There were 16 MLB games played on Tuesday, April 30 because of a doubleheader, so there’s a ton of individual performances to break down.

It’s time to look at pitching from the day. We looked at the hitters first because a ton of runs were scored, which should give you an indication on how pitchers fared.

Tigers 11, Cardinals 6 (Game 1)

Matt Manning started for Detroit, allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks across 4 2/3 innings, while striking out seven. Tyler Holton got the win out of the bullpen after allowing a run in an inning.

Steven Matz started for St. Louis - he allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks across 3 1/3 innings, while striking out one. Kyle Leahy took the loss out of the bullpen.

Giovanny Gallegos surrendered four runs without getting an out, and that outing pushed his earned run average to 9.00.

Cardinals 2, Tigers 1 (Game 2)

Kyle Gibson started for St. Louis in game 2, allowing a run on four hits and two walks. He struck out nine over seven innings.

Matthew Liberatore got the win out of the pen, while Ryan Helsley struck out two of the three batters he faced in the ninth to pick up his 10th save.

Jack Flaherty started for Detroit, striking out 14 in 6 2/3 scoreless innings. He allowed two hits and one walk. Shelby Miller was charged with his second blown save and loss after allowing two ninth-inning runs.

Orioles 4, Yankees 2

Dean Kremer improved to 2-2 after pitching the first seven innings for Baltimore. He allowed two runs on four hits and four walks, while also striking out four.

Jacob Webb earned his first save for the Orioles after striking out three batters over 1 1/3 innings. Normal closer Craig Kimbrel is still banged up, and setup man Yennier Cano was likely unavailable, so save chances for Webb moving forward aren’t super likely.

Nestor Cortes started and took the loss for New York. He gave up four runs on eight hits and two walks across six innings, while striking out five. He’s got a 3.86 ERA, but a 1-3 record.

Marlins 7, Rockies 6 (10 inn.)

Sixto Sanchez started for Miami, allowing five runs on seven hits over four innings. He didn’t allow a walk and struck out three.

Tanner Scott earned his first win after allowing an unearned run in the top of the 10th inning. 

Ryan Feltner started and pitched eight innings for Colorado. He allowed three runs on five hits, while striking out three and walking none.

Justin Lawrence was charged with a blown save and his ERA moved to 7.20. Jalen Beeks took the loss after allowing two runs (one earned) in the bottom of the 10th.

Royals 4, Blue Jays 1

Cole Ragans improved to 2-2 after striking out nine across 6 2/3 innings. He gave up a run on four hits and three walks.

James McArthur worked a 1-2-3 ninth inning to pick up his seventh save.

Jose Berrios was dealt the loss after allowing two runs on five hits and a walk across seven innings. He struck out three and now has a 1.44 ERA and 4-2 record.

Red Sox 4, Giants 0

Cooper Criswell outdueled Logan Webb. Criswell got the win after working five scoreless innings. He allowed two hits and a walk, while striking out four.

Webb fell to 3-2 after allowing four runs on nine hits and three walks. He struck out four over 3 2/3 innings, but still has a 2.98 ERA this season.

Mets 4, Cubs 2

Sean Manaea started for New York, allowing a run on three hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out three and now has a 3.07 ERA.

Sean Reid-Foley got the win out of the bullpen, while Jorge Lopez picked up his second save despite allowing a ninth-inning run.

Javier Assad allowed a run over five innings in his start for Chicago. He struck out one and walked none, and now has a 1.97 ERA. Adbert Alzolay took his third loss after allowing three unearned runs in an inning of work

Twins 6, White Sox 5

Simeon Woods Richardson started for Minnesota, allowing two runs (one earned) on seven hits and two walks over 3 2/3 innings. He struck out two batters.

Cole Sands was charged with a blown save, Caleb Thielbar got the win and Jhoan Duran earned his first save.

Michael Soroka started for Chicago, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks over 4 1/3 innings. He struck out three.

Jordan Leasure was charged with a blown save, and Michael Kopech took his third loss after allowing the game-winning run.

Brewers 8, Rays 2

Freddy Peralta improved to 3-0 and was dealing before being ejected in the sixth inning. Peralta allowed two runs on one hit and two hit batters - one of which led to the ejection. He struck out seven and was at just 66 pitches.

Tyler Alexander took the loss on the hill, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks over four innings, while striking out three.

Rangers 7, Nationals 1

Jon Gray was dominant over eight innings to earn his first win. He allowed a run on three hits, while striking out three. His ERA dropped to 2.48.

MacKenzie Gore took the loss after striking out seven in five innings. He gave up two runs on five hits and one walk.

Astros 10, Guardians 9 (10 inn.)

Hunter Brown started for Houston, allowing six runs on five hits and two walks over 5 1/3 innings, while striking out seven. 

Rafael Montero was charged with a blown save. Josh Hader got his first win after allowing an unearned run in the top of the 10th inning.

Carlos Carrasco started for Cleveland, allowing eight runs on six hits and two walks over four innings, while striking out three. Hunter Gaddis was charged with his third blown save and first loss after allowing two runs (one earned) in the bottom of the 10th.

Phillies 7, Angels 5

Spencer Turnbull allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits and no walks over 5 1/3 innings for Philadelphia. He struck out six along the way and now has a 1.39 ERA this season.

Yunior Marte was charged with a blown save, Jose Alvarado got his first win and Jeff Hoffman earned his second save.

Tyler Anderson started for LA, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks. He struck out six across six innings and now has a 2.23 ERA.

Carlos Estevez blew his second save and took his first loss after allowing three runs.

Diamondbacks 4, Dodgers 3 (10 inn.)

Arizona used seven pitchers to get through the game. Joe Mantiply was charged with a blown save before Scott McGough eventually got his first win.

Landon Knack started for LA, allowing a run on four hits and one walk across five innings. He struck out two.

Daniel Hudson was charged with a blown save and Nabil Crismatt took his first loss after allowing a two-run, walk-off homer.

Athletics 5, Pirates 2

Alex Wood started and pitched four innings for Oakland. He allowed two runs on four hits and four walks, while also striking out four. 

Mitch Spence got his third win out of the bullpen, while Mason Miller earned his eighth save with a 1-2-3 ninth inning, with three punchouts.

Mitch Keller fell to 2-3 after allowing three runs on five hits and two walks across five innings. He struck out seven batters.

Padres 6, Reds 4

Yu Darvish improved to 1-1 after striking out three across five scoreless innings. He allowed just three hits and left after only throwing 70 pitches.

Robert Suarez worked a 1-2-3 ninth inning to claim his 10th save.

Nick Martinez took the loss after allowing five runs (three earned) on six hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out three batters.

Mariners 3, Braves 2

Luis Castillo improved to 3-4 after striking out seven over seven scoreless innings. He allowed three hits and one walk.

Andres Munoz got the final five outs (including three punchouts) to earn his fifth save.

Reynaldo Lopez took his first loss after giving up three runs on six hits and two walks over five frames. He struck out seven and still has a 1.50 ERA this season.
