Rather than the summer equinox (June 20), summer really starts around Memorial Day and the beginning of June. Especially with most schools being done for the year by now, it feels like summer is in full swing, and that means baseball is at the forefront of everything, especially when the NBA Finals and Stanley Cup both end within the next few weeks.

With fantasy baseball on the mind, let's look at five starting pitchers in action on Sunday who are widely available in fantasy leagues and have good matchups. Most stats are from MLB.com, as are the probable starters. The full streamer rankings are listed at the bottom.

Bowden Francis, Toronto Blue Jays @ Minnesota Twins

For his career, Francis is very good with walks and an average strikeout pitcher. That latter number is down this year, as Francis has struck out just 19% of the batters he has faced (versus league average and his career rate both around 22%). He has also given up 39 earned runs in 57 innings (6.16 ERA), making him a riskier fantasy pitcher.

Minnesota is more of a fringe target team. They rank between 15th-25th in essentially every offensive box stat, a below-average offense but not a bottom unit like most of the teams that end up on this list. They are lowly enough to go after in the right circumstances, like when we have a lack of other streaming options.

Francis is a low-level streamer. His work has been down a little in 2025, and if he can find more of his previous level, he will raise a notch. Minnesota is just an OK matchup, not a great one, leaving Francis with a lower floor and ceiling than I'd like from a streamer.

Michael Lorenzen, Kansas City Royals @ Chicago White Sox

Minnesota's division-mates, the White Sox, have no such fringe status. They are one of the best targets in baseball, ranking in the bottom five in essentially every offensive box stat. The Sox have called up some of their top prospects, including catchers Edgar Quero and Kyle Teel, but those players are more likely to hit big in future seasons, and the rest of the team is still a bottom unit.

Lorenzen is part of a huge group of pitchers who are slightly below average. These guys often make up the majority of our streamer list because they aren't owned in many fantasy leagues and are just guys to consider in the best matchups; that's what streaming is all about. Lorenzen is generally a little worse than average with both walks and strikeouts.

Lorenzen is a low- to mid-level streamer. The matchup is right for a nice day, but his strikeouts have suffered even more the past five seasons, and he has been hit a little hard this season (75 hits in 65 innings).

Tylor Megill, New York Mets @ Colorado Rockies

I usually don't target the Rockies when they are playing at Coors Field, but we are a little short on quality streaming options today, and Colorado has been bad enough that we can still go after them, even in a hitter's haven. Looking at only games teams have played at home, the Rockies still rank in the bottom 10 in runs, hits, home runs, walks, batting average, and on-base percentage. They rank fifth in most batter strikeouts at home and first in overall strikeouts, setting a high ceiling for opposing pitchers.

Megill is a high-level strikeout pitcher, holding a K rate several percentage points higher than league average in his career. That number has been even more inflated this year: Megill has a K% over 30%, with 79 in 59.2 innings. He walks a few too many guys, but that gets offset by his strikeout work.

Megill is a mid- to high-level streamer. I will knock him down a half-notch because this game in is Denver and not New York, but Megill is a must-start fantasy player in this one.

Brandon Walter, Houston Astros @ Cleveland Guardians

Cleveland has had the same profile for most of the season: They hit home runs at a middling rate but otherwise are a bottom-10 offensive group, struggling to find any consistency. They don't strike out a ton, but they also don't do much else that should scare opposing pitchers.

Walter threw his first 23 big-league innings in 2023 before missing all of 2024 with a rotator cuff injury. He has added just one start and five innings this season, and overall, he has been good with walks but below average with strikeouts. He was really good with Ks in the minors, so there's hope he can do better there as he gets a little time under his belt. Right now, we just don't know enough about Walter to know what to really expect.

Walter is a low- to mid-level streamer. There's a little intrigue with his strikeout upside, and the matchup is a good one, but we can't project big things right now until we see it.

Trevor Williams, Washington Nationals vs. Texas Rangers

Williams is good with walks but below average with strikeouts, another guy fitting in that large group of worthy below-average streamers. His Ks have been a little better at times, but he has never sustained a high mark there, more often falling blow the middle. It's been a bit of a rough season based on surface numbers, as Williams is 3-6 with an ERA over 6.00.

The Rangers mirror the Guardians in that they hit some home runs, but they don't do much else. They are even worse than Cleveland, sitting at a bottom-five level in most offensive stats, and they only are in the middle in homers. Texas is a team we can go after every day with pretty much any pitcher.

Williams is another low- to mid-level streamer. This is another case of the matchup being right but the pitcher having a bit of a low ceiling, capping his fantasy value.
