Predicting Next Week's Possible Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Options: Romeo Doubs, Najee Harris and More

A week ago, I did a story trying to guess the next batch of fantasy football waiver wire options. I hit on a couple guys, and now am back in week 3 to predict some possible week 4 waiver options.

The list will mostly be wide receivers, but I'll try to hit on some other offensive skill positions.

Rashod Bateman - Ravens

The Ravens' offense has gone through Derrick Henry and Zay Flowers so far. Mark Andrews has struggled mightily, and nobody else has really stepped up.

Bateman plays enough to turn into a waiver wire target if he pops a couple big plays. With four targets in each of the first two weeks, but just 25 yards, he's due for a big showing in week 3. Maybe it comes against the Lions, and turns Bateman into a waiver wire option going into week 4.

Noah Fant or Mike Gesicki - Bengals

With Joe Burrow out and Jake Browning in at quarterback, the Bengals' offense is going to look a little different. Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins are still likely to lead the way, but maybe the QB change helps one of the team's tight ends to fantasy relevance.

Fant has nine targets across just 43 snaps played in the first two weeks, while Gesicki is at seven targets over 52 snaps. We'll see if those guys play more with Browning at QB, and if either can separate themself and possibly turn into a waiver wire option for week 4.

Dalton Schultz, Christian Kirk or Jayden Higgins - Texans

The Texans' offense has underperformed through two weeks, and really nobody stands out. Even Nico Collins has pedestrian numbers, with a touchdown boosting otherwise below-average performances.

Somebody else needs to step up on this offense, and there's a few options. Schultz, a tight end, probably has the best chance, as he's played the most snaps of any pass catcher outside Collins and Xavier Hutchinson.

Kirk could make his season debut on Sunday, and overtake Hutchinson's role. Higgins has the second-most receiving yards on the team, despite only having three catches and four targets, so he's a candidate for a bigger role moving forward.

Someone else is going to have to step up in this offense eventually, or it's going to continue to be a lackluster unit. We'll see if anyone steps up in week 3.

Chig Okonkwo - Titans

I chose Elic Ayomanor to step up last week, and he turned in a nice outing. Maybe Okonkwo could deliver his best showing in week 3 and turn himself into a week 4 waiver option.

He's third on the team in targets so far, but has just 54 yards over seven grabs. He's played the second-most snaps and really just needs one good showing to become a pretty good all-around fantasy asset.

We'll see if that comes this weekend against the Colts.

Alec Pierce - Colts

Michael Pittman and Josh Downs are the leaders in the wideout room for Indianapolis, and Tyler Warren has emerged as a go-to tight end, and maybe best pass catcher on the team. Pierce has outsnapped them all though, and all it would take for him to be a waiver option is one big game.

He has five grabs for 104 yards over eight targets through two weeks. A big play, or score, in week 3 could put him on the streaming map going into week 4. We'll see if he can deliver in a tough test against the Titans.

Dyami Brown - Jaguars

I'm a bit surprised Brown hasn't gotten a bit more fantasy love already. He has 109 yards and a score across eight catches and 11 targets.

Brown is third on the team in snaps, but he leads the team with his 109 yards. He's also third on the team in targets.

He's only owned in 11% of leagues though. With Brian Thomas dealing with an injury and Travis Hunter not stepping up yet, Brown has a chance to make some fantasy noise with another solid performance in week 3. He might just be a deep-league option, but he'll be worth looking into if he delivers again.

Tyquan Thornton or Jalen Royals - Chiefs

With Rashee Rice still suspended and Xavier Worthy banged up, most expected Marquise Brown and Travis Kelce to step up. Neither did in week 2, and that leaves the door open for a guy like Thornton or Royals.

Royals hasn't played yet this season, but is trending toward playing in week 3. Thornton has 100 yards and a score across four catches and nine targets - he'd probably only take off as a fantasy asset if Royals is out again.

Tre Tucker or Dont'e Thornton - Raiders

Jakobi Meyers and Brock Bowers have been the top fantasy pass-catching options for Vegas this season. Tucker is not far behind Bowers in terms of fantasy points, so I'm a bit surprised he isn't owned in more leagues already. Thornton has been a steady contributor through two games.

Tucker has 66 yards and a score on five catches and 11 targets. He only trails Meyers for snaps played amongst the pass catchers. Thornton has 65 yards on three grabs and eight targets.

At some point, one of those guys is going to need to step up to take some pressure off Meyers and Bowers. Jack Bech could also maybe be the guy who steps up, but with just nine snaps through two weeks, I'd believe in Tucker or Thornton more.

Najee Harris - Chargers

Omarion Hampton has dominated Harris in snaps (88-32), but Harris had one more touch in week 2. If that happens again in week 3, Harris could be a waiver possibility going into week 4.

Harris has averaged 3.7 yards per carry, but that's 0.6 more than Hampton. Harris has 11 more receiving yards on as many catches. We'll see how things look in week 3, but LA is going to utilize Harris, especially if Hampton isn't as efficient.

Theo Johnson - Giants

Malik Nabers and Wan'Dale Robinson have been the team's best pass catchers in the early going. Johnson is third on the team in snaps played and has eight targets through two games, so all he needs is a little more production in week 3 to get some waiver looks.

Johnson has just 39 yards on five catches, but has also gotten three red zone looks. A big showing in week 3 could put Johnson on the map, and as a top waiver TE going into week 4.

Jeremy McNichols - Commanders

This is more a shot in the dark, but what if Jacory Croskey-Merritt doesn't serve as the lead back everyone expects him to be? JCM has averaged 7.1 yards a carry, so I think he just needs more work to show his value, but it's possible Washington isn't ready to give the rookie a full workload.

McNichols is now likely RB2, and he could be a big-time waiver pickup going into week 4, especially if he leads the backfield, or has a good fantasy showing.

Romeo Doubs or Dontayvion Wicks - Packers

With Jayden Reed out and possibly Tucker Kraft out now too, someone needs to step up amongst the Packers' pass catchers. There's plenty of options, but Doubs and Wicks seem like the most likely ones.

Doubs has 96 yards and a score across five catches and nine targets through two games. Wicks is at 74 yards on six receptions and eight targets. Doubs has played 25 more snaps, so he'd be my choice between the two.

The top waiver pickup between the two going into week 4 will be determined by who delivers in week 3. We'll see if anyone stands out.

Darnell Mooney - Falcons

Mooney made his season debut in week 2 and had 20 yards on two grabs and four targets. He played 57 snaps though.

At 65% rostered, all he needs is a good showing in week 3 to take off as a fantasy asset. He's proven to be a solid No. 2 to Drake London in the past, and a week removed from an injury, maybe Mooney takes off in week 3.

Rachaad White - Buccaneers

White was good in week 2, so I'm a bit surprised he isn't more rostered going into this week. Another big performance could get White way above his current 65% own mark.

There's room in the Bucs' offense for two backs to shine, even if Bucky Irving is doing most of the heavy lifting. Things could get complicated when some injured receivers return, but White is one to watch for sure.

Xavier Legette, Hunter Renfrow or Ja'Tavion Sanders - Panthers

Tetairoa McMillan is the go-to pass catcher in Carolina, but the team needs a consistent No. 2, and any of these guys could do it. Legette has played the most snaps of the trio, but produced the least. Renfrow is coming off a big week, and Sanders was pretty good last week too.

We'll see if anyone delivers enough to become a big waiver option before week 4.
