Hey folks. Welcome back to another fantasy hockey injury update. As December's grind continues to test both lineups and patience across the league, we will break down some high-impact injuries.

This week's developments touch every corner of the fantasy board; from elite blue-line stability to franchise cornerstones, emerging young talent, top-six scoring roles, and an evolving situation in the crease.

We're looking at a mix of short-term absences, cautious returns, and ripple effects that could reshape deployment in the days ahead. In several cases, opportunity is quietly shifting behind the scenes, creating openings for fantasy managers who are willing to stay proactive rather than reactive.

Let's break down the latest injury reports and what they mean for fantasy managers moving forward.

Victor Hedman - Tampa Bay Lightning

Hedman's return from injury was short-lived, as he appeared in just three games before being sidelined again with a long-term absence now in play. After missing significant time earlier in the season, his brief return offered some much-needed stability on Tampa Bay's blue line before another setback halted that momentum. Hedman is scheduled to be out until at least February, and this comes as a hard blow to those who drafted him, as he was just out for 12 games previous to this.

From a fantasy perspective, Hedman's absence creates immediate ripple effects. He anchors the Lightning's power play and logs heavy minutes in all situations, so his loss forces adjustments across the defensive pairings and special teams. While other blueliners may see increased deployment, Hedman's all-around impact is difficult to replace. Honestly, this is a tough pill to swallow for the Lightning, and fantasy managers alike.

For fantasy managers, this becomes a patience test. A long-term designation suggests caution, and even once he returns, workload management could limit his early production. Monitoring Tampa Bay's power play usage will be key until their top defenseman is back in the lineup.

Hedman has zero goals, 12 assists, and six powerplay points in 18 games played as a defenseman. He also has 25 shots on goal, eight hits, and 29 blocked shots.

Connor Bedard - Chicago Blackhawks

Bedard is dealing with an injury that has sidelined the Blackhawks' offensive centerpiece, forcing Chicago to adjust both their top line deployment and powerplay structure. Any absence for Bedard immediately alters the team's scoring outlook, as much of their offense flows through his creativity and puck control.

From a fantasy standpoint, this is a significant loss. Bedard drives shot volume, power play production, and overall offensive tempo, so his absence limits the ceiling for those skating alongside him. He is among the best players in the league, and is having a breakout season, finally fulfilling the production that his draft year projected him to. While other forwards may see temporary boosts in ice time and opportunity, the overall fantasy environment in Chicago takes a huge hit without the club's franchise player in the lineup.

Fantasy managers should closely monitor updates on his status. Once Bedard returns, he is expected to step right back into a heavy usage role, but any missed time creates short-term uncertainty and forces managers to seek production elsewhere until Chicago's top offensive engine is back on the ice. Expect their win percentage, as well as their offensive production, to tank while he is not in the lineup.

Bedard has 19 goals, 25 assists, and 13 powerplay points in 31 games played as a forward. He also has 103 shots on goal, nine hits, and 15 blocked shots.

Simon Nemec - New Jersey Devils

Nemec is currently sidelined with an injury, leaving a gap in New Jersey's defensive rotation. He is listed as day-to-day with a timeline for return unclear. His absence forces adjustments across the blue line and special teams, creating short-term opportunities for secondary defensemen to pick up minutes and power play exposure.

From a fantasy perspective, Nemec's loss is notable but not catastrophic. While other blueliners may see a temporary boost in ice time and peripheral stats, his all-around impact, especially on shots, blocked attempts, and even-strength play is hard to replace. Managers should monitor deployment changes closely until he returns to the lineup.

Nemec has seven goals, 11 assists, and 16 penalty minutes in 31 games played as a defenseman. He also has 50 shots on goal, nine hits, and 46 blocked shots.

Bo Horvat - New York Islanders

Horvat is dealing with a lower-body injury, forcing New York to shuffle their top-six forward group. His absence affects both line deployment and power play minutes, opening temporary opportunities for other forwards to step into more prominent roles.

Horvat has been on an absolute heater this year, and is literally scoring at will. His production is on pace to be the best in his career, and has been a tremendous help to the offensive production of the Islanders. Horvat scoring off the touches of franchise rookie defenseman Matthew Schaefer has been a chef's kiss to watch this season.

Fantasy managers should watch for short-term production gains from those filling in, but Horvat's overall value and scoring consistency are difficult to replace. Any missed time creates a window to exploit matchups or emerging players until the Islanders' top scorer returns to full duty.

Horvat has 19 goals, 12 assists, and 11 powerplay points in 32 games played as a forward. He also has 111 shots on goal, 19 hits, and 14 blocked shots.

Lukas Dostal - Anaheim Ducks

Dostal returned to the Anaheim crease, facing a tough matchup against the Devils and taking the loss and got shutout in his first game back. After missing time with an injury, his return immediately stabilizes the Ducks' goaltending situation and provides a clearer picture of who will handle the workload moving forward.

Dostal has been a key contributor for Anaheim this season, playing a central role in many of their wins and keeping the team competitive in tight matchups. His strong save percentage, ability to handle heavy shot volume, and consistency in net have made him a reliable fantasy option, giving managers both wins and peripheral stats throughout the season.

From a fantasy perspective, his return restores a dependable source of points, though managers should monitor early results as he ramps back into full workload. In the meantime, Ville Husso's usage is likely to decrease, and Dostal will retake his position as the Ducks' starting goaltender.

Dostal has 11 wins in 18 games started as a goaltender. He also has a .902 save percentage, 2.83 goals against average, and zero shutouts.
