs were thought to be a strong offensive team entering the season, but that just hasn't been the case so far. They top out as middling in any area, and while it's early, there is real worry in Chicago, particularly with two pitchers already hitting the IL (though that doesn't affect their offense). We won't target the Cubs often, but we can look at them today given the pitcher.
Boyle is a low-to-mid-level streamer. Boyle's success so far, especially with strikeouts, gives him plenty of intrigue, and Chicago's sluggish start makes him a feasible option here.
Sean Burke, Chicago White Sox vs. Baltimore Orioles
Baltimore struggled hard last season, and they have been average at best this year, falling short in many areas. They have scored just 10 runs over their past four games and six runs in the two games against the White Sox (though the Orioles won both, as Chicago has scored just three runs in those two contests). We'll keep targeting Baltimore until we see them excel.
Burke walks a few too many guys, but he has been an above-average strikeout pitcher in 163 1/3 innings while also doing well limiting hits. He has found success in his first two starts this season, throwing 10 innings with 11 hits, five runs (four earned), 12 strikeouts, and just one walk. If he keeps up that improved control, Burke will set himself up for success often.
Burke is a low-to-mid-level streamer. I like his strikeout work while holding a little reservation due to his shaky control and lack of track record; there's definite intrigue.
Grant Holmes, Atlanta Braves @ Los Angeles Angels
Holmes is similar to Burke in that he has good numbers and a strong strikeout rate while walking too many batters. His 2026 has also been strong so far, with 11 innings, six hits, three runs, five walks, and eight strikeouts over two starts. Holmes also has only allowed a home run every 8.1 innings in his career, a better-than-average rate.
The Angels finally showed some fight yesterday, but it was the wrong kind of fight. (Also: that ball wasn't even close to hitting Soler.) Los Angeles has shown some power but has also struck out 12 more times than any other team. We love pitchers with big K numbers and teams that swing and miss a lot, so the Angels fit our type.
Holmes is a mid-level streamer. He's not much higher than the previous two pitchers, but given LA's trouble making contact, there's a big ceiling here to go with a nice floor.
Cristian Javier, Houston Astros @ Colorado Rockies
While Coors Field often drives us away from streamers, the Rockies have regularly been bad at home in this short season, leaving Colorado as a strong target no matter where they play. The Rockies are another team that isn't better than middling in any area, and they have drawn the fewest walks while striking out at a top-five rate.
Javier was a high-level pitcher before missing most of 2024 and 2025 due to Tommy John surgery. He struggled a bit in his return last season, which is to be expected, but he has continued faltering through his first two starts this year. Javier has combined for 8 1/3 innings with 10 hits, 12 runs, nine walks, and just three strikeouts. He could easily bounce back eventually, but it's tough to trust him for much right now.
Javier is a low-level streamer. I'm still intrigued based on his previous work, but there's no way to expect a great outing based on 2026's numbers. The game taking place in Colorado brings him down a little more.
Miles Mikolas, Washington Nationals vs. St. Louis Cardinals
Mikolas played three years in Japan and missed all 2020 with injury, so it's easy to miss the fact that he will turn 38 in August. He is fantastic at limiting walks but has also been a below-average strikeout pitcher his entire career. Mikolas has had a brutal start to 2026, taking the loss in each of his first two starts while allowing 17 hits, 17 runs (15 earned), and five home runs.
St. Louis is one of many teams that struggled last season and is middling so far this year. Not many squads really stand out as bottom-level across the board; that will come as we get more games and teams can be separated further. For the time being, the Cardinals are simply a team I'm not scared of.
Mikolas is a low-level streamer. His lack of strikeouts along with his horrendous numbers so far make him untenable as a fantasy option until we see something much better.
